  • Want to see how I set up my apistogramma tank, MISTAKES and all? My apisto cichlid arrived while I was setting up their tropical South American cichlid tank, so I had to hurry! And a few things didn’t go as planned. Watch as I get everything done to the best of my ability, and maybe you’ll like what you see. Or even better - maybe you’ll learn something. I did! Be sure to leave a comment with any experience you have with apistos, or any questions you might have. Thanks for watching!
Cichlid Charmer is dedicated to sharing the joy of keeping African cichlids and American cichlids and sharing information about them. Much of my content is not cichlid fish specific, however. It also pertains to all tropical fish aquariums. I will share what I have learned about cichlids and other fish, and everyone is welcomed to comment with their own experiences and information about fish and aquarium practices in general.

FYI- add t.p. wad (small) between wood/wood, rock/wood connections when using super glue(liquid glue). Some fumes may rise from glue paper mix - toxic, so do in a well ventilated area. Good solid connections with this method. Good luck on your shaping journey.😊

Hi Matt. So you can use any filter media from an established tank. Having a sponge filter in a stocked tank is nice and easy. Just transfer the sponge filter to the new tank. Or you can rob some ceramic rings from a canister or HOB.
