Question i have a 2004 f150 5.4 heritage. Do i need just oil or i will have to add some friction modifier and how much? Also ill be using the valvoline 75w/140 synthetic
I'm not 100% sure...but I'm like 98% sure the rear gasket is exactly the same as the front gasket. I'm 98% sure you can order the rear and it will fit on the front.
For the rear 9.75 it's 3 quarts and 4oz of additive, for the front I believe it's the 8.8 diff and it's 2.75 quarts also the gear oil he was using has the additive but you still want to add 4oz extra additive in the rear.
Looks nice after you are done! I can't believe how tan the old oil was!
Front and rear diff covers are the same? it looks like the 8.8 one
Can you used brake clean to spray the old oil on the gears (inside)
Or is carb clean required
Either one is fine. Thanks for watching!

This crazy how similar this differential is to 2017 I wonder if these are the same differentials?
More than likely. Thanks for watching!
Where did you get the gasket? I can seem to find one for the front differential.

How many quarts did it take

Also I would go with the 75w/140 gear oil if your towing and or towing in 4x4
WE DID WANT TO WATCH
Want to watch what? Haha sorry I don't remember what I said.
Friction modifier is not required for front diff, correct?
Correct. On this truck it does not have a limited slip. Some do, I believe if you have a FX4 it had one. Thanks for watching!
