  • Bromelain is found in pineapples, and as a result many peole take it as a bromelain pineaple alternative to and in search of a natural eye floaters treatment. Some people are convinced that bromelain is making their eye floaters move more. The question is whether it's just a coincidence or whether bromelain is actually the cause of this phenomenon. If it is; does this mean that your floaters will get worse as a result of is it the begining of an improvement. I share my thoughts and I want to heare your expereinces. Leave me a comment below, I'm really interested to know.

There are many people suffering from this problem. most of them are just trying to ignore them. because the doctors say so. No do not bow to the doctors' word, their task is to find us the treatment. yes they have no intention to do so. If so, we will make our voices heard to the world. Let's unite under the roof of the VDM project. Together we can create change.

For me, bromelain has actually helped as there were floaters that were close to my retina right at the center of my vision and I could not even read clearly, I was so stressed considering FOV vitrectomy. Before going for such a risky procedure, I thought I will give bromelain a chance and it worked to move the floater from the central portion of my vision, it didn't reduce the floaters just made it more fluid, so it takes me a while to see clearly till the floaters settle but I can finally see to the point that I can read again without magnifying letters.

I took high-potency bromelain and papain in enteric capsules twice daily on an empty stomach. Within 2 months this made made vitreous very noticeably more liquefied. Peripheral floaters that would move subtly but not cross my FOV, are now able to 'swish' fully across my FOV. I also saw many new floaters come into view in my relatively clear eye. I believe these floaters were always present, but were far less distracting when suspended more or less in place in the periphery. I have stopped taking both enzymes for 3 months and have seen no further progression of this phenomenon.
I do not recommend using these supplements as they have made my floaters much more bothersome. And I'm now needing to consider vitrectomy in both eyes, whereas I only had bothersome floaters in one eye prior to the supplements.

@@15misbahbagwan63 I took bromelain for six months, and personally I'd say they are worse, whether it's because of that I don't know, maybe they would have taken a similar path anyway. Have stopped taking them now for about three weeks and last week a new floater appeared in the form of five little bubbles joined together, much sharper in appearance then my others. My conclusion is that changes are taking place all the time within the eyes, so as various bits of the vitreous pull away it shifts the perspective of your vision. However everyone's condition is very personal to themselves and I would guess no two are the same. But the fact remains that as the gel within the eyes continue to liquify with age then changes must happen.

The theory that bromelain doesn't discriminate collagen is sound, but there's no possible way you can eat a capsule a day and your eyes start liquifing within a month. Insane. Even eating raw pineapple you are most likely not eating nearly enough bromelain to enter your eye. You would have to eat an entire raw core pineapple every morning on an empty stomach for months to even begin to think about it entering your eye.
I do belive the pineapple study is bogus though. The study reused "After" images of a floater free eyeball from another study. When people found this out there was a mild panic that despite the study being fake, the bromelain would enter your eye and destroy it...
Seriously if you're worried about Bromelain just stop and think about it. Some people in South America do not have fingerprints from eating so much pineapple everyday. They would all be having insane PVDs and all kinds of retinal issues if their vitreous was being eaten away from a month of pineapple.

Is the vitreous becoming more liquid a problem? Didn't it used to be more liquid when we were young and it becomes more rigid as we get older.
Every time someone comments about getting rid of floaters by consuming pineapple, they never mention their vitreous becoming liquified while those who took bromelain vitamins mention that, do those bromelain medicines have other ingredients?
What happened to people whose vitreous became morr liquid, did the eye go back to normal after they stopped? The problem is they stop updates right after that which is annoying.

The younger you are, the more solidly gel the vitreous fluid is. As you age, it gets more liquid. Collagen can more more freely, forms strands, they can clump together. From looking at LOTS of sources I can't see any reason (or agent) that would reverse the liquification. So everyone's guess is as good as their N=1. Hope that helps! 🙄

I wanted to check in with my experience using Bromelain to alleviate my eye floaters. My floaters got really bad after I flew to Florida. The low pressure from flying at altitude caused my vitreous to detach in my right eye where I already have asteroid hyalosis. I couldn't fly back home until I got my eye checked for retinal detachment. The vitreal detachment placed a really large spider like web in my peripheral vision that was entangled in vitreous that obscured my sight. I heard about the pineapple research so I started taking Bromelain supplements (500 mg) daily because I didn't want all that sugar from pineapple. After 2 weeks I noticed small floaters breaking away from the affected area and moving to my lower peripheral field. The vitreous itself seem to be different texture wise too. I wasn't getting real results until I started taking a Black Walnut supplement (1800mg) per day. I noticed that the affected area started getting clearer. Black walnut is one of the healthiest supplements you can take and it eradicates many different ailments by cleaning the microbiome of junkie microbes, parasites and restoring balance. It also oxygenates the blood like crazy, which is good for your heart, eyes and knocks out parasites. I have also been dieting and eating a lot of salmon, which is high in fatty acids which is good for the eyes. I cut out gluten as part of my diet and my gut is able absorb the supplements much better which makes them more potent. I have lost 12 pounds in about 5 weeks too. I have been taking the Black Walnut for roughly two weeks, and noticed a few days ago that the bags that have been under my eyes for decades are starting to go away. Its pretty incredible. So the point I am making is you have to take steps to get your gut into condition to make sure your can absorb the Bromelain properly for maximum effect, so take steps to ensure you do that and take a high potency or high quality enzyme supplement. I am also going to add a very potent eye vitamin to my regime as well. Hope this helps.

Bromelain could be doing both - liquefying the vitreous and breaking down the floaters. Also, if bromelain is breaking down the collagen fibrils, that will also have the effect of liquefying the vitreous, i.e. it will make it less dense than its previous gel state.

I started developing a small floater on my left eye since I recovered from covid in 2020. I read in a research that they found traces of the virus even in the retinal area. That might have caused my floaters or the covid vaccine who knows. Anyway, I have started eating ~250g of fresh pineapple every day for 3 weeks now and I've actually started noticing a slight improvement. They appear more transparent

I'm 44, from Italy. I've developed eye floaters last year, in March. I'm now suspecting that a cycle of ciprofloxacin I took in february may have had something to do with it, since I recently was made aware of the side effects of this antibiotic (and some of the same class), which BTW aren't limited to eye problems but also potentially long lasting or even permanent issuse to tendons and muscles. Now, a year later, I didn't notice any improvement. In fact, I developed yet another floater in my left eye, while previously I only had a couple in the right one.
I've tried eating pineapple daily, but I only did for a brief period of time. Floaters seemed to get more transparent for a while, possibly either due to pineapple or increased liquid intake, but recently they look pretty opaque again. I'll probably wait another year and maybe try pineapple again, but if they keep bothering me, I may consider eye surgery.

The bigger that floaters are, they tend to be more likely to break up or sink with time. That’s not guaranteed though, but I’ve had many patients who have found their floaters less bothersome between visits.

    • @meyetips

Hi Ryan. Hopefully they spotted your problem floater. If they did then they may be right that it is just a large floater rather than a Weiss ring. Most people with a Weiss ring may not see it as a ring, but rather they tend to describe it as a. ‘Cob-web’. If in doubt certainly get a second opinion. Apparently YAG laser vitreolysis can be good on Weiss rings.
