I feel the struggles of being a single digit handicap every time I golf. I played 36 holes in one day last week as a 3.7 handicap. I shot 89, 77. It's unreal how fickle of a game golf is. I played this morning and shot an 85 with 7 straight pars on the back 9. If anyone had watched me play the front 9, they would have guessed I was a 20 hcp. Great video as always, Adam!
Even the difference in front 9 and back 9 can be huge for me. A couple times last year I struggled on the front shooting in the high 40s, but then shooting a 36 or 37 on the back. One day I'll shoot a 94 and another I'll shoot an 82. It's a crazy game, but I'm working on consistency and good decision making. Having time to practice is certainly helpful, but sadly these days I'm lucky to be able to play once every week or 2 because life is busy. That's why I mostly focus on having a good time. Maybe next year I'll be able to grind a bit more haha
@@_dboy_ I totally get it! I played a front 9 yesterday +2 with 8 pars in a row (that continued into the back 9) then proceeded to make 5 bogeys in a row until the last 2 holes to shoot a 79.. Golf is a fickle mistress but I'll never give it up lol
So good to see you back again, I have missed these videos. You make "Good bad Golf" look so easy. 🙂 Hopefully you have some more videos lined up soon 😛
Honestly...this is GREAT golf. I think what most of us mean when we say "I suck at golf" is that we have an unreliable, inconsistent long game. But to be able to keep a level head, make good decisions and score despite challenges with the long game is totally great golf.
Exactly... what I notice is that I hit the same amount of bad shots except I have 3 penalty shots that went out of bounds or that I couldn't find.... what I would do to be in the 80s man... great round!
Shit day at work made better by the GOAT dropping a video and getting me hyped for my Friday tee time. Appreciate these videos and the effort put into running the channel, Adam 🙌
I was going to post on another video of yours yesterday to check you were ok! Get it on the green, don't compound bad shots with more of them, and don't three putt :)
Golf is such a strange sport. One day you can't miss, then the next you can't hit the ball. And we pay to do this! Some days it doesn't pay to get out of bed.
Those guys really really really wanted to hit your ball back to you! Some people just can't handle that others like to make the ball hit the bottom of the cup. Hit your own ball!
Good morning Adam! Loyal fan here n been watching your journey ⛳️ 🙏 Do you mind sharing with me what kind of camera you use to record your rounds? Such a great video and like to get the same quality. Tia n god bless 🙏🙏🙏 I’ll keep watching ⛳️🏌️♂️
If you're ever in the London, Ontario area, let me know. Would be down for a round or two. Single digit cap. Member at a nice, challenging, 100 year old muni, but could also get access to private clubs and always down for a Tarandowah run.
@@NotAScratchGolfer Nice! London has really changed the last while, would be like a whole new city in a way. And I hope so too! I read once that London and area had more golf courses per capita than any other part of Canada. I'm guessing that has changed since then as there haven't been many new courses the past 20 years (and some going bye), and the population has almost doubled in the area in that time. But its got an incredible muni system and 3 courses in the top 60 in Canada within a 20 minute drive, and a bunch of hidden gems too.
Thanks! I film on an iPhone mounted on a tripod. I record on-course audio using DJI Mics. I add shot tracers using an app called "Shot Tracer Pro." I edit in Final Cut. Anything/everything else you see on screen was hacked together in PowerPoint :)
I got on the Bogey Train on Monday, but didn't panic ... just kept trying to keep double bogeys off my card. The Golf Gods rewarded me with a chip in birdie, and some great wedge shots coming down the stretch. It turned a certain 84 into an 80. Double bogeys are score killers, and if you can keep them off the card, you'll always have a chance at breaking 80 ...
Courses are 'rated' so that your raw score can be 'adjusted' for handicap purposes. The "rating" is essentially the expected score for a scratch (0.0 index) golfer. The slope is a bit more complicated, and it basically tells you how much more difficult the course is for a bogey golfer vs. a scratch golfer. Your raw score is put into a formula that accounts for the slope/rating in order to produce a "differential," which is essentially what your "handicap" was that particular day. This round, for instance, went into the computer as an 8.5 differential. If I played this course and shot this score every day, my handicap index would be 8.5 But your handicap is actually calculated by averaging out only the top 8 of your last 20 differentials.

How to score when you suck “be good at putting”😂😂
Practice? Putting is something you can do for free.
Doesn't hurt!
what do you expect? shooting low scores while being bad at everything including putting?
Thank god you’re back. I was beginning to worry… I find it hilarious there are still commenters giving you swing tips. The internet is incredulous!
lol thanks Stefan!
As a long time subscriber, it was a pleasure to play with you Adam! More to come!
You too, man. See ya tomorrow at Van Open!

TIA bud
Lovely course!
Great spot!
Adam, cool to run into you at VGC that day - I introduced myself just after you finished when we were in front of the pro shop. Great video!
Nice to see ya again in the comments! Thanks man.

I honestly don't even know how you make contact taking your swing so far back on the inside....Respect.

Tom Watson was the master of scoring well when his swing wasn't working.....
Tell that dude to stop whipping that cart around while you’re trying to setup to hit. Lol.

The same day this was posted, I shot a 53 on 9 HOLES in a Highschool Golf Match 😂😭
Come into Washington and let's play!
Thanks Adam, great video , mate what irons are you currently using? Takomo the sam as Golfsidekick? Just curious ,thnks
Haha. This video makes me miss you buddy!
Let's do a scramble and break 50. We can do retakes a la DJT!
Needed this. I play to a 13.4. Last round I lost my iron swing and shot 96. Will try an extra club if and when it happens again.
Bad rounds happen. I've got lots of 'em on the channel :p

A month has felt like a year since your last vid lol
For me, too!
Dude...I am a +1 and wish I had your short game!
The key to short game without practice is to miss more greens. 😁 I do recommend Dan Grieve '3 Releases' book and YT lessons given to celebs and pro's.
What shades do you wear?
Maui Jims. Won 'em in a golf tourney!
What’s with the magic disappearing ball at 3:48 ?
Let's go
What tees do you play?
The scorecard does not rank holes by difficulty.
Which course is this?
Vancouver Golf Club
What did your Pro say about the duffs? I saw your hips fly round and up as you make contact. Hole 8 compare your hip action on the approach shots.
Lots of upper body movement leading to an inconsistent low point.
Do you have your irons bent flat? Your heel is digging into the ground a lot.
I do. I'm 5'6" with super long arms, so my irons are 2-3° flat.
You don’t suck. I shot a 98 last week and I lost 6 balls and a club. I then damaged my foot kicking a tree stump when walking off the course 🤣
At least you shoot under 100 😂 I average about 110 😢
Well done James you made me laugh😂 I do the same
I bet the tree took it worse than you did :p
You free monday for a scramble in So Cal?
I wish! Will be down there in the Winter.
More over the top than Stallone
yep!
How long are these courses
I always put this in the beginning of the vid. This course was 6,400.
There’s no way that’s Alex Fitzpatrick was it? Guy in blue looks exactly like him!
Couldn't tell ya!
@@NotAScratchGolfer you just did😱

My scorecard lives and dies with my chipping. GIR and I don’t belong in the same sentence if I’m using anything over a gap wedge into the green 😑

Hey Adam.
Could you explain what the data in the intro means? Yardage i get, but "Rating" and "Slope"?

The slope is a bit more complicated, and it basically tells you how much more difficult the course is for a bogey golfer vs. a scratch golfer. If I played this course and shot this score every day, my handicap index would be 8.5 But your handicap is actually calculated by averaging out only the top 8 of your last 20 differentials.
