  • @PersephonevanderWaard
    @PersephonevanderWaard 3 года назад +73

    My two cents: Tone chasers aren't called "chasers" because they find the perfect tone. The only way to do that is use vintage equipment under the same exact analog recording techniques used back in 1983. Instead, chasing is about emulating old analog tones through digital technologies, of which there is no perfect/uniform method or device. In any case, your tone sounds great; not because it's perfectly the same, but because it flat-out cooks and sounds close enough not to be an issue. The people who tell you to make adjustments are missing the paradox of their own advice.

    we need a legend to make the Cliff KEA tone so this tone is complete

    • @Cthulhu_Awaken
      @Cthulhu_Awaken 3 года назад +12

      You know, when I first listened to KEA, Cliff's tone, while not being particularly polished, refined or whatever, reminded me of a tuba, when heard together with the other instruments of course. It has a natural, classical vibe to it that amazed me even as a guitar player.

    I have another comment on this video, but I'm gonna ask anyway... When trying to learn rhythm patterns (16th notes, triplets and gallops in this case) from Metallica's discography where do you guys learn from? I can't seem to find good video lessons that cover this particular matter, oftentimes I'm having trouble to even figuring out those patterns in my head... Or maybe it's my beginnerish brain and hands that can only think and move in only one way.

    Anyone got tips for alternate picking? I can't play most of the kill em all album because I can't alternate pick. After I downstroke amd come up for the upstroke, my pick just gets stuck or wedged under the string.

    • @gobey1213

      Angle the pick against the string more. So that it isn’t flat against the string when you go to hit it.

No matter how slow I take it with a metronome, or try to keep up with play alongs to the albums, my forearm just burns up, and I get fatigued. Relaxing the hand as much as I can, it still doesnt come together. Awesome stuff here.

    • @joseph-ht1te
      @joseph-ht1te 2 года назад +2

      Just gotta push through the pain honestly, pain means you’re at the point where you can’t go anymore, and the longer you’re able to stay in that speed where it starts to hurt, it’ll eventually stop hurting. Just need your forearm and wrist muscles to grow and get used to the motions because they’ve never moved at the speed they’re moving for long periods of time. Eventually you’ll get there :)
