I got a pair about 2 months into the hobbie and they spawned 3 days after I got them. 50 went back to my lfs and I still have 12. Setting up a 33 long tonight cause I now have 3 paired off. Pencil fish and Ottos for tank mates. Cool video.
You're a great Apisto keeper. Tetras as dither fish will keep them happy. May I suggest more tannin. Dwarf Southies like murky water, especially when you want to breed hardheaded Apistos. Spawn mops are great, but that tannin sauce makes Apistos go full Bill Cosby.
I have a sexed pair of Triple Reds. Tank mates are Cory cats, Oto cats, school of rummynoses, school of Cardinal tetras, 3 Celestial Danios, and two Zebra Danios. The Apistos get along with everyone. I’ve caught one of the Cardinals tailnipping the male Apisto, but only one time. The only thing that hasn’t gone well were 15 Dwarf shrimp that I put in the tank...... only 3 survived the Apistos terror. Also my female is usually really docile, but she was aggressive towards everything for about two days recently. Color changed and she attacked anything that came near her cave. She either spawned or was trying to get the males attention. Haven’t checked for eggs yet.
I'd say yes, if your tank is big enough (40+ gal?). I've learned it the hard way, that even though these are considered more peaceful cichilids, they are still cichlids.
I have a 75 gal with like 22 neon tetras, 10 harlequin rasboras, 24 chili rasboras, 10 green rasboras, 5 scarlet badis, 4 peacock gudgeon, 1 betta, and 1 pea puffer you think an apisto could work here?
I genuinely can’t believe this, a pea puffer with a beta ? Plus 5 scarlet badis. Not a chance. And by some weird reality this is genuinely real. A apistograma would not work
I just got my first breeding set of Apistogramma cacatuoides, I have them in a tank with a juvenile fire mouth cichlid and electric blue acara, will they be fine or should I move them? I’m new to the dwarf cichlids and cichlids in general
I'm going to escape my 10 gallon aquarium that houses my kribensis(is going to go into my 29 with my gouramis) and I'm looking at a male apisto cacatuoides. Would a male apisto work with say white clouds, pygmy cories, otos?
Hello mate, I have a couple of Ramirezis for 3 months. Then I also have a male Apistogramma Borelli, do you think I can put other cyclids like apistogramma agassizi or catatuoid together? Would it be better to have different males with my ramirezis partner so they don't breed and get aggressive during mating?
I've seen a bristlenose muscle in on apisto spawn. They are fine outside of this of course, but you're running a risk in a breeding siutation. Mileage may vary.
@@KeepingFishSimple did u see the url in the 55 gallon tank comments its about the baby kribensis if not here is the urlruclips.net/video/21oPuQm3e0s/видео.html
:( always have a little pang of sadness every time u list apisto species and dont say njisseni lol. They are what I have, and funnily enough I've kept them since I started the hobby. I keep mine with BNs, ember tetras, and endlers. Been considering the dwarf neons rainbows. Also used to have some rocket killies, but even though their parameters align perfectly with the apistos, and they are top-dwelling schooling fish, it's not a good match-up.
@@KeepingFishSimple yeah probably. Mine were quite young as well. It's a shame because they're such a beautiful fish. How are your apisto fry? Mine are all growing at different sizes as I haven't been able to get them on baby brine, shops are all sold out of that strangely.... such cute fry though compared to most species.
I have dwarf Ciclids with Goldfish (comets, fantails), neons, glass catfish, nannostomus and some ancistrus :))....... P.S. : and 4 Molly's :)) My apistogramma's are quite shy and don't bother even the neons, which sometimes run for their lives....
I was going to put a pep brittle nose with my apisto's but decided not to because plecos as we all know are shit machines. Lots of pleco crap means lots of ammonia in a 100lt planted tank.

Thanks for the video, what about Kuhli loach?
Will Plecos compete for caves/hiding spots in a 20 gal long with just 1 male apisto panda?

Ah yes now I have to pick between getting a frog or changing my fish tank and getting one of these
I wonder if these could be kept with Rainbowfish?
They can
Good day!
Can i keep different types of dwarf cichlids in a community setup?

Angelfish compatible?

The Fry, but not those bigger than their mouth.

I’m getting better!
How are your kribensis
At the LFS. Ran out of tanks to put them in

How big does the apistogramma get
Roughly 8cm for the males, and 6cm for the females, but it depends on species and age.
Your man saved me
Caelan Haramis thank you

I think the killis are a little bit slower so maybe that’s why

I’d do maybe egg yolk or crushed flakes, but if you do egg yolk make sure it doesn’t dirty water
