- The only measure of an instrument’s quality is whether it inspires new music to come out of you: There is something about the way it sounds and interacts with you that, once your hands hit that first chord, you instantly hear the next, and then a whole unique world, a distinct network of musical possibilities occurs to you.
What I love about my Prophet, or any good synth, is that it’s not an instrument so much as hundreds of them. It’s not one instrument within which you adjust the settings; it’s a machine with which you create instruments. You set the parameters within which it behaves; you set the rules by which it responds to input, and then you learn to play it.
Here’s an instrument I created, and what it inspired me to play lately. Maybe it’ll be a song.

So true my dude. This is why I first got into synths. Being able to make sounds that end up dictating what you play through them. You come across some stuff in the patching process and the right thing to play just presents itself.
TRANCE WILL NEVER DIE

Oh man, that's so beautiful!. I love your melody and patch, would you like to share patch settings?
Thanks! I’ll consider making a video of how I made the patch
@@LachlanVines hey! I just realised that we are in the same prophet Facebook group. I left you a private message, please check your others/spam inbox.
Sounds amazing! What verb?
I was using a reverb in my DAW. I can't remember specifically but it would've been Valhalla - either Vintage Verb or Shimmer.
Sounds like shimmer has that tail end of shimmer.
