Absolutely love watching you guys. I agree with almost everything and agree with the realistic part of the camp and level but boy does it get tough to hear all the negatives every time. I know it’s y’all’s style but damn lads 😂
This year particularly, we have a coach who doesn't know MLS and the Winter Camp is a way for him to quickly see a lot of fringe and rising players.so this year it has been more valuable than other years.
What else did you want mcglynn to do? Scored a fantastic goal, had an assist, 97% pass completion…. He’s a deep lying midfielder not a winger or a 10…..
Most critics say his “speed of play” isn’t up to 1st team national level. That’s both in the foot speed category AND his lack of ability to anticipate. When he’s on the ball, he’s a half beat slow in making that next decision, which gets punished at a higher lever. His shooting and passing percentage was excellent today, but there’s more to evaluate than just that.
I enjoyed the game and do not think it is a waste of time. These players have an opportunity to make the main team if there are injuries. Constantly dumping on the January camp gets old. If nothing else, you can see the difference between Berhalter and Pochettino in coaching style and tactics.
The January Camp is mainly done to fulfill TV contracts, It doesn't interest a lot of fans if we just give away callups to an MLS all star squad playing against a poor domestic Venezuelan side. I am happy to see the team play very attacking football, but Tac and Pete are correct to call January camp what it is now, the purpose it serves to launch the USMNT to that next level is nonexistent, If you're not evaluating young talent you're giving caps to players that have no-little future with the program at World Cups, Copa Americas, maybe Gold Cups, etc. I enjoyed the game personally as well from an entertainment standpoint but in the grand scheme of things it's not as meaningful as it used to be.
Made a case for what, exactly? His surface level stats were fine against the inferior competition, but he still needs to play “faster” to make up for his lack of foot speed. What position to you see him as and who did he pass or get closer to in comparison based on this performance, in your opinion? For me, making a case means you’d consider him over guys ahead of him as is.
You guys crack on these USMNT who played against Venezuela 🇻🇪 but forgot how bad the USMNT played in Copa America with all the big names 😂 big shots who play in Europe
It feels like you’re missing the point of this camp. It’s more to see who deserves more looks and who doesn’t. It’s not to see who can immediately replace someone on the A team. So, from yesterday’s match, who do you want to see more of.
This is a competition for roster spots 20-25. I personally think that McGlynn earned another look, maybe even by some international scouts. Schulte making a case for 3rd goalie to push. Luna and Clark deserve another start and showed flashes - both are younger with upside. Agyemang would only be considered as a pure specialist… if we were down by 1-2 goals in the final 10-15 mins and need some headers air tossing balls into the box. He is a potential mismatch in the final minutes and may be worth of a 3rd striker spot in a final roster spot. He did produce, which is almost expected vs minnows, but he can also keep pushing the group and be a MLS late pathway inspirational pick for gold cup roster.
The idea that Poch should run a camp cupcake with a bunch if U20s and U23s assumes, doesn't it, that Pooch is going to be managing the 2030 cycle? No matter how he does with USA, I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves for a club job.
Good breakdown. None of these players are impressing me, only one I'd consider for the senior team is Shculte. I must say, Tessman is a center midfielder. If your looking for a CB it's still Maloney who was a CB when he was younger. Also Noahkai Banks deserves a call up. I know he's young, but I've seen enough. He's in a top 5 league, and should be given a shot to play. 😊
It did not play out like a GGG game. The USA were much more on the front foot. Some players did pretty well some were non factors and others were so so. McGlynn, Agyemang, Schulte were the best out of the group. Henry Gutierrez and Arfsten were pretty good. I was hoping to see more from White and Luna. The rest were forgettable. Interestingly the team coached by Poch did seem to have a flow and an urgency to move forward. I will say I get it that these are a distinct level below but this was much better than what I've seen with GGG. And I do think you are too negative on this group. Poch is taking a look at players. Stop with the US mindset when Poch is definitely running the show.
So Pete and Tac if we’re discussing a hypothetical B team, how come Ledezma doesn’t get a mention in the fullback position? He plays/starts in a better league, has champions league experience, and offers technical attributes at tge position Reynolds and Fossey don’t. I know he’s not as dynamic but doesn’t he deserve a mention too?
Matko took a terrible PK, and his "assist" was a clearance that bounced off him. The highlights were hard enough to watch. Glad I didn't realize the game was on.
Poch is looking for a depth piece, but he'll be hard pressed to find one. CR will be more of a test and hopefully Luna starts & shows well. McGlynn is overhyped. Sure, he's got a nice left foot and he's a decent passer but he lacks dribbling ability and he's not that quick.
I disagree that more people will tune in to watch no name children from European academies over their favortie local, professional MLS players. These guys hate MLS so much that it makes them bad analaysts. I remember what US soccer was like before MLS.
You guys are way too negative. It gets stale after awhile. Point being Pete saying CCV and Trusty have been poor. They’re fine. Particularly CCV has been playing above average. And it’s clear you guys don’t or won’t understand the political/admin side of coaching a national team. Disappointing. But also why I don’t follow Pete anymore
I disagree. Both are very familiar with the world standard and they comment accordingly. The vast majority of U.S. players just don't measure up. It does no good to hype someone who doesn't deserve it.
This camp isn't harmful. The most casual fan tunes in and sees no Pulisic and knows it's not the "real" team. Not harmful in any way. Poch is not an imbecile, haha! Diluting what it means to be a USMNT player..., WHAT?! 🤣🤣 Not harmful. Otherwise, love you guys! 😁
why us soccer following "ml$" NOT COVERING THE FAR SIDE AND GOAL LINES like soccer / football everywhere in the world with PROPER ELECTRIC ADVERTISING BOARDS it so amateurish and it DOES NOT LOOK GOOD ON TV.......come on please its TACKY
@@adamnitz4929 Until they're able to escape MLS they're not players but actors. The institution was founded with guarantees against pro/rel to protect owners from financial risk. Authentic competition can not be the product of such an institution. It is irredeemable. If and when these so-called "young players" escape to authentic leagues, I'll start watching.

