I've spent about 6 years learning Korean and didn't see much improvement until i started following Stephen Krashen"s theory. I thought I just need to cram grammar and and vocab and that maybe i just wasn't learning enough of it but I never actually listened to the language much I realized. Once I started listening, listening, listening I started really improving.

The wildest part is that I literally grew up in Hong Kong, studied it in school for 10 years, and still can't read a restaurant menu. Wow, what a video! I've been working away at my Japanese for 3 years now. Completed Wanikani in just under 2 years and have spent the last 6 months doing sentence mining with Anki and Migaku. I'm at 11000+ words now, but my actual Japanese ability is really poor. I've spent a lot of time learning and not nearly enough time acquiring. This video was the sign I needed to really knucle down. From here on out, I'm cutting out all English entertainment (within reason), and getting as much immersion as humanly possible. Thank you!

Honestly, as someone who learned English from scratch at the start of my teenage years, I can probably offer some insight into the process, but you basically did what I did. I basically replicated what a baby would need to do to learn a language from scratch - heavy amounts of exposure via TV, copy the sounds and try to speak the words, read the subtitles, and then start writing and learning vocab. I would say, if you are curious about what a word is in Japanese all of the sudden, don’t wait for it to come up in your app, just look it up! Feed your curiosity, because your mind forms association this way, and you will retain information better this way.
Exactly- this is how everybody acquires language because WE ALL do it the same way! EVERYBODY learns their first language this way, and the same principle should apply to every other language after that!
@@JouzuJuls yup, and remember how as a kid you always asked questions about stuff when you were curious or didn’t understand it? That’s your mind seeking new information and new connections to make! Neurons want to form networks and strengthen the signals, it’s how we grow, adapt, and overcome challenges. So when you get that feeling of “I wonder what this is…” don’t let it go unanswered! Seek out the answer, and you will find that next time you recall the info, you might even recall the moment you looked it up!

Your story of learning Japanese inspired me a lot. I’ve lost 2 years because of the wrong way of learning language. After watching yours and Cure Dolly’s videos I realized a lot. I’m not a native speaker of English but I try to learn both languages. While my studies I use different books(grammar, dictionary and etc.). In my opinion using such books is necessary and important. I have no idea how to increase my knowledge of Japanese in a more effective way. I love this language and would like to speak it fluently. In fact my wish is to it as native speakers do, so, after watching your videos I decided to follow your methodology. I have a friend who passed n1 in two years without taking classes, while living in America. He had never even heard of ajatt/refold or Anki. He used Nakama 1&2 and Tobira textbooks. His accent was terrible at that time though. He’s gone on to improve his speaking ability since then. Even been on a few Japanese kanji game shows. I believe half of learning comes down to effort, consistency and time on task.

I've learnt hiragana and katakana aswell as a bit of kanji and grammar but I just don't know what tool to use to learn basic words and go to the next level. Do you have any tips?

When starting out, I recommend using thw Core 2K deck. I'd love to link you to mine but, as I said in the video- 20,000 wasted cards so. . Right now I'm helping my girlfriend get started, she's on her second month now and she's been using a modified version of my Core 2K. . I guess what you can do now is just get any random Core 2K and just get started (or maybe do some research on which is best). I'll make a tutorial on how I changed my cards to the way they currently are now sometime next month. . As for Kanji and Grammar, first of all, I'm not sure I have the right to talk about Kanji since I knew basic Kanji from birth (I'm Chinese), but I can't read Chinese. I used RTK to help boost my Kanji learning speed but I don't recommend it because it's too taxing on mental stamina. That being said, that IS the best option and was VERY effective. . For grammar, Cure Dolly Sensei is the best resource. I would NOT use Tae Kim, Cure Dolly's videos explain why. I understand Cure Dolly may be hard to get into, which is why I remade her most important videos myself. I plan to make more in the future as well. . Bro... How did you use Yakuza 0 to learn Japanese? 😅 I absolutely love the Yakuza games and would kill to be able to use them for immersion learning, but I don't know how best to do that... Do you just use Japanese subtitles? Or do you have some kind of translation script somewhere?
@@japanese2811 Assuming you're already familiar with the whole idea of language learning and the immersion approach and sentence mining. Step 1 is to play the game first, you can even play it in English, doesn't matter. Point is to get you hooked and also so you understand the story. Step 2 is to either replay it in Japanese, or, even better watch a Japanese streamer replay it in Japanese. The Yakuza games are very popular and many streamers play it and have clips in Japanese too. The clips are the best as they often have subtitles for the streamer as well as the game. All of those provided a perfect opportunity not just for immersion, but for sentence mining too 😎

