My mama made these one Christmas and added chopped maraschino cherries to hers. My brother and I both had pneumonia and we had a lot of snow for Mississippi. My dad built a snow man for us as we stood at the window and watched him. Even sick, that was the best Christmas of my life. Thanks for bringing back such good memories.
My mom made these every year and sometimes she divided the batch and put maraschino cherries in half and coconut in half, with pecans in both. Delicious both ways.
Dear LORD, I remember helping my neighbor make these wonderful gifts. Boy, that was great times as a teenager. I made them again 3 years ago. I enjoyed making these with my neices, and nephews.
When my daughter was in college she had a girl in her dorm from Australia. She had never had any kind of Christmas candy . So my daughter and I made all kinds of Christmas candy. The girls would gather in the hall and share treats from home. Oh what a great time, they shared. Great memories they had. Martha Washington candy was one we made.
Oh my goodness. I’ve been making these for my husband every Christmas for 40 years. His mother gave me the recipe. It’s the only sweet thing he ask for at Christmas and now my son in law ask for them. It’s definitely a labor of love💕
You are just my hero! My mom, favorite Aunt, my grandmother and no telling how far down the line made this every Christmas as well! They are the best. My daughter owns a bakery and this is one of her Christmas Treats sold every year. Thanks for the memory!
Try warming up the sweetened condensed milk before adding into the mix. It mixes easier and still tastes just the same! Roll the mixture into a skinny log and slice into pieces the right size and then roll into balls.
These look so yummy. My friend makes Bourbon balls. One Christmas my mom and I sat and ate a whole tin of them. We got to laughing so loudly, we woke my kids up. It was Christmas eve and we had put out all the presents. My kids saw all the gifts and asked what we were laughing about. We told them Santa had told us a really good joke. We had Christmas around 3:00 am that year!! Thanks for jogging an old happy memory. God bless, and I'm glad you're on the mend.
My mom used to make Martha Washington candy for us as adults as part of our Christmas gifts. We all loved them! She's in Heaven now so good memories of her. Glad you are feeling better! Love your channel.
I make apricot coconut balls every Christmas which are similar. You put in coconut, sweetened condensed milk, and chopped apricots. You then roll into balls and then into the powdered sugar. Was my great grandmother's favorite. Have been making over 50 years. These look good also. May have to try.
Thank you Tammy for making these Martha Washington balls! My mother made this every Christmas for her family. Now that she’s gone and I’m the oldest, I make them every Christmas for my siblings. You make yours exactly the way she did❤
I always add half a cherry in each center and I don’t use coconut all the time. You haven’t ate one til you put a cherry in them. I also use different dips. Salted caramel, butterscotch, etc. my daughter and I try to make during holidays Atleast every year or two. Looks great!!! I’m behind so I think I will make some. 🙏🏻♥️💥🙏🏻♥️💥
My mama made these at Christmas, and bourbon balls (vanilla wafer kind), and also taught me how to make what we call uncooked fondant (not the stuff on cakes or the stuff with Karo), which I flavor, tint, roll, and dip. I use paraffin not shortening! It’s all so, so good. Ghirardelli used to make a huge block of dipping chocolate in milk and dark that I used, but about I think 8-9 years ago, they discontinued. Best chocolate for dipping ever. Brought back a lot of memories! TFS.
Hi Tammy! This brings back memories of Christmas holidays at my grandmother's home. She made Martha Washington candy every year. It was always a huge fave with all the family members who would visit during the holidays. I've kept the tradition going for my crew. They enjoy helping....well, more like doing a taste test! Lol Thanks for another video, y'all!
Thanks for the sweet memories of my mother. She made these every Christmas when I was growing up. They’re my favorites but I haven’t made them since she passed. Maybe I’ll make a half-batch soon. (She actually used paraffin in her melted chocolate but I use shortening.)
