I used your recipe a couple years ago .... Total, off-the-chart success. I will be using your recipe again this year. I'm from Louisiana (Live in Michigan) - your recipe is the by far the best (& easiest) - they're true southern Martha Washington balls. Thanks so much! Happy Holidays!
Can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone back to your recipe. I love it because it’s the only recipe that melts the butter like my mother did. I make this every Christmas for my two brothers and two sisters. They appreciate a memory of our mother.❤️
My grandma made Martha Washington candy at Christmas time. She also made Divinity, Pralines, and Fudge. I think you can do the sweetened condensed milk, powdered sugar, and butter and leave out the nuts and coconut to make butter creams. You can add food coloring and or flavoring (like peppermint). She also used a little paraffin in the chocolate for a sheen.
very sweet you can't eat a big helping but the taste is OUT OF THIS WORLD - i use a little paraffin wax in the choc to keep it solid - and no coconut for my household
What a great idea! I think I'm gonna try chopping the candied fruits (like we put into fruitcake) and pecans for these. How Christmassy would these be!
What gets me on any recipe comment section is how people have something negative to say and I’m like just move on by and just keep your mouth shut!!!!!
The Martha Washington recipe I have calls for a 10 ounce jar of chopped maraschino cherries. The rest of the recipe is very close to yours. You make it look so easy.
I did not know the secret was letting it set overnight. The recipe I had just said let it chill in the frig for 1-2hours, no wonder I couldn't roll it into balls and dip it. Thank you! I did find one way to cut some of the rich sweetest out was to use unsweetened coconut flakes, my recipe called for sweetened coconut flakes though.
This seems like it would sickening sweet. I made coconut candy at Xmas but I literally just mix sweetness condensed milk & the shredded coconut & scoop balls to dip...less calories & less steps. They taste just like Mounds!😉
So weird. I've been trying to find a recipe for these candies and I came across yours and I just happen to look into the recipe and I saw that you live in meridian ms. And that's where I live. Lol. Imma try and make them if not I might get you to help me out if that's OK. Great video by the way and Thanks for making one.
Hi, I was reading the comments while looking for Martha Washington recipes and saw where you live. I'm in Hattiesburg! I've never made them before but I'm going to try it this week! Hopefully I'll succeed!! Keep your fingers crossed.
We made these every year for gifts. We called it out of this world candy. And put a maraschino cherrie in the middle. We could make them small, because of the sweetness.
I just got my wisdom teeth out n Im hungry wanting some solid food and these look yummy....lol but over all thanks for sharing your recipe ima try making these for sure.
Leta's Kitchen thank you and im getting there in recovery road but I went yesterday and bought the recipe and once I can eat solid food and candy im making this right away....lol and tell chad my little sister and I would like to see you guys do the smoothie challenge. Take care and many blessings.
your are a fabulous youtuber love leta's kitchen p.s don't tell chad this but I check to see what you have new on your channel be for I check chads channel ;)
Tried to make this exact recipe and they never set, the choc was too thick and didn't work. Had to throw away half of them. Sadly disappointed. I bake all the time and I saw these I thought of I can make macarons which are really difficult then I can surely make these, well they didn't work. 😥😥
How would Martha Washington gotten sweetened condensed milk? Martha Washington died 1802. Sweetened condensed milk didn't come out till 1836 and wasn't commercialized till 1900s. I think Martha's wouldnt have been quite so sweet.
Martha Washington had nothing to do with the Martha Washington Candy Company which is where this candy originated. Maybe some more research before you start schooling others.
I don't want to know how much sugar is in this ans what will happen to my insulin with this ...I have PMS and am craving dark bounty... our country rarely gets it ans these videos are torture... just the thumbnail YUM
Can't find dark bounty so relented to milk chocolate one... but craving so bad... I felt so sick after it. I have lactose intolerance too... Need a dark chocolate lactose and gluten free that still tastes like yummy chocolate 🍫 bounty but won't give me a sugar coma ... tall order..I know! I will likely keep eating the milk chocolate ones and make myself sick. Monthly cravings ...too much chocolate! If I made these I'd put in ten kilos and there's no chance I'd give themswsy before the tray would be seriously eaten into
My grandmother used to male these every year for the holidays. Watching you make them make them had me remembering her and smiling. Thanks 😁
Awwww such sweet memories of your grandmother! :)
Yum😊