I've played Yakuza 0 to the very death in English, so I always think it's a great candidate for a learning experience but I get so scared of all the kanji coming my way if I put on Japanese subtitles 🤣 I think the hardest challenge for me has been actually making out what the more heavy accented guys (especially the Kansai-ben guys) are saying. That's why I was wondering if there's maybe a translation somewhere. But anyway, let me give it a shot! Lately I've found that I can clearly hear when anyone speaks polite Japanese (Han Joongi, my boy 💪), but the casual stuff is rough listening wise... Thank you once again brother 🙏
@@japanese2811 A lot of streamers from Hololive have played the game, the most recent being Okayu who really cared about the charas and cried at the end. Then there's another from Nijisanji who's such maniac she's played through literally all the games called Nui Sociere. Instead of just watching a single streamer, I'd recommend watching the compilations first cuz it'll introduce you to many different faces. This approach is great, wish I'd started using this method. I'm exactly 3 months into my studies, completed Genki 1 and 2, and am just past n4 level for the most part. I'm 3 chapters into Tobira, but am very likely switching to immersion based learning. My only concern is, where do I get grammar knowledge from? My mind is already accustomed to getting it from textbooks, so for this approach it doesn't quite click with me yet. Do I simply add sentence cards to Anki and review them enough times until I notice patterns? Also, insane video quality on every video of yours I've watched. Very helpful stuff and I can tell you put a lot of work into these, so seriously thank you! Hope I can easily make the transition.
Most of the grammar you've learned from textbooks, especially Genki, are actually "wrong". As in they break apart when under scrutiny and at the end of the day are only explained by "you'll get a feel for it". . But the reality is that Japanese grammar is very simple and very logical, much more so than English. The textbooks simply misteach it to the point where it starts CREATING questions that don't even exist (such as は vs が). . Yes, you *can* learn Grammar just via nothing but immersion and "get a feel for it", however- this approach is quite slow and fuzzy indeed. . What I would recommend instead is learning about the TRUE structure of Japanese via either my video here ruclips.net/video/E_aR2F05dEc/видео.html . Or my teacher, Cure Dolly Sensei: ruclips.net/channel/UCkdmU8hGK4Fg3LghTVtKltQ . These videos may seem complex to understand at first, but it will only seem that way if you've been brainwashed by textbook "eihongo" grammar. So I'd recommend throwing everything you know from the textbooks & Tae Kim out the window while watching these videos. . Furthermore, just watching grammar guides and grammar explanations aren't enough. Remember that comprehensible input must be used alongside active study. . Thank you for the detailed response! Spent two days marking vocabulary words in the Core2k deck that I learned already, and am trying immersion for the first time now. I was a little confused prior to trying it, but everything you mentioned kinda clicks now. Can't wait to implement this approach more! And once again, thank you for these videos. Fml I know I learned 石鹸 some day long ago but I kinda forgot it. Thank you for refreshing my memory, I feel like 石鹸 is really important 😂 What I personally find most impressive btw is how you ace the pitch accent stuff, maybe it's because you come from a Hong Kong background. I know the patterns and can differentiate them most of the times but I really dont watch out for the pitch when I'm reading and immersion at all...big troubles
The important part about soap is to remember to call soap 石鹸 and not ソープ because that's something ENTIRELY different 😂 . Thanks for your compliment, but I certainly don't ace the pitch accent stuff at all, I'm able to pick up multiple mistakes in the interview video as well. I'm not sure if my background has anything to do with it since I don't know the technicalities behind Cantonese/Mandarin pronunciation but I wouldn't be surprised. I'm using my girlfriend as a guinea pig right now and I'm teaching her some pitch accent stuff (she started learning Japanese like 2 months ago), so let's see where she's at in 2 years too. . Furthermore, I don't make it a point to actively pay attention to pitch at all when I'm immersing, matter of fact- I completely zone out and forget I'm even trying to learn Japanese when I'm immersing. That's NOT to say I don't NOTICE the pitch tho, it just happens completely unconsciously. . As an example, I was playing Yakuza 0 the other day and parts of that game are set in Osaka, so they speak Kansai-ben where some of the pitches are flipped. I noticed that one of the girls said お寿司 as おす↓し (like an English speaker) instead of おすし→ like how it is in standard. I wasn't particularly trying to listen for differences, I just noticed that it sounded different than what I expected. . I believe that taking the time to drill pitch till you unconsciously are able to pick it up is worth doing because it really shouldn't take that long if you do it right, and then the skill stays forever and you don't even need to activate it. (Not sure if you play Arknights but it's kinda like Skalter's S2- wait a bit and you have a permanent passive buff!) ☺
@@JouzuJuls well sounds like I'm really not able to do it unconsciously...it's really hard for me even when I try to differentiate the patterns with full focus, Heiban is easy but Nakadaka is what I struggle most with I think at the moment I would never notice that they say sushi with another pitch than regular I really want this buff 😂

