As the mother of a gay son, watching the reception Pete Buttigeig got from the audience made me cry. After seeing how LGBTQ rights have been getting pushed back in some parts of America, Pete gives me hope that there is a brighter tomorrow for my son.

Working grassroots for his campaign in 2020 was a fantastic experience that I will always treasure. His campaign was as 1st class just as he is now. On message , very high standards. His policy white papers were works of art. Every one of them were detailed in substance and for those with deep financial needs 'how to pay for it' was included. He never disappointed, ever. I hope he continues to work for us in the Harris Administration. I will always be Team Pete.

I really like Pete. I really want to see him take a run at the White House one day.
But I actually think he wasn't the best match for Harris. And not because he's gay.
I think he's not the best match because he's been working in DC in the cabinet. He's never been in the US legislature and he's never been a governor. His pull is going to be the same as Harris's pull. Yes, he's got the military experience going for him. Might give him a little more pull. But there were better options. I also think that he and Harris are both very logical people. Biden was a more emotional guy. And finding another guy who leads with his heart balances Harris better.
I hope Pete gets another job in the Cabinet, preferable Secretary of State. That's a post that has produced as many presidents as being VP has.
And I hope Pete runs in 2032. At which point, he will be the DC insider, and will probably be looking more to governors to be his running mate when it comes to balancing a ticket, and probably pick someone who is a bit more of an emotional person to balances his calm logic.
That's in the future, though, and no point counting chickens before they hatch.
I disagree that Pete wasn’t selected as VP because he’s gay, I believe it’s because Tim is a better fit for Kamala. I think Pete is great and I do hope he runs for President one day but the chemistry between Tim and Kamala is special it’s synergistic. I believe they are going to win by a landslide!
