Note: Double Barrel doesn't actually fire both barrels at once. Just both of them very quickly and almost simultaneously. This "almost" is very important as it means the pellets don't all make contact at the same time to trigger certain bonuses.
like with white phosphorus shells.
i wish they changed this so that it actualy reduces the 'magazine' by 1 but doubles the pellet count, theres a mod that alredy increases pellet count so i know they know how to code it... just find it dumb that its not that way to begin with

Forgot to mention, if you take Born Ready with the Explosive Reload, you can “store” more explosions on bugs if you switch off and let Born Ready do the reloading.
I do that on the Korlok and the twins, it was fun yo stack them up lol
I'll try to keep this in mind if I ever talk about the perks.
Love doing it to the twins. Trying to burst them down before they can heal or detonate them to force a heal in case of emergency where you need to get a revive is always awesome.
Changes with season 4:
Double Barrel was buffed immensely. Now it actually does fire 2 shots at once, effectively (1/2 ammo but x2 pellets with just 1 shot), and also massively buffs the boomstick's shockwave.
Also the reload delay was fixed so tier 2 boomstick upgrafes are competitive now.
Thermal Exhaust was fixed to work as intended, getting more powerful the closer you get to an overheat.
Shield Battery Booster was buffed to hugely reduce shield recharge delay. Combined with the armor mod, your shields can begin regeneration after only 1 second.
The actual downside to Special Powder is the increased odds you eradicate your legs trying to hop around

Imma be real: Special Powder just feels so Scout (if that makes sense) that _not_ using it feels like a crime agains the class

For real. Anyone who says scout lacks crowd control needs to equip ER and spray a magazine into a horde of grunts, then watch as the pop 1-by-1.
Also the fact that you can stun lock almost anything (even bulk detonators) with just one bullet is pretty nuts.
On what haz are we talkin' here? I got ER on one of my Scout builds, its helpful for slowing a horde but i havent noticed it one tapping anyone...?
@@BleakNote It's only for basic grunts. Pretty sure it's for all haz levels, just takes a while due to the 6s duration.

I remember when double barrel used to only use 1 ammo, so with double trigger it was actually *four* shots
Very nice video! I think you should add a graphic of the overclock you're currently talking about as it's a bit hard to follow what all the stats of the overclock are, other than that, the video is very entertaining!
I thought about doing that, but the video took a lot longer than I expected already. Maybe I'll try fiddling with some of the text presets in my editing software for something simple.
i found a intresting combination with the scout crossbow , if you run tri-fork volley with magnetic shafts you can find yourself obliterating bulk detonator health pools if you combine this with the electrical special bolts its basically the build i run for the situation of :
'' I see a bulk detonator there and i wish for it to disappear ''
Sad I didn't think of that. I'll try to keep weapon mods in mind for the other classes incase something like that pops up.
Bodkins do something similar as it allows the same bolt to repeatedly hit the fatty target but its not consistent and is likely just the result of a glitch anyways

Here's a few tips for hoverclock on the M1. First, you do NOT have to fire a shot after you charge it! Switching weapons while you hold the fire button will avoid using any ammunition, allowing you to stop falls for basically free, minus the time spent switching weapons. Second is that hoverclock is extremely useful for mining! Grapple to a spot in the wall you want to mine, power attack/normal pickaxe the wall, and switch to HC. This will allow you to mine hard to reach stuff at little to no risk without an engineer. Third, hoverclock allows for effectively infinite flight on the scout! Even with a max range specialized grappling hook, the hoverclock has enough time on it to allow your grapple to fully recharge before hitting the ground in nearly any situation. Combine this with the first tip to achieve effective infinite flight!
I'll take it one step further, you don't even need to switch weapons, just swing your pickaxe and it cancels the charged shot

Note: Double barrel has been changed its now an unstable overclock and instead of just massively boosting your fire rate and slightly boosting your damage it now massively increases the blast wave damage and the ammo counter shows how many reloads you have