Someone asked on Discord about this exact thing a few days before this video came out, if you hop on #general-jp right now and scroll up a bit, you might see my giant block of text on pitch accent. . Lemme know if you can't find it and I'll just pin it there
2 weeks? I stopped doing it after 3 days. I guess I'll have to elaborate on my process in an actual video. It could be that everybody's speed of picking this up is different, or it could be that you may not be using it very efficiently. Hopefully it's the latter so we can actually do something actionable to speed it up!
Excellent video! Question: for sentence cards/sample sentences on text/audio vocab cards, do you use and/or rely on English translations? I'm trying (at least for vocab cards) to move to *very* simple monolingual definitions with an expandable dropdown button using an English one if I need it. I've been trying to figure out a good sentence card format that doesn't rely to much on translations (to try and "visualize" the sentence), but I haven't figured out anything that conveys meaning to me well without them at my current stage.
Hey, thanks for watching and commenting! I'm a bit confused by your question but I think I got the gist of it. If you're asking about how you should approach the monolingual transition, then I think you're doing the right thing. I personally use Japanese definitions for the most part. Occasionally I'll have some English there if I can't read the JP definition (or I have some really old cards from last year that I haven't studied, and I'm too lazy to update them). The monolingual transition is not a 1 step thing where one day you'll just use 100% Japanese. What you're doing by easing in Japanese definitions where you can is the right thing. I would also try to mine 1 layer deep in Japanese definitions (when you feel like it). As in, look at the definition for any words you don't know that show up all the time, and learn them with the Eng definition. Eventually, you'll just start using the JP definitions more as you get more comfortable. Everybody will take a different amount of time :)