i generally agree wit this take
Yea, from this stand point, I get it. Doesn’t make sense, then, why Ream or Robinson would be called in and play.
super proud of weah. showed his class at the world cup and now pushing double digit goal contri for JUVE
What else did you want mcglynn to do? Scored a fantastic goal, had an assist, 97% pass completion…. He’s a deep lying midfielder not a winger or a 10…..

This breakdown only being 30 mins says everything lol

Jack McGlynn definitely made a case

Great game, great win, congratulations to Poch!
You’re wrong, i like it the gane, good game to mcglynn and the center forward
Mcglynn looked good

Noahkai Banks ?? He has only played 1 half of professional soccer
I disagree . I was at the game . Mcglynne looked very good .
Incredibly consistent and tired schtick
They're struggling to find a new scapegoat now that Gregg is gone. They can't just be happy though. That wouldn't drive views.
thanks for insights as usual

I still believe Luna has something to offer the USMNT and will be on the 2026 roster.

I hope we see a Maloney call up, in March.
It basically is a 23 and under camp. And the Euro clubs are not going to release players with an actual future.
Matko took a terrible PK, and his "assist" was a clearance that bounced off him. The highlights were hard enough to watch. Glad I didn't realize the game was on.
Pochettino Brings out the hunger of the Lions 🦁 in the January Cupcake United States 🇺🇸 Team 😳🤔
The Argentinean asado (BBQ) looks delicious. Other than that - not much to see. Good idea to have the U21 scrimmage with this team.
Considering Tillman hates playing for the USMNT we should give Luna more chances to play the 10 lol.
What happened to Caden Clark? He looks bad. Lost the ball a lot.

Shaq Moore will win the Ballon d'Or someday.

Negative but he is mostly right though. He is very knowledgeable about the game.
I disagree. Both are very familiar with the world standard and they comment accordingly. The vast majority of U.S. players just don't measure up. It does no good to hype someone who doesn't deserve it.
Good game for r young players
Where is Cade cowell
Camp is outside of a FIFA window. Mexican clubs don't have to release their players.
Mr Author please advise this USMNT team shall be kept intact or i mean they will be camp for 12 12months (2025)?
Was a good win. Hope we can skip the step of people calling for these players to suddenly be crucial for the A team.
Tessman big tronco
Idk I think Luna good make a team
I’m glad I didn’t watch this game. It’s best to pretend the January Camp doesn’t exist.
Listening to the TV commentary was exhausting. They were desperately trying to make these players relevant.

Couldn't even bring myself to watch. MLS lifers masquerading as US internationals? Sorry, need to do some laundry.
Much better camp cupcake roster more young players getting a chance than the ol mls lifers
