Brother, that's everybody's favourite part. The vocal controls, the lilt, the eyes... oh man the eyes. Remember when this song hit the charts. Was infatuated with her.
At 3:25 they've very clearly dubbed in the lyric "soon turned out had a heart of glass". What she actually sang (and the way she sings it on the record) is "soon turned out to be a pain in the ass".
The band did this after AM radio began to beep out the word. They released the single with the edit. FM radio had fewer restrictions. They still played the "pain in the ass" version.
How funny, I was just thinking about you, and how I have been missing your videos. I really miss your energy. Welcome Back! Blondie, is such a trendsetter. She really changed the music scene. 👍😊
to understand the impact this song/Debbie's vocals and persona had at the time, consider the reigning female vocalist at the time was the brilliant Donna Summer, whose tracks were HOT and impassioned. then look at Debbie's nonchalant "what me, worry?" attitude, chilly head voice, and the "pain in the ass" line in last verse, and suddenly the playing field had changed. and her insanely beautiful face didn't hurt either.
😁 it NEVER gets old for me to see the younger generation like you, my brother, appreciating music of my youth. I would’ve been shocked if you didn’t like this one of theirs. It’s my favorite tune of theirs. Debbie Harry was a huge sex symbol back then, boy. Their other tune “Call Me” was a jam too, back in the day. But “Heart of Glass” was so good…that even MY MOM liked it. She always sang along with it when it came on the radio. This video version was the “clean” version, though. There’s another version where Debbie sings “…once I had love it was a gas…so turned out to be a pain in the ass…”. 🤣 There’s a few videos on RUclips with that version. Love that one too😆 Keep being true to yourself, my brother! Love your reactions. Much Aloha✌🏾🎼🎵🎶
Watching you react always makes me happy. Soooooo missed your reactions. When I need a pick me up I go back and watch you react to Fleetwood Mac, or, my favorite reaction of all time- Bell Biv DeVoe, "Poison" Thanks for always keeping it positive and real.
James I was worried about you. So glad your back. I hope your family is doing well . Good ol Blondie. Thanks for sharing. We love you and missed you James!✝️🙏♥️🙂
Dude yeah Blondie was badass back in the day doing her thing beautiful beautiful voice!!! I've got some of her vinyl and a pretty kool 33rpm picture disc single. I really do enjoy your videos keep up your work! I have a question have you done any KISS songs? The early KISS albums with the original lineup being a kiss fan from the beginning everybody thinks of Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley singing but I'm curious what your thoughts would be about Peter Chris's playing & singing say Black Diamond, Nothin to Lose or Hard Luck Woman. Ace Frehley has some good songs Shock Me on KISS ALIVE II with his guitar solo I would definitely love to see your reaction to that . Also Parasite on the KISS ALIVE album. Ace and Peter never really had a lot of songs on an album. A majority of the time it was Gene and Paul and a collaboration of the band itself on some the rest would be background vocals. Some really good stuff they have their own sound just like so many others Blondie has her sound and no one else comes close to sounding anything like her music that is the same with KISS. KISS ALIVE II is a double album just like KISS ALIVE but the thing with the second live album they only had three sides live and a studio side on side four is where you will find Ace Frehley's song Rocket Ride. Just a big kiss fan. And of course a fan of yours . Looking forward to see some of the videos if you have already done them or if you do decide to do the reaction video. Take care and have a blessed and wonderful day.
At the absolute height of the punk and disco eras in NYC (at basically the same time), Blondie was pretty much at the forefront of both genres. Debbie Harry was, and still is a stone cold fox. As I was a teenager in this time it felt to me like Debbie was an understated, or maybe a "reluctant" sex symbol, but there's no doubt that she was. And yes, she certainly had the moves, but she rarely flaunted it.
Got to see a show in 1980 when I was in the 🇬🇧 I learned that even a hint of anything remotely disparaging about blonde, and the brits were ready to throw hands
Ah, but you are listening to the censored version. They have sense put back the original, where after the "ooh, whoa" she sings, "once I had a love and it was a gas... soon turned out, to be a pain in the ass". I guess RUclips made them change it for a little. I love to watch reaction videos, especially those who listen to Blondie. They're my favourite band and I truly enjoy seeing positive responses. Thank you! You really have a keen ear for and appreciation of music.
Hey J, Havent been on for a while, dealing with medical hell...Hope the family is well...Yeah, an awesome Jam, Blondie was so amazing, Icon classic female rocker. Miss ur reactions, was so good to see ya. Thanks so much for a fun blast from the past. Peace
I love Blondie, I grew up on this music, I always wanted to be her. It's ok if your video skips a little bit to get the sound, my 8track tape of this album did the same thing, LOL I need to check out your all video's to see if You have reacted to Rapture yet.
@cezar63 I caught that too. It’s a damn shame a record company would do that on RUclips when we can download it complete for free. Guess some people won’t pass up a chance to be assholes.
Rome you have the same look on your face as I did back in 1978 .only for the first minutes or so I just sat with my mouth open my my my To be 14 again and in love❤️
Hello, Rome Life Reactions I like to request BAND-MAID ‘Don't you tell ME’ official live video please! Could you also give me a shoutout for introducing them to you? BAND-MAID is an all female Japanese hard rock/metal band that dresses up as cafe maids 😆But these ladies are no joke and play harder than the guys most of the time. These ladies have 40M views on reaction channels alone so If you don’t mind thousands of rock and metal heads coming to your channel you may want to check em out!
Check out this song I think it will blow you away Lovebites Shadowmaker - ruclips.net/video/Brmoln5Gxus/видео.html and this is a song much like the Blondie song 9 Muses "Glue" (it's in Korean select close cation for English lyrics) ruclips.net/video/I191r0eLdc4/видео.html
Check out Blondie "Call Me" ruclips.net/video/StKVS0eI85I/видео.html and then immediately listen to Black Sabbath Ozzy Osbourne "Children of the Grave" ruclips.net/video/rR1nZLeQl1A/видео.html Then Comment
How lovely and talented was she?!?! The 3rd verse is dubbed over. She actually sings: Was a pain the ass, Had a heart of glass. Read her lips. Political correctness at its worst!
Brother, that's everybody's favourite part. The vocal controls, the lilt, the eyes... oh man the eyes. Remember when this song hit the charts. Was infatuated with her.
I liked the part where one of the band checked his hair for ticks.
He wasn’t born when this hit the charts
Right after that she actually says "Soon found out... be a pain in the ass" lol guess RUclips didn't like that part either
The lips!
I was born 1970 and she was older than my parents for this song. Always a blast to skate to at the roller rink.
At 3:25 they've very clearly dubbed in the lyric "soon turned out had a heart of glass". What she actually sang (and the way she sings it on the record) is "soon turned out to be a pain in the ass".
𝐒𝐨 glad someone pointed this out - 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮! ♡
The band did this after AM radio began to beep out the word. They released the single with the edit. FM radio had fewer restrictions. They still played the "pain in the ass" version.
LOL - I was singing along and sang that very thing.
I hate sanitized rock. Nothing goes against the heart of rock music than this: "Funky kicks going down in the city" crap.
@@daveveautour4886 Right?! Sacrilege. ♡
So good to see you back reacting to great music again! Hope you're doing well.
Just saw Blondie this past weekend at Cruel World Fest in CA. She still got it, the whole crowd was dancing!
How funny, I was just thinking about you, and how I have been missing your videos. I really miss your energy. Welcome Back!

