    I upgraded to 50//34 Tiagra 11:-36T cassette. My Marlin 5 was a 40T and I wanted more top end speed and easier climbing. Also the stock saddle was upgraded to a Selle Royal Gel Saddle. The stock saddle was rock hard.

    Nice video! Cool to see the FX3. I have the FX2 and it's great!

    Felt Verza Speed 20 Supernova.
    I've seen them going for $800.
    Not bad for Tiagra.

    Hello, great video! Really appreciate the in-depth analysis. Quick question though, with absolutely all due respect, how much do you weigh and does it hinder the riding experience? I am 275lb and I am a little scared to get this bike as it has a weight limit of 300lbs. Thank you so much!

      I weigh around 300 pounds. This bike absolutely can handle my weight and a pack. I would say 300 is their low estimate. Honestly, the bike is solid I’ve put about 500 miles in since I bought it with no issues, hope this helps!

      You know I was gonna say I think they are “promax branded brakes not shimano ” but treks website website says they are shimano so I wasn’t sure. Thanks for the comment!

    I have a question about the bars. I’m considering an FX 3 and I’m wondering if you’re able to raise the bar height on bars? I test rode one and liked it but think if the bars were a few inches higher id be better off. Thanks.

    • @RiverAnglin
      @RiverAnglin  2 месяца назад +2

      I think you may be able to adjust the height of the handlebars you may have to use spacers to raise it higher though. The fx is the perfect blend of road/comfort. At first the bent over position may not seem comfortable but over long hard rides it actually helps.

      If the spacers aren't enough, you could also use a riser stem. I use an adjustable stem and they're great for helping a bike to fit properly.

      Have you considered the Verve 3 instead? It's more comfort oriented.
      That said bars with more rise and sweep are readily available.

      @@gk5891 Hey there. I did test out the Verve 3 as well. I ended up going with the dual sport 3 gen 5. Handle bar position seems to be somewhere between the Verve and the FX. I pick it up tomorrow. I have 30 days to decide. Thanks.

    I briefly had this exact bike last summer. It was very comfortable and fun to ride. However, the 1x crank drove me nuts due to a low high speed in top gear, as well as the gear ratios themselves being spread out on the the higher gears. I traded it after a few weeks. I'm not sure why manufacturers even offer 1x cranks on sporty bikes.

      Because front derailleurs are terrible. You could have changed the chainwheel or crankset but I agree it the chainwheel does look small.

      @RiverAnglin  Месяц назад +1

      The reason I personally prefer the 1x is it’s less complicated and I bike a lot with my dog, so I wanted something I could ride one handed easier. It is pretty slow in low gear but I personally think it’s just right for me.

    Bought this and at far I'm hating the hand grips. My wrists are hurting because of the grips pushing against the heel of my palms. I adjusted them today hoping that'll fix the issue and raising the handle bars. If that doesn't fix it then I'll change the grips. I don't like how the grips are molded. Normal grips are better. These pushing into the heel of your palm forcing more pressure on wrists. Not a fan but like the rest of the bike so far. If I can't fix the grips then I'll sell it.
