The PS1 doesn't support DVD's, the PS2 was the first console to support it, that's part of the reason why it blew up.

Yes thats true. Most ppl still used cassette players for music, the ps1 allowed us to use cds without having to buy a whole new product.

@@jimstinkfoot2119 my tv has both hdmi and inputs for rca cables. It was made last year it's a Samsung. People who who want to play old consoles can still buy tvs with rca connectors. I plugged my ps2 to my tv without any problems, and my ps3 that has both rca and hdmi ports also

The Analog button disabling the controller on the menu is quite useful for when you're listening to music so when the controller isn't active, no buttons can be unintentionally pressed

Video games were so much harder then. My favorite is the Armored Core series. I play more PS1, PS2 & old Xbox, also the Dreamcast, than I do 360 & PS3. Gonna be awhile before I own a PS4 or Xbox one as my current game library is extensive. There's just something about playing these early disk based systems and completing, or even replaying, one's favorite games.
I've noticed the 6thbgeneration console games were more innovated and had much more fun gameplay than generation 7 consoles. Still there were some games that were good on 7th generation but it wasn't enough. And ps4 and Xbox one x didn't have much of .innovated gaming. And now we're at ps5 and Xbox one x and all they have is nothing but reboots and remasters.

Got this for Christmas when I was 16 years old. Now 34 years old, but still think back to the hours I clocked up on Grand Turismo. One of my favorite games today still.

The Playstation 2 use 8MB memory card.
Royale TV no the PS1 uses 1 Mb (Megabit not megabyte memory cards. 120KB is reserved for game saves and 8 KB is reserves for system use.

The PS one (AKA PS1 Slim) is the TRUE PlayStation Portable because there is a 5-inch LCD screen add-on and a car adapter that you can get for it and you can take the PS one with you and play your PS1 games and listen to your music CDs on the go. You can play with your PS one anywhere! You play with it in your house, at a friend's house, in a car or in a truck or in an SUV and a relative's house and vice versa. Who needs the PS1 Fat when you got the PS1 Slim? Plus, the LCD screen add-on has a headphone jack in the back of it, that way you don't disturb anybody while you are playing PS1 games or listen to music CDs on your PS1 Slim/PS one.
The regular PS1 was my very first console i really enjoyed it.
How I play my PS1 in 2019 and past few years is on my Sony CRT TV. My PS4 is hooked up to my HDTV. The older consoles always looks better on a CRT TV 👍

it was the remade version made in 2000 , and stopped being sold in 2006 ,
i think they also updated disc copy protection in this version , stripped out the slot ?
i know most of the originals had very easy mods.

my parents gave me their PS1 that was a gift after their marriage. I played it when I was 2. My first game was Spyro The Dragon, then Crash Bandicoot. When I was 5, they bought me the PS1 Slim which I loved more & bought me more PS1 games such as Tekken 3, All Crash B. Series, Spyro 2&3, Spiderman and so much more. Right now I am 16 and I still have both of the consoles & both of them are working. 😍 sadly, I use PS1 emulator since my discs are scratched. PS1 Forever 💗
My dad bought this for my brother in 2001 like that... and now it is passed to me... and yes... its 2019... and i planned to buy the PS4 at the end of the year

When you say ps1 people who know their playstation history immediately think the slim one. The first playstation is known as the PSX, or simply the playstation. This is because when the slim revision was marketed, it was not called the ps1 slim, it was simply called the "PSone". I can understand hoow people who were running around as a toddler at the time wont remember this. If you want proof then google "psone logo" and go to images.

Yeah, the PS1 was my joint, much more so than the other consoles, though I do have a soft spot for the PS2. Think I was about 10 when the PS1 came out. I've been thinking about buying an original PS1 console since the PS4 doesn't allow you to download classics. Good video.

I have an original PS1. Its model number is SCPH-5552. I have 2 controllers for it, in port 1 I use the DUAL SHOCK, and in port 2 I use the original controller. I also have 2 memory cards. In slot 1 I use an original memory card, and in slot 2 I use a 3rd party memory card. It all still works! I play it using my Smart VIERA E6, connected to its component slots.
PS1 and PS2 memory cards + controllers both use the same method when slotting in, so they'll fit in either console.
When you put a PS1 card into a PS2, it'll be readable and useable, but with PS1 Games only. (No surprise there) - You can still copy PS1 saves onto a PS2 card, but you'll still need a PS1 Memory Card in order to save your PS1 Games if playing it on the PS2.
A PS2 Memory Card into PS1 doesn't need any explanation lol, though either controller works on both consoles.

PS1 Memory card will definitely work in a PS2. but the controller... some games wont recognize the PS1 controller in a PS2.

I was 10 when the original Play station came out and 16 when this particular model of it came out.
The Memory Cards for PS1 and PS2 are different from each other. And if you play PS1 Games on PS2, you still need the PS1 Memory Card cause it doesn’t work on the PS2 Memory Card.
My brother, Tyreke wants a PS2 for Christmas. If not, somebody said that there is a store in Syracuse, NY (I think) that has some PS2 consoles. We don’t know where, but when he has enough money (when he is starting his job), he will find that place. Also, he might get some PSone games too.
You can get an HDMI converter for it. Im literally using it right now.

The older one SCPH-500x does support VCD's by using an add-on