Debbie was a real powerhouse - one of the first females to front a male band. Tons of hits.
I have always been a big blonde fan. Used to listen to her on my little cassette recorder. ❤❤❤
I'll never forget your reaction when you did Blondie's "Rapture" -- Priceless! So great to see you doing reactions again, James! Welcome back! ;-)
I forgot how much you cheer me up....❤ keep radiating that great energy my friend 😉🤩
Good to see you again. Hope you and your family are well. And this song is a BANGER! Another great one by them: Call Me
Missed your music reactions so much! Missed your dancing too! So glad you’re back
One of the most well arranged and executed pop songs of all time.

And the video holds up. Timeless style and class by Debbie Harry.
😁 it NEVER gets old for me to see the younger generation like you, my brother, appreciating music of my youth.

James I was worried about you. So glad your back. I hope your family is doing well . Good ol Blondie. Thanks for sharing. We love you and missed you James!✝️🙏♥️🙂
Blondie is always a fun time.
A great song from their fantastic Parallel Lines album. I had such a crush on Debbie Harry but I guess most red-blooded males did!
Dude yeah Blondie was badass back in the day doing her thing beautiful beautiful voice!!!

Dude, I saw her live in Philadelphia, and she was out of this world! Check out One Way Or Another its a trip!
As a teen I hated the disco stuff but this tune...no doubt about it, it's got the goods . Stands the test of time too. Debbie Harry is mesmerizing.
Me too, I was into heavy rock and progressive rock, even in 1979. But this is a great song. I feel the same about ABBA's _"Dancing Queen"_ !
{:o:O:}
Well, this isn't disco, but it is a dancy tune.
1:30 ... Aaaaaand he's gettin' 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 it, folks! ♡

Blondie isn't a person. her name is Debbie Harry.
Interesting side note: Debbie Harry was almost a victim of Ted Bundy but she escaped him.
You'd bust a gut on stevie nicks
Have you done Blondie Rapture, then check out the mashup Rapture Riders
Go back and look at your dates ,she was the one that started the Rap scene.

ROME LIFE. My sincere opoligies regaurding my rude coment. I was well, well... drunk. 4- give me?
How lovely and talented was she?!?! The 3rd verse is dubbed over. She actually sings: Was a pain the ass, Had a heart of glass. Read her lips. Political correctness at its worst!
They're a bunch of hams, weren't taking much seriously at that point in time I don't think 😋😎🥳
Wtf! Blondie were not hams! They were serious musicians. Making classic rock music
What on earth are you talking about? LOL