What I've doing with J-J dictionaries is looking up new words/words I already know and seeing if there's recurring dictionary vocab (to help navigate them easier) or other unknown vocab then putting them in a notepad to make future cards with (mostly been using a monoling transition pack for qolibri). It's actually been a pretty practical way to get relevant vocab for me at my early stage!
So I'm kind of confused about cards where you have to recall the definition. What do you do if a word has several different meanings? For example, I'm learning Spanish right now and just 1 word can have many different nuances. How would you go about recalling a definition that is very long?
You don't. Anki's purpose is not to allow you to "acquire" the language (truly understand the ins and outs- all the nuances and stuff). Anki's job is to give you a simple mental note that something exists, allowing you to recall it in immersion- thus developing language acquisition. . So what do I do when a word has multiple definitions? . It depends on how different the definitions are. . In Japanese, I think all the words share quite a similar meaning even when they mean something different, so it's not THAT much of a problem. So I'll use English for an example of something that's completely different. . Proceed (move forward) vs Proceeds (donations). . When creating the Anki card for the word Proceed, you will take the most common definition- in this case, "move forward" is much more common than "donations. . So the entire time you will know the word "Proceed" as only meaning "move forward"- that will be until you run into a sentence in the wild like "The church will be taking proceeds this Sunday". . To which you will go ??, prompting you to either look it up, or see what's going on on Sunday and just understand it through context. . You can then go BACK to Anki and add a SENTENCE card for "The church will be taking proceeds this Sunday" and in the DEFINITION of the sentence, make a note of "Proceeds -- Donations". . Hope you found this helpful!

If you're just beginning to learn a language, you won't be able to output anyway, so I would not recommend iTalki. 100% of learning is done via input so if you want to speed up your learning & acquisition of a language, there is no output required. Once you have inputted enough that you have enough data in your brain to output, then you can practice outputting. . In other words, output is not learning- output is the RESULT of learning. In order for there to be results, you must have put in the effort first. . Once you're at a stage where you feel comfortable to output, then go ahead and give it a shot. One having to do with furigana and I don't remember what the other one was about but, If you know some basic Japanese and grammar, these mistakes are very easy to see/hear and go around them with Jisho. I spent 3-4 days setting up subs2srs, texthooker, Migaku, Yomichan, looking for decks etc.. Yesterday I checked out your deck, Today I started actually studying with Anki using your modified deck and I just want to say Thank You! It is very good, I am going to go through it all! Keep up your good work bro! Your editing style is very good and appealing. One last thing, I plan on doing 10 reviews of Core2k/6k deck, and 10 reviews of Core2.3k a day. Do you reccomend doing these two decks at the same time? I feel it might take more time but might be a good idea in the long run 🤔
@@winnieloid5178 That's great to hear! Yeah there's bound to be mistakes in the deck because, 1. It's not made by me so idk how correct each card is, 2. the stuff I added was mainly auto generated. . But yea none of the mistakes should be that hard to fix. My girlfriend also uses that deck and occasionally reports some weirdness to me from time to time too. . Good job setting up all those different tools and thanks for the compliment on my editing style! 😁😁 . Tbh if you're just starting with the core deck, just start with one. All the Core decks come from the same place anyway (they come from a site called iKnow), so if you do multiple decks, you'll just end up getting duplicates eventually. . If you wanna speed up the process, just review more cards. But remember not to do TOO much because it doesn't matter if you do 500 cards in a week and then lose all motivation to continue. . I advise everybody to start small and build a habit first. When you get started, you'll feel very motivated and want to do many cards, but once that motivation runs out- you MUST have a habit set so you can continue to use Anki every day. . Remember, Motivation is just the starting point, consistency is key! Don't use motivation to learn Japanese, use motivation to build consistency. 😉

But if I do that, that means I already know 100% of the words in that sentence and I'm just drilling in some grammar or for some reason I want to remember that sentence. . Your story of learning Japanese inspired me a lot. I’ve lost 2 years because of the wrong way of learning language. After watching yours and Cure Dolly’s videos I realized a lot. I’m not a native speaker of English but I try to learn both languages. While my studies I use different books(grammar, dictionary and etc.). In my opinion using such books is necessary and important. I have no idea how to increase my knowledge of Japanese in a more effective way. I love this language and would like to speak it fluently. In fact my wish is to it as native speakers do, so, after watching your videos I decided to follow your methodology. I have a friend who passed n1 in two years without taking classes, while living in America. He had never even heard of ajatt/refold or Anki. He used Nakama 1&2 and Tobira textbooks. His accent was terrible at that time though. He’s gone on to improve his speaking ability since then. Even been on a few Japanese kanji game shows. I believe half of learning comes down to effort, consistency and time on task.
With the amount of effort you took to recreate the test, I wonder why you didn't just take the actual exam.

