If you put any 360 game before 2010 into something that registers DVD (I.E PS2, Orginal Xbox with adaptor) it will think it's a DVD

if you open the ps2 tray you can see there are indentations for small discs like game cube ones. Ps 2 had some mini game disks that were the size of gamecube games so even if you put in that size disk they will always come out because the console was made to be able to run those disk sizes just because of mini game disks. Those kind of disks usually been found in memory card boxes for example some 16 mb memory cards came with those disks
As well when the compact disc standards were made they originally intended there to be full sized CDs for full albums and mini CDs for a single song. Though - in practice this almost never happened .. there were a few released.
There were even some TV shows and movies released on mini DVD
So that is what it is for, the ps2 is capible of playing CDs and DVDs so the smaller tray is for compatibility with these formats

+Elian Hernandez yes, they allow you to put a password lock on certain content, it only worked for DVDs on the PS2 though, these days game consoles have parental controls that can lock down apps, games, movies, and more...

If i worked at a retro game store i would hide a copy of Shaq-Fu in the back of every fat ps2 we had.
Sega CD, Sega Saturn, and Dreamcast games are read by the PS2 as audio CDs. You can listen to the music from certain games. On the Dreamcast ones though theres only one audio file that basically tells you to only play the game on a Dreamcast.

Hey you could do a hybrid disc that's like a bluray and DVD and put ps2 game and ps4 game on the same disc ... already in theory
I think it was actually very thoughtful of Microsoft to put that message in there in case a kid or someone that doesn't know better tries to put a game into the wrong console, so that they don't just think the disc or console is defective.

You should have put a dreamcast disc in there, it plays it as a CD with an audio file that says, This is a Dreamcast disc and can only be played on a dreamcast unit.

man, its not possible at all. They were coded differently for other architecture and were made to use different CPU,graphics card and stuff. You couldnt even run an emulation cause the hardware is too weak.

Ive gotten many PS2 RSoD’s and it was never scary to me I was just like oh well.
Jesus, I remember when we still had our PS2... We had car racing games and a few violent games as well. I was only 3 or 4 years old at the time so obviously my parents never played the violent games in front of me... that often lmao. I must have been 4 when we put it up in the loft and got a Wii instead. We never played it again after that to my knowledge. We threw it out when we moved house back in 2011 for whatever reason.
I HAD THAT TOY STORY GAME. THAT WAS MY CHILDHOOD. I would play it on our old Compaq Presario 7360 desktop computer. Sound card died so everything was played without sound. I now have the urge to play it on my custom built desktop. This shall be interesting!
