she was a bit fearful at first but she had a collaborator and went for it informed and unafraid because she used her goodam sense.
You know I have to say I have always preferred a more minimal style for many years, but after watching Quintessence videos for a couple years now, I have really started to appreciate (and dare I say LOVE) these gorgeous layered and patterned rooms. In fact, I just made curtains for my living room that are designed with this gorgeous oceanic coral pattern in my mostly solid colored room and it just looks amazing. This channel has totally inspired my changing tastes in interior design.

I agree. It's like before these videos I knew of two choices, simple or cluttered. To learn there is a 3rd way--layered, textured, full while organized, colors compliment each other as well as match-- is eye opening. Good for you with your bold curtains!

That was wonderful as usual, she is a lovely and very glamorous host. I was laughing at how impressed you were Suzanna, with the brick door stop wrapped in fabric. I have been doing that in my home for years and years. It works particularly well on external doors and whenever the fabric becomes worn out I just remove it and replace it with a different print. On my large French doors off the kitchen I use cinder blocks and wrap them with printed hessian fabric. I receive so many compliments and comments on them. Thanks again Quintessence. So much to appreciate! How she mixes her colours and it all balances. I love the splashes of purple...I love purple but it seems so hard to decorate with and too much ruins the beauty of the colour (imho) but this looks scrumptious. Sidenote...I recently redid my powder room and made sure to incorporate splashes of purple...and it makes my heart happy just to "see" the colour.

How brilliant it was for Ms. Barnes to treat the powder room door like it's part of the wall. That luxurious touch continues the wall pattern without interruption so we can focus our attention on the rich patterns, textures, colors, and objects in the room, not on the door. This particular door treatment is especially wonderful because it blends the door into the wall on both sides -- in the living room with the larger print and then, in the powder room with the coordinating smaller print. How fun when the door is open! Perhaps Ms. Barnes' fashion background has been an influence here. That peekaboo moment makes me think of those times when a coat has an interesting lining and it swings open and we get a little peek at it.
Great analogy!! Those are called jib doors by the way and I'm obsessed with them! And yes, I think Charlotte's fashion background has definitely influenced her interiors!

I'm a tough critic and it's rare that a see a space RUclips that I love everything about it. But I must say I love Charlotte's aesthetic and even more so her color palette. It's beautiful in a cerebral way in that there is a lot of pattern and texture but none of it looks forced or eccentric. The whole place is vibrant, charming, and sophisticated. The thing is that's it's not understated, which is not easy to do, but in your face elegance that is both strong and delightful at the same time.
