Hello again, you guys have inspired us and gave us the courage to make the big decision to sell our home and hit the road in a motor home and see the US and Canada. I am so excited. 😊
You will never regret it. My husband and I lived full-time in a motorhome for 14 years and would’ve kept going had he not passed away in 2016. We were to just about every state in the United States more than once and many provinces in Canada. We love absolutely every minute of it. We tried to stay away from Tourist spots. You’ll meet amazing people and you will never be alone because when you get to campgrounds, everybody is your family. Everyone helps everyone and when you’re on the road if you have a problem and you pull over, you would not believe how many RV years will pull over with you. Be sure and talk to people in the different campgrounds because that’s how you learn where all the interesting places are other than tourist traps. We drove the Alcan. My husband was retired military so we were with a group of retired military and we did a caravan for 65 days through Canada and the US along the Alcan highway. It’s an amazing life and you will never regret doing it.
How wonderful! Your description sounds so much like the boating community, with everyone lending a helping hand and sharing information wherever you go. We likened our new narrowboat life to RVing to our American friends, but on water with no traffic jams! Sad to hear you had to give up that life on your husband’s passing, but I have also said the same if anything should happen to Pete. I don’t think I would want to do it alone ❤️
I do hope you have a wonderful time and get to see parts of Canada while doing it. I live north of Toronto and we are seeing all the autumn maple and oaks colours.

Hi Pete and Caroline, another lovely, relaxing vlog, thank you. I don't expect you remember but I commented a couple of months ago telling you how my husband's employer was selling the estate we worked and lived on. Well we have managed to buy a park home nearby which gives us housing security and it looks like the new buyers will keep my husband on as their gardener. Watching narrowboat vlogs has helped us with down sizing! Also thank you for responding to my last comment. It’s a whole new adventure for them adding Percy to the mix isn’t it! We have loved watching the start of their new travels further afield. We always have a lovely time when we all get together, humans and dogs 😊

It's ages since I virtually gongoozled the Stratford, lovely to see it again! Those farm bridges are double cantilevers with a slit in the middle for the towrope to pass through (saving the need for an expensive turnover bridge). I noticed that some of them have had the slit filled in to give an uninterrupted roadway above. That Fleur de Lys pub looks magnificent! I look forward to next time!
It’s such a beautiful canal, and even better in that glorious weather. I’m actually editing the next video in the Stratford series where I’ve explained about the tow rope slit. Infact I was laughing at my 4 attempts on camera to do it correctly without stumbling over my words! I should save them all up for an outtakes video one day 😂. The Fleur de Lys pub is wonderful, with that huge canal side garden, but I have to say Fran’s pie was better and far cheaper! 😊

Wow 1985, back in the olden days as Alex once said! I remember the M40 being the new motorway and being excited to go down to London on it instead of the M1! You know as well as we do how many different personalities there are within the same breed. Westies are the best, and yes we are totally biased 😊❤️
It was very nice to see two of my favorite couples and four favorite pups together. I had just finished watching their first Percy vlog, which is going to be an interesting adjunct to their boating ones. It was interesting to see that the paddles continue to be produced. We knew there would be some happy viewers for this video Leigh! We loved seeing our favourites meet up too when we were avidly watching so many narrowboat vlogs sat on our sofa in Texas! We gave Fran and Rich a ride to pick up the keys for Percy when they went bought him. Such an exciting day! It had opened up a whole new perfect world for them. Exploring by boat and van! We’ve seen then working installing new locks gates, but never the actual transportation, and you’re right it would be good to see that part of the process! 😊

Been watching your vlogs for quite awhile, very relaxing and love the pictures and music. Caroline you are too nice by far, with some comments. But that’s why your vlogs are so pleasant.
That’s so lovely to hear that you’re enjoying the videos, and always reassuring that we are doing something right. In my responses to not so positive comments I always try to make them stop and think about why something is how it is, and perhaps their comment was not actually justified when they know the behind the scenes. Then there are those users who just troll channels for some sort of bizarre enjoyment from winding up creators, and I try to not rise to them and give them what they want, and often just politely thank them for watching 😂

We had a log jam on the Llangollen last year. There were a lot of hire boats in the queue for some their first lock so I helped a bunch of boats through! We were lucky to still find mooring once through there. What a lovely vlog! I wish I could have had some of the pie! Yum!!!

