sorry for very low audio... it turns out the camera I used to record the video had a damaged microphone. headphones will make the audio better. Thank you for watching.
For the mechanically adept it was fantastic muted! Just got last of complete ucl/lcl bushes, I/O ties, sway/end links/ubj/lbj/rack/Bilstein 5100s, discs, pads, replacing PS and Brake Fluid, Oil Change and Plugs, clean MAP sensor.... easily a 4 day gig if lucky, but the NEXT 96K will be as smooth as the first on my 06 Limited DC 4X4. Just did the Carrier Bearing and pumped fresh grease thru all Cardon, Slip and Ball Joints. That alone took 95% of shakes and clunks away. Love my Tundra. Great job.
What an awesome video tutorial! I have to replace my Rack & Pinion on a 2005 Toyota Sequoia and you were very detailed and helpful. Definitely subscribing!
I have to do this on my mother's 2001 tundra. same exact setup. The bushing tore into the rack and caused a large rusted hole. my wife seen the fluid in our gravel. I have a question and I hope you answer this when we turn the steering wheel we put transmission oil and after that when we turn the wheels starts turning and the Toyota sequoia starts making a huge screech noise and I was hoping to know why it makes that noise?
Hi, I saw in my Haynes manual for 2004 Sequoia that Traction Control zero points need to be reset with special equipment after replacing the rack. Did you have to do that?
+Trip Dipster I should have but I didn't, there hasn't been any problems with this job I did. I'd recommend finding the torque specs and using them. Sorry for not including that in the video

i replaced my toyota sequoia 04 with after market rack and pinion and i dont think the suv behaves the sameway when i m driving it. who makes oem rack and pinion for 04 toyota sequoia?
Excellent video. How long would you estimate that job took and what was your preferred replacement brand of steering gear assembly. I have 201,000 on my 2004 tundra 4wd and my bushings are starting to leak.
Jonathan Hoag well it took me much longer because I had to record everything but if you follow the video and everything goings smoothly I'd say 2- 3 hours. you can never go wrong with moog replacement parts. Thanks for watching.

Great video! Makes me think a) i could do this and b) i need a battery powered impact wrench
It's doable with hand tools. Just make sure you set aside at least two days . Some things can be a pain in the butt but it's not the worst job
Awesome helpful video. Made me change my mind on DIY on this. Looking for mechanic now. 👍
Fantastic, yet thorough job documenting it for your viewers there Nic.
On the tierod you can also remove the old one, count the turns out and turn the new one on the new rack as many times. Should be real close.
Very thorough video, man! I’m about to do my dads 01 Tundra and this was very helpful. Well done, and keep up the good work bro!

Great video! I am thinking about buying one of these that has a bad steering rack and I was hoping there would be a video like this. Thanks!
Nice! Good luck on the repair
THANK'S FOR THE VIDEO..
Was all good except the new one has to be turned both directions on the spline like 3 turns or you break your clock spring like I did. Good luck
They is why I did careful measuring before installing it
I stripped out threads! Great! $500 rack. Nice.
How'd that happen?

How do you remove the rack from the steering side and how would I know if it’s centered?

Great video! Where did you purchase your rack and pinion?
Thank you. I'm not sure. The customer brought their own part. I'm sure you can get it from AutoZone or any other place
Hey brother, wondering if this is the same setup thatd be on a 2007 sequoia?
2000-2007 should be the same body style so yes

Is there a video by chance that can help me fix this problem?
We already change the Rack and pinion for the car
Check the tension on the belt. If the belt is loose it will screech when you turn the steering wheel
@@themechanic6117 Where is the belt located at?
On the side of the engine. You can't miss it

+hillm1234 I did not have to do that, the rack worked just fine with no warning lights on the dash.
I have a 02 sequoia, and I have a question: To which way goes the tie rod end?. I'm having issues with that. Thank you!!
I didnt show it in the video? Check your part numbers for the parts you got.it should say which is the left/right tie rods

How did you get the rack gear off of the steering shaft?
Remove the bolt then use a chisel and hammer to knock it off
what year is the sequoia? THANKS.
I said what year it is in the first ten seconds of the video
🤟
How long did it take you from start to finish?
I cant remember. Should take just a couple of hours