My grandmother did as well, but I leave them out cause I'm not a fan of them :)
What a great idea! I think I'm gonna try chopping the candied fruits (like we put into fruitcake) and pecans for these. How Christmassy would these be!

I always added 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to mine, stir it in into the sweetened. condensed milk and melted butter then stir in the powdered sugar.

Never heard of this candy looks delicious can it sit the container does it have to be refrigerator
She said it was sweet; that is an understatement. I think I just went into a diabetic coma.
Lisa Mahoney It’s candy dummy...it’s supposed to be sweet !
it's like lemon pie - good but so sweet you only need a small portion
Lisa, a diabetic coma is due to HYPOglycemia … low blood sugar not high blood sugar!
@@kathleenray1827 no, it can be from too much glucose. Happened to my Dad.
I add a whole cherry into each ball instead
My aunt use to make these every Christmas. Yummy!
Yes so yummy! :)
I love candy.

Can this be mixed in a kitchen aid mixer
Thank you for sharing. I plan to make some of those but like you said I will half the recipe.
+AreelWild1 They are really good! Enjoy! :)
This would absolutely send me into a diabetic coma!!! Too bad, they look so good!!!
+1cobaltcrazy Oh no!
Do you think I could use a stand mixer with a paddle attachment to mix it up more quickly?
Sure, I think that would work fine :)

Awesome! Hope that works better for you! Good tip! :)

Exactly what it is. I would definitely leave out the suger.

My Mammaw made these every Christmas in chocolate and in butterscotch.
Love Christmas memories! :)
We made these every year for gifts. We called it out of this world candy. And put a maraschino cherrie in the middle. We could make them small, because of the sweetness.

Think I'm going with this recipe, let you know how it turns out.

How about that chocolate melted in a small crockpot on warm?
My mama made this every Christmas when I was kid.
Hi leta can we use instead of nuts peanut m@ms?
Amanda Ridley You don't have to add nuts if you don't want to and it will turn out fine! But m&m's are a great idea! :)
Leta's Kitchen Thx for the reply :-)
What can we add instead of nuts
@@lindamorris804 🫒🫒
Did you use chocolate chips or candy melts?
I used chocolate chips :)
a good friend from Texas told me that his grandmother made these going to make some for Sunday
My grandmother used to make them too! :)
If ya wanted , you could finely chop some merachino cherries 🍒 and add
Yes you sure can! :)
I just got my wisdom teeth out n Im hungry wanting some solid food and these look yummy....lol but over all thanks for sharing your recipe ima try making these for sure.

DARK CHOCOLATE 🍫
🥰🥰
I definitely should try this! Greg was looking for another candy - so they should be awesome! ^_^
And I like that can make so many! omnomnom! =D
Helena Khudyna Yes! Greg finished all the milk chocolate ones in less than a day! :)
wow!!! But you did so many! I'm impressed!
Basically an almond joy or mounds bar with confection suger. Way too sweet
Theres another video like this and the lady said you refrigerate balls for 1 hour, then coat with chocolate
This has been in our family going back 100 yrs.
I lost my recipes. My sons are begging me to make them.

That’s why I refuse to bake or make any sweets. I rather buy so I don’t see how much sugar and butter goes into my sweet desires.
I don't want to know how much sugar is in this ans what will happen to my insulin with this ...I have PMS and am craving dark bounty... our country rarely gets it ans these videos are torture... just the thumbnail YUM
I understand! I have to give this away so I don't eat it al! LOL
