An adaptation of Irene Nemirovsky's novel of the same name, SUITE FRANCAISE charts the love affair between Lucille, a young French woman (Michelle Williams) and the German officer (Matthias Schoenaerts) assigned to watch her in 1940’s Nazi-occupied France.

Is Bruno's wedding band worn on the wrong hand? Since he is married, doesn't it have to be on the right hand if he were German?

The Bruno character wears a signet ring on his right hand. It's white gold with a black finish to the inlaid parts of the insignia. He takes it off and tries to put it on the tiny finger of Michelle Williams. She presses the ring briefly to her upper lip, then neatly turns around, slipping it back on his finger. Had he done that later instead of so early on, she may have accepted it.