Nothing like warm summer weather. Sadly I just turned on the furnace here. By Tuesday our high will be 54F and low of 29F - jour first below freezing temp. Our first frost of the fall either Monday night or Tuesday night. So bring warm clothes, being near the lake up there is always cooler. Have a safe trip. We had such lovely weather on this vlog didn’t we! Wish we had had more of those days this summer and not so much rain! I saw the temperatures are going quite low while we are in WI. We had our first frost here this week, so beautiful but a sign that proper winter is on the way. Stay well 😊

So glad you enjoyed it Heidi! We are glad we can take you along with us virtually. We will be on the Llangollen Canal again this winter, same as 2 years ago. We absolutely loved it. So many lovely little towns along the way, and of course the Pontcysyllte Aqueuct 😊
That’s so good to hear Michelle! We have a cruiser stern which is great for getting on and off with the dogs, and Poppy has somewhere to sit and be nosey while we are cruising! If we were doing it again we would choose a semi-cruiser stern, which has only really become an option since we had our boat built. We would prefer to have our seating in front of the arc of the tiller arm, so there’s more of an accessible seating area to enjoy while we are cruising. We would also (well me really as I’m shorter) have the seating lower to be more comfortable! Pete doesn’t really think this is an issue though as his feet can reach the floor 😂

Hey Guys, sorry for not commenting lately but things have been kind of busy around these here parts (as we say here in the south...lol) and I think I've fallen 2 or 3 videos behind. For the past 2 years we have been planning and building what I call our sunset years home on some land we bought, and we finally started to move in last weekend. It's been pretty hectic and it's wearing me out! lol... I have a few videos to catch up on with you guys, Paul and Anthony, Julie and Martin... but sitting in my ez-chair at the end of the day trying to catch up, I usually find myself waking up about the time the videos end. 😄 Anyway, I'll give it my best! Well, it's about time for me to plug in the heating pad, take a couple of Ibuprofen, look in the mirror and wonder where all those gray hairs came from and where all those years went then hit the hay.... and toss and turn wondering why the heck I can fall asleep before my butt even gets warm in my ez-chair but spend an hour lying awake in bed! 🤪 Thanks for another one! We have a few friends with a semi trad with dogs. The dogs stay behind the doors in the seated area while the eh are cruising, and have got used to getting on and off in the smaller area. Check out a RUclips channel Floating Our Boat and you can see their dogs getting on and off 😊

Hi there! We can really only speak confidently about our own boat builder, Russell Narrowboats in Burton Upon Trent. We have been very happy with their workmanship and build quality, and adaptability to bring our design ideas to life, and their customer service and aftercare has been excellent. The best advice we can give is visit the Crick Boat Show and tour the boats yourself, paying very close attention to the build quality and workmanship. All that glitters is not gold! Also speak to as many owners as possible for their honest opinions about their build experience with their builder. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching 😊
Hi Both and the kids🦴 The bow storage area looked good, can we have a better look at the design of them, may copy. No storage in my boat bow, so I hope I can sort some storage/sitting boxes (wood)and use them as steps and be able to get to fill water on the side. Drainage square cut and fixed👍😁x🐇x
Hi Julie! We actually don’t have any seating or lockers in our well deck. It’s just an open area that we use to store folding chairs, the folding bike, coal, logs, ash bucket and one of the spare cassettes, and full bin bags that we are waiting to dispose of. It really is our garage on the boat. I’m glad we have our water filling point on the side unlike some friends who have it in the floor of the well deck. So much more accessible than getting when everything out to access it. We have the locker in the actual bow, that’s separate from the well deck, accessed from the top lift up hatch. We store our hose in there but there’s quite a bit more storage under that for things we don’t need to often. Wow 1985, back in the olden days as Alex once said! I remember the M40 being the new motorway and being excited to go down to London on it instead of the M1! You know as well as we do how many different personalities there are within the same breed. Westies are the best, and yes we are totally biased 😊❤️
It was very nice to see two of my favorite couples and four favorite pups together. I had just finished watching their first Percy vlog, which is going to be an interesting adjunct to their boating ones. It was interesting to see that the paddles continue to be produced. Must be interesting transporting then from factory to lock. You guys be well. Leigh
We knew there would be some happy viewers for this video Leigh! We loved seeing our favourites meet up too when we were avidly watching so many narrowboat vlogs sat on our sofa in Texas! We gave Fran and Rich a ride to pick up the keys for Percy when they went bought him. Such an exciting day! It had opened up a whole new perfect world for them. Exploring by boat and van! We’ve seen then working installing new locks gates, but never the actual transportation, and you’re right it would be good to see that part of the process! 😊

