Great cover/lesson as always! Really appreciate these videos. BTW do you have any instructional videos on how you include the score and tabs in your videos. I would like to record what I learn and then be able to tab/score it out to see how it compares. Thanks in advance for any pointers!
Drew I played guitar for 35+years and always wanted to play this song, never did. A year and a half ago I bought a Ric switched to bass learned this song and haven't looked back. It's so fun. Cheers
Great Job! I learned on some sour tabs, and had to completely re-learn, I'm at 99% with only a little trouble at the very end (remembering). One of Rush's little known masterpieces- it's got a little darkness about it that I find eerie and fascinating.
Just to say wow..thank you..I've recently started learning all the things I wanted to but couldn't when I was younger.i have played bass for a looking time.and now a days RUclips is soooo much better than doing it by ear alone ..very clean and nicely done.geddy is phenomenal I'll be watching more and learning more from you I am certain..
Amazing tab as usual! Bar 37-38 confused me, but I think I figured out what sounds better (at least to my ear). Make the 3rd note in bar 37 an octave higher (8th fret on D string), break up the last quarter note in bar 38 into two separate eighth notes (both 6th fret on E) and make the first note in bar 39 a plain eighth (8th fret on E) instead of two sixteenths.
Nice job. I have Geddy's signature bass which is black and white with lighter inlays but I really like the look of your sunburst with the darker inlays. Looks deadly.
I am always surprised that nobody solos the end riff. When I play this, I toss the tab in the bin at the end and just go for it. Plus, its much easier to get the ged vibe by attacking the strings on this, although yeah that is what makes him so special.
The bass I'm using is called Precision Bass Special (MIM). It does have the neck of a Jazz bass. I am using the bridge pickup only and also have my bass running through a sans amp (knock off) simulator.
@bassmanjoe most of the stuff I learned I never played live. The only rush song I played live was YYZ. The only songs that were popular for jamming were the songs that got radio play so most of the songs that I learned and liked were not very popular.
@bassmanjoe mind you I can't sing and play. I don't know how he does that. It's some kind of trick. I can sing but never lead. I always sang backup in choruses. And as for Geddys range - he's an alto. Some of the most talented singers are altos. Jon Anderson and Robert Plant. Roger Daltry.
Newly Available! Bass Tab in Description
Thank you!

This song is what made me decide to play the bass!

Fantastic job man, this is the first Rush song I've been able to learn all the way through, really appreciate the tab

How did you get the tone?
@@amonster8mymother Tone as in bass tone? adjusting EQ and playing the strings really hard, I think he uses some overdrive too.
That Geddy can play this WHILE singing is what separates guys like him from us mere mortals.
Excellent timing and execution of the complex nuances of Geddy Lee playing style
God, this one was my FAVORITE to watch Geddy play. What a jam! And you nailed it, too!
You absolutely nailed it! Well done sir!
Thank you for the work of putting a video with such good editing, and with tabs even! You rock
I like Geddy's vocal as well as his bass playing on this on.
Solid playing dude. Really nailed the tone too. Brilliant.
Toca muito! Rush para sempre!

This song is fun to play.
You nailed it

Bravo!!! Excellent!!!!👏👏👏👏😃
That neck looks just like the one on Geddy Lee's signature jazz bass ;)
This is a PJ bass. It does have a jazz bass neck. I love it, very comfortable to play.
Sick!!!!
Nicely done! This video shows why some people shouldn't have a thumbs down button...they just aren't responsible enough to use it correctly.
Oæoo👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻Good play
Im not really a fan of vital signs, but this is very awesome dude 👏
SMOKIN. THAT WAS ELEVATED FROM THE NORM

Nice job on the tone, wouldn't really expect to hear that coming out of a PJ. It that the neck from a Geddy jazz bass?

I learned this when I was 16.
@bassmanjoe better than you.
I can play the whole album.

practice more, you're struggling to play it
