This is very useful for taking a look at young upcoming talent. This gives seriously great mls talent a chance to shine. Don't bring current players or familiar ones.
Agree with everything except CB. Jackson Raegan has played well enough to merit a call up. Consistent with what you often say, he's more than good enough on the ball to have a look. He has more to give in 2026 than any of the teenagers. BTW surprised that Ngoma is on your radar.
The problem with McFarlane is that he’ll be moving to Manchester City in January. Since it’s not a FIFA window, I doubt they’d release him to play for us since we’re battling England for him (similar to Barcelona not releasing Kochen for U17/U20 camps at times). He’s also provisionally cap-tied to England.
Great vid Pete! January camps good for looking at young MLS Talent, and players in European academies with a high ceiling. If MLS moves their calendar to match with the european season, this could be one of the last January camps ever. Chris Brady and Brian Gutierrez should be here.
I'd bring Patrick Agyemang, personally. I'm a CLT fan in the interest of full disclosure, but I think he's pretty underrated. He has very little help on offense and was fighting with Swiderski for starts half the season and still managed 10 goals on one of the worst offenses in the league. Might as well give somebody a shot.
I kind of disagree about Jackson Ragen. He is 26, 6'6" tall, and Seattle have had the best defensive record for the past two years, and they play out of the back. I don't think he would be a starter, but the USMNT has been really bare at CB for one reason or another recently. Better than Miles Robinson fo' sho.
When it comes to Vasquez, I’d like to see Figueroa brought in ahead of him because we already know BV. BUT it seems like he’s currently 4th on the depth chart so more familiarity for Poch can’t hurt if our injury woes continue
I don't think Neal even starts for his club so hard to justify bringing him in at this point, maybe Jackson Regan but haven't watched enough of him to say for sure or not. Ferreira I would call in. I would also call in Putkas rather than Soma. High on Soma but would let him settle. The domestic forward situation is so terrible, I would consider dipping into the college ranks and looking at Alex Harris from Cornell.
I don't see the point in taking shots at Jackson Ragen. The only difference between Jackson Ragen and Jalen Neal is that Jalen Neal didn't get injured in his first Camp Cupcake invite. As a result, he was able to show his talent against Serbia and so USMNT people know who he is. Ragen has shown to be a top MLS center back. I think if Neal stays, he could be a top MLS center back as well but just hasn't been given the chance yet.
I’m pretty sure it exists due to broadcasting rights for U.S. Soccer since there aren’t enough games throughout the rest of the year to fill the requirements
From watching Cremaschi, I think he's miscast in the midfield. I'd really be interested to see what he could do if he got converted to a 9. That won't happen at Inter Miami though. But I like how he moves off the ball, he's got size, some athletic ability and can finish. For me his weakness is his passing and decisions in traffic, which makes me wonder what he's doing in the midfield. I think US youth club teams get starved for technical ability and when a kid comes along who has some, they decide to not waste him up top and move him into the midfield (we've been doing this forever, see Clint Dempsey). And so we don't develop any 9s with any technical ability.
Interested what you think. If you aren’t impressed with playing Slovenia or Venezuela “scrubs”, what if this team (your suggested team) played the “same ol’, same ‘ol” team?
Wouldn't be opposed to Luciano Acosta getting a call, as he might be eligible in 2025. Stiker pool is poor: call in Vazquez, Morris or White? Ouch. Maybe Pefok's team won't mind letting him go. Hoppe is always available. haha
There are too many holes in the senior team and too few days until the World Cup to make this a U20 camp. Poch needs to get a good look at some of these guys before the A team returns. We need to look at GKs and CDs especially. LB also. MLS, Mexico and Japan eligible. Roster: Gk: Schulte, Guzan, Freese, Celentano D: Neal, Zim, Ream, Ragen, Tolkin, Miller, Yedlin, Orquin, (maybe Kennedy Mikuni - just discovered him) MF: Mihailovic, McGlynn, Bassett, Sands, Cremaschi, Edelman AM: Luna, Cowell, Clark. Q. Sullivan, Berchimas, Agyemang ST: Morris, Vasquez, Markanich, Germain
Huh??? I much rather have those spots filled by young players on the up. Half the people you listed are useless to the team Guzan? Yedlin? Mihailovic? Morris?? Do you even watch soccer??
@@lennyjenkins9931 We have a new coach, two open goalkeeping slots to fill immediately, and our No.1 goalkeeper isn't starting, so he needs most of the USMNT minutes to get sharp. We need to look at guys who can play now at that position for sure.
@kevinbowen6182 But why look at guys who aren't even good in those positions? I would much rather bring some of the young Dual Nats that are getting some minutes in the Bundesliga than most of the people you stated. We should bring in young talented players that could be decent back ups and showcase them to the world. Again, most of the people you stated shouldn't even have a whiff of the National Team let alone a WC spot.
Theres a difference in bringing up a young player who has earned a look vs a “freebie”. Sullivan hasn’t even played past the u17 national team level and got 10 minutes of professional game time. It would be an extremely poor decision to bring him on at this point in time. If he can stand out at the u20 level then maybe consider a call up.
I’ll be honest if I was a European club I wouldn’t release any of my guys for this. The travel, injury risk and time away from training wouldn’t be worth it
Not a dumb question at all. Surprisingly, there is no minimum age to play an international game. I guess FIFA figures to sign a pro contract you have to be at least 16/18 & no countries are likely to cap a 15 year-old.
Yeah more of a nod towards one leader/captain to help guide the youngsters. Personally I'd like to see him as more of an assistant coach for this group long-term.
Need to stop calling this camp " Camp Cupcake" . It's disrespectful to the players who work their butt off to get a chance and represent their country. It's outdated and a stupid tradition from U.S supporters who use it. Just cringe.
¿Harriel?