In season 5, I want to see an overclock that turns your flamethrower into a plasma spewing nightmare. It will make the crispr even more of a monster at close range, but the range is killed (10 meters max). Ok, so this unstable overclock that is yet to be named will give you very high direct damage and it heats up targets FAST, added with a larger spread. However, you have to sacrifice range and reload time, but that’s not all, say goodbye to sticky flames, and targets cool off fast too. Now, I think the description will go as follows: “We swapped your regular fuel with highly volatile plasma-based napalm, allowing you to vaporize anything 10 meters in front of you! But your flamethrower had to be loaded with a heavy magnetic refrigeration system to keep the weapon from melting, so take care when reloading, and your fuel burns so fast that range is limited and sticky flames are ineffective.” What should the name of this be? Any ideas?
I'm not sure how you're running out of ammo with rewiring mod. As long as you overheat every time you fire (manual heat dump works) you have effectively more than 2000 ammo
Because I'm a bit of a dumb dumb and forgot that manual heat dump exists so I was just using my preset that had maximum cooling efficiency... Don't worry, at least you and I know the truth.
Honestly, I just keep shooting until the gun overheats, with manual being a fallback if I feel like playing a minigame where I hit the button when it's 1 shot from overheating

@@aSmallGreenDot This is mostly because you actually have more ammo than gunner does at that point
If you take the damage mod on tier 2 (and you should), you start with 525 ammo. I usually find I'm on about 300 - 350 whenever a resupply gets ordered.
I run 12311. The manual heat dump is crucial (tier 5), heat dumping at around 80% heat is ideal, but as soon as you kill the bugs in front of you, you should dump and run.
Trifolk volley for the crossbow is great with magnetic shafts if you have reliable electric procs in your arsenal

could you add pictures of the OC's? Newer players dont know them by name
They wont know them by picture either and the names are usually easier to remember than the pictures, especially since some of them are pretty generic like an ammo icon

I see that with the ammo icon, but we know which character gets it so it would be easier.
I'm looking into it. Hopefully my experience with this first video will streamline the process and make that an easier thing to experiment with.

Rewiring mod effectively gives you ton of ammo if you use the manual overheat when you can. It is way better than it looks
It is also my excuse to not spend all the mission looking at a gauge instead of at where my next destination is on a class defined by trying to do everything faster all the time, i have a bit of a hard time to justify using it over the gk2

Not to nitpick, but I noticed that you were shooting every time you channeled the hoverclock. You don't actually have to shoot when you focus shot. You can cancel the focus shot by tapping right click or swapping to a different weapon. This should save you some ammo in the future.

Electrifying reload is really quite strong on tbe GK. That lower ammo doesn’t matter when a single bullet can kill a grunt, slasher, mactera spawn or leech in a single hit because of how long the DOT lasts. Also, it provides great CC for your whole team, as you can just unload into a swarm, hit as many bugs as you can and just completely stop them in their tracks. Suprisingly good swarm clear, given that it’s scout.
pro tip for hoverclock on the M1000: if you just tap the pickaxe button it will cancel the shot and allow you to save the ammo

Imo nihshanka crossbow is the best scout secondary on terms of damage and potential crowd clearing or boss chunkage, i will die on this hill
It’s like pgl where it can pretty much do any weird shit you want it to if you build for it and have OCs except it’s already way better at base than the pgl is.

More fire rate = dps, not ammo efficiency down.

You couldn't have done the zhukov overclocks any less justice. The Balanced overclocks might SEEM like small changes but they're everything. Don't just make shit up if you haven't tried it.
Embedded detonators are also a very good overclock if you use them properly
Apologies if my appreciation wasn't displayed properly. The main thing I was mentioning for Minimal Mags and Custom Casings is that +1 and -2 for the fire rate seems completely arbitrary. Mathematically it makes a difference, but it seems to mainly be there for show since the Zhukov has a base of like 32 fire rate. And I also love the other overclocks for it as well. The downsides for Embedded Detonators and Gas Recycling were just tragic. Imagine if you had that extra 400 ammo capacity on ED, or could crit with GR. It would be busted as heck, but it would also be really cool. Anyway, sorry for the confusion; I hope I made up for it!