Been watching your vlogs for quite awhile, very relaxing and love the pictures and music. Caroline you are too nice by far, with some comments. But that’s why your vlogs are so pleasant.
That’s so lovely to hear that you’re enjoying the videos, and always reassuring that we are doing something right. In my responses to not so positive comments I always try to make them stop and think about why something is how it is, and perhaps their comment was not actually justified when they know the behind the scenes. Then there are those users who just troll channels for some sort of bizarre enjoyment from winding up creators, and I try to not rise to them and give them what they want, and often just politely thank them for watching 😂

We had a log jam on the Llangollen last year. There were a lot of hire boats in the queue for some their first lock so I helped a bunch of boats through! We were lucky to still find mooring once through there. What a lovely vlog! I wish I could have had some of the pie! Yum!!!
Glad you enjoyed it Justine! Fran’s pie was wonderful! Those are the stories that we have heard about the Llangollen but never really experienced, I think as we are here out of season. Although the new year holiday was busy with hire boats through the Chirk tunnel! 😊
Nothing like warm summer weather. Sadly I just turned on the furnace here. By Tuesday our high will be 54F and low of 29F - jour first below freezing temp. Our first frost of the fall either Monday night or Tuesday night. So bring warm clothes, being near the lake up there is always cooler. Have a safe trip. We had such lovely weather on this vlog didn’t we! Wish we had had more of those days this summer and not so much rain! I saw the temperatures are going quite low while we are in WI. We had our first frost here this week, so beautiful but a sign that proper winter is on the way. Stay well 😊

That’s so good to hear Michelle! We have a cruiser stern which is great for getting on and off with the dogs, and Poppy has somewhere to sit and be nosey while we are cruising! If we were doing it again we would choose a semi-cruiser stern, which has only really become an option since we had our boat built. We would prefer to have our seating in front of the arc of the tiller arm, so there’s more of an accessible seating area to enjoy while we are cruising. We would also (well me really as I’m shorter) have the seating lower to be more comfortable! Pete doesn’t really think this is an issue though as his feet can reach the floor 😂

Hey Guys, sorry for not commenting lately but things have been kind of busy around these here parts (as we say here in the south...lol) and I think I've fallen 2 or 3 videos behind. For the past 2 years we have been planning and building what I call our sunset years home on some land we bought, and we finally started to move in last weekend. It's been pretty hectic and it's wearing me out! lol... I have a few videos to catch up on with you guys, Paul and Anthony, Julie and Martin... but sitting in my ez-chair at the end of the day trying to catch up, I usually find myself waking up about the time the videos end. 😄 Anyway, I'll give it my best! Well, it's about time for me to plug in the heating pad, take a couple of Ibuprofen, look in the mirror and wonder where all those gray hairs came from and where all those years went then hit the hay.... and toss and turn wondering why the heck I can fall asleep before my butt even gets warm in my ez-chair but spend an hour lying awake in bed! 🤪

We have a few friends with a semi trad with dogs. The dogs stay behind the doors in the seated area while the eh are cruising, and have got used to getting on and off in the smaller area. Check out a RUclips channel Floating Our Boat and you can see their dogs getting on and off 😊

Hi there! We can really only speak confidently about our own boat builder, Russell Narrowboats in Burton Upon Trent. We have been very happy with their workmanship and build quality, and adaptability to bring our design ideas to life, and their customer service and aftercare has been excellent. The best advice we can give is visit the Crick Boat Show and tour the boats yourself, paying very close attention to the build quality and workmanship. All that glitters is not gold! Also speak to as many owners as possible for their honest opinions about their build experience with their builder. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching 😊
Hi Both and the kids🦴 The bow storage area looked good, can we have a better look at the design of them, may copy. No storage in my boat bow, so I hope I can sort some storage/sitting boxes (wood)and use them as steps and be able to get to fill water on the side. Drainage square cut and fixed👍😁x🐇x
Hi Julie! We actually don’t have any seating or lockers in our well deck. It’s just an open area that we use to store folding chairs, the folding bike, coal, logs, ash bucket and one of the spare cassettes, and full bin bags that we are waiting to dispose of. It really is our garage on the boat. I’m glad we have our water filling point on the side unlike some friends who have it in the floor of the well deck. So much more accessible than getting when everything out to access it. We have the locker in the actual bow, that’s separate from the well deck, accessed from the top lift up hatch. We store our hose in there but there’s quite a bit more storage under that for things we don’t need to often.