Hey y’all! These look amazing! I’m not much of a coconut fan but I just might have to try these!! Have a blessed week and so glad you are feeling better.
I love Martha Washington candy!!! My friend made them and then she gave me her recipe. I used to make them every Christmas but since children married I quit cause I would eat to many. Lol. Glad to see U making them Tammy. I may have to make some. U r making me hungry.
Looks fabulous especially with the toffee bits!I will definitely try making these with my granddaughter. We are compiling recipes for a cookbook to give all the relatives next Christmas so thanks for the great idea!!!
I have made these for Christmas as long as I can remember and they are always a big hit.I have never rolled them in toffee bits but I am sure they are wonderful that way . I will try some of them that way next time . Love watching you cook.
This reminds me of a time I made a batch of peanut butter balls dipped in chocolate...I made half & froze the rest for later... half was close to 100 balls...exhausting but well worth it! We'll do anything for our kids! 🤣
Wow! Wish I could have been in your neighborhood this week. I’d have paid you a visit, COVID or not. That candy takes me back to my early years of marriage when I made all that sweet stuff. Glad you are feeling better!
I always make Martha Washington candy for Christmas. My children and grandchildren love them❤️. Never dipped them in pecans though. I’ll have to try that😄
Hello Tammy and Chris . Thanks for sharing . The recipe for Martha Washington candy . Never heard of it or ate any . Make wonderful gifts for the holidays . Both Of You. Have A Wonderful Weekend .🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹
Your Candy looks so yummy and pretty. Thank you for making these and sharing this with us while your still getting your strength back. I was wondering about your Daddy and sister too. Praying for all.❤️✝️🙏💐
One of my favorite homemade candies…,May mama always made it every Christmas!!!! Always with coconut and pecans, some with just coconut some just pecans some without coconut or pecans and some with crushed peppermint….Great memories.
I ended up with a pretty severe stomach issue and can't have nuts which kills me. So now I made toffee that I crumble up in my food processor and use them in cookies and banana bread. Not as good as pecans, but it's delicious. If you put them on top of your banana bread it gives the best flavor and crunch
I have never heard of these. They look delicious and I’m sure they are. If you buy the Wilton brand chocolate candy melts and mix the dark chocolate and milk chocolate you get just the best flavored coating. I did this years ago when making homemade candy was all the rage. It was out if necessity since I didn’t have enough of either kind to make whatever it was I was making at the time.
Los Angeles is home to wonderful See’s Candies. The variety box had the Martha Washingtons! I love the idea of making homemade since I don’t live there anymore! Thx!
My ex Mother in Law made these without the chocolate. The one thing I asked for and didn't get was her recipes. I will use your recipe to try to replicate hers. I know what it is like to not have an appetite, last time I went 2 weeks and ended up in hospital so keep some protein drinks on hand and don't loose your strength.
Thanks Tammy, I've never heard of Martha Washington Balls. They look delicious and probably a fun thing to make with my grandkids! Happy Valentine's Day 💗
I have never heard of these. I am sure Mama would have known what they are. Happyto of been told now, and I will definitely give them a try! Continued healing, Tammy. Love you both! 💛🙏💛
Every year and she also would make Date loaf candy. She's starting to slow down now as she is in her mid 80s. This video brings back good memories. Thanks again, Nathan
Ok now I know what to use the rest of the condensed milk for from the coconut macaroons recipe from the other day!! They look yummy!! Never had them before!!
Wow! Looks amazing but I never heard of Martha Washington Balls before! My mom would make cookie but not candy…..It has all the ingredients I love! I will definitely try to make them for my family!🤗
I make these with almonds and coat them in semi sweet chocolate. Making them taste like a homemade almond joy. They are good both ways. Keep the recipes coming.
That's beautiful....am so Interested in it i will make one when I got home

them
Gulf wax or paramount crystal are great to smooth out and thin your chocolate 💕
They are delicious dipped in white chocolate and add walnuts instead of pecans