Still can't get over how amazing the intro is Pete 👏
Rather see chances taken on "youth" than "failures at their prime years".
I agree with this take to use the camp to develop the next generation 🫡
Forwards: Dino Klapija, Jykese Fields or Marcos Zambrano
The intro is growing on me. The whole show had more energy and was done well.
Do you think MS-13 will release Luna to play in January? 🤔
Schulte is really good with his feet. This is how I know you don't watch MLS.

I really wish to see Nathaniel Brown we need him

I would bring Albert. At 5'10 he is a kid in a man's body with plenty of speed.
Pete when I see the thumbnail of this video and then I see the actual roster, I just feel bad lol
Liga MX Clausura starts back up Jan 15, not sure any of those players can play Camp Empanda
Idk dude since a lot of them aren't playing maybe Liga MX teams does rlease them for Camp Sushi
I don't think Neal even starts for his club so hard to justify bringing him in at this point, maybe Jackson Regan but haven't watched enough of him to say for sure or not. Ferreira I would call in. If Tim Ream must have a role with the USMNT, it must be as an assistant coach.
This is all such a good idea. Shame we don't build our depth.
It all comes down to who is going to be released

love in intro
Neal bench to Galaxy and you want him to national team? 🤣
Matt Freese should get a call and what the heck John McCarthy because I just like him.
I've decided that I like the intro
Peyton miller was very good this past year. He’s very mature. Easily the best American prospect the revs have ever had
Agreed. Camp Cupcake should become Camp Prospect.
Needs to be a MLS U-20 to U-23 camp only, with some Europe prospects. No more MLS lifers.
John Tolkin getting nutmeg'd in the MLS Final was so good. Lol
He was getting torched that whole game. His stock went down massively for me after that game
The only issue is that there is a u20 camp that is scheduled at the same time.

Boycotting the like button until the intro is changed
@@Luckydogrocky lol fair
Pullistic on injury but whose gonna lock in

Acosta isn't eligible until 2026 and it looks like he's leaving Cincinnati. Might be going to Argentina, which would end his chances altogether.
What about Luca de la torre

Cavan Sullivan. They might as well make it interesting by inviting younger players

Wiley, Paredes or Slonina?
😳🤔, Pochettino is watching Americans players Home and abroad Performance and knows what he have, what he need to get , what he needs to Change, etc 😳🤔
Bring some dual national Japanese Americans

Nathaniel brown , anrie chase damion dows , luca Koleosho tyler meiser ?
No Mathis Albert? If Berchimas is in the running would Albert be in the mix or is he too young?
Grayson dettoni?
You change the intro?
What happened to Clark ?
BBL Shaq Moore is more than a depth piece Pete
Schulte has already had his chances, replace him with the nycfc gk
I totally don’t understand your Tim Ream inclusion?? Or at least very little elaboration on the matter. Is it to give guidance and leadership?
Yeah more of a nod towards one leader/captain to help guide the youngsters. Personally I'd like to see him as more of an assistant coach for this group long-term.
@ ok that’s what I thought and I agree. Thanks for the response brotha, keep up the great work!

improve? Hes always been good for the NT
