Dude, the amount of patience and attention to detail you put into your work is astounding. Love the sound of this, definately gunna add it to my musical toolbelt 😁
I think Brecker did a lot of this - using both 3rds over minor chords. Also it works well to use the Major 3rd and the Perfect 4th - maybe a Hendrix Blues scale?
I have no idea if it’s just a weird coincidence, but I’ve JUST begun talking with my music teacher about this sort of stuff. I had been looking into something called a dominant altered scale (I think??) but this is a bit easier to wrap my head around for now. I can’t wait to grab my guitar and get started :)) Thank you very much for this! I am eager to see what you post next!!
..the altered scale is more piquant and spicy , with the flat 9 and flat 5, and flat 6 or 13 more commonly labeled..pentatonics are very interesting note or sound wise, any five notes can be played with..stay safe and stay strong..New York October 31, 2021..
..cheers from NYC Nick!..your thirst for musical exploration is inspiring man..as far as tools for improvisation and advanced musical ideas, your channel is a great oasis..thanks for sharing man!..jazz lives..stay safe and stay strong..New York October 31, 2021..
Congrats! As always inspiring!👍🏼👌🏼👏🏼I especially liked this wellness bathing background sound while explaining the difference of minor and hendrix penta😹😹😹👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I've done this a number of times and felt like it implied the chord was dominant or using a minor 3rd over a major chord producing the same harmonic feeling in my brain.
Your F Hendrix pentatonic would translate to what Gary campbell would call “Ab major pentatonic b2”. Same group but a different name which may reflect a difference in utility, or the origin of one as a theoretical concept versus a discovery of the ears, or both. “Connecting jazz theory” has some cool pentatonic studies, if anyone is interested
One or 2 a while back. I actually have developed like a bit of fear of fronting a group. I don´t enjoy it, I feel I am not good enough and people won´t enjoy what I am doing. I started this channel as therapy....
@@JazzDuets trust me, you're more than able to front a band, or at the very least, play as a guest. You have strong melodic and improvisational skills! Even if you think of the melody a split second before you play it, it's well more than enough. Think of it as extended therapy!
great! use that then if it works for you. I catalogue the sound in my head as Hendrix Pentatonic. For me a Blue note could be b3 or b5 or b6 etc, so it is a bit vague for on the fly recall

Hendrix used this on Power of Love by the Band Of Gypsys

According to Ian Ring, William Zeitler named this pentatonic scale Garitonic.

Those fingers are really close to the keys, 😯
Esos postes de luz son definitivamente cordobeses
close cordoba yes
Russell Ferrante?
it would be helpful if you can give 5 examples where Hendrix plays exact this over minor chords . So ...no blues or Bluesriffs
No I would not play it on F minor but would on F7.
Funny, I was taught this scale at a very young age as a Blue Note scale, coming from Jazz. Simple as that. No Jimi involved.

it's a G (b2) pentatonic scale
i study jimi hendrix