When starting out, I recommend using thw Core 2K deck. I'd love to link you to mine but, as I said in the video- 20,000 wasted cards so.

Right now I'm helping my girlfriend get started, she's on her second month now and she's been using a modified version of my Core 2K.

I guess what you can do now is just get any random Core 2K and just get started (or maybe do some research on which is best). I'll make a tutorial on how I changed my cards to the way they currently are now sometime next month.

As for Kanji and Grammar, first of all, I'm not sure I have the right to talk about Kanji since I knew basic Kanji from birth (I'm Chinese), but I can't read Chinese. I used RTK to help boost my Kanji learning speed but I don't recommend it because it's too taxing on mental stamina. That being said, that IS the best option and was VERY effective.

For grammar, Cure Dolly Sensei is the best resource. I would NOT use Tae Kim, Cure Dolly's videos explain why. I understand Cure Dolly may be hard to get into, which is why I remade her most important videos myself. I plan to make more in the future as well.

Bro... How did you use Yakuza 0 to learn Japanese? 😅 I absolutely love the Yakuza games and would kill to be able to use them for immersion learning, but I don't know how best to do that... Do you just use Japanese subtitles? Or do you have some kind of translation script somewhere?
@@japanese2811 Assuming you're already familiar with the whole idea of language learning and the immersion approach and sentence mining.
Step 1 is to play the game first, you can even play it in English, doesn't matter. Point is to get you hooked and also so you understand the story.
Step 2 is to either replay it in Japanese, or, even better watch a Japanese streamer replay it in Japanese.
The Yakuza games are very popular and many streamers play it and have clips in Japanese too.
The clips are the best as they often have subtitles for the streamer as well as the game.
All of those provided a perfect opportunity not just for immersion, but for sentence mining too 😎

I've played Yakuza 0 to the very death in English, so I always think it's a great candidate for a learning experience but I get so scared of all the kanji coming my way if I put on Japanese subtitles 🤣 I think the hardest challenge for me has been actually making out what the more heavy accented guys (especially the Kansai-ben guys) are saying. That's why I was wondering if there's maybe a translation somewhere.
But anyway, let me give it a shot! Lately I've found that I can clearly hear when anyone speaks polite Japanese (Han Joongi, my boy 💪), but the casual stuff is rough listening wise...

@@japanese2811 A lot of streamers from Hololive have played the game, the most recent being Okayu who really cared about the charas and cried at the end.
Then there's another from Nijisanji who's such maniac she's played through literally all the games called Nui Sociere.
Instead of just watching a single streamer, I'd recommend watching the compilations first cuz it'll introduce you to many different faces. Search term would be something like "龍が如く 切り抜き 反応集"

This approach is great, wish I'd started using this method. I'm exactly 3 months into my studies, completed Genki 1 and 2, and am just past n4 level for the most part. I'm 3 chapters into Tobira, but am very likely switching to immersion based learning. My only concern is, where do I get grammar knowledge from? My mind is already accustomed to getting it from textbooks, so for this approach it doesn't quite click with me yet. Do I simply add sentence cards to Anki and review them enough times until I notice patterns?

Most of the grammar you've learned from textbooks, especially Genki, are actually "wrong". As in they break apart when under scrutiny and at the end of the day are only explained by "you'll get a feel for it".

But the reality is that Japanese grammar is very simple and very logical, much more so than English. The textbooks simply misteach it to the point where it starts CREATING questions that don't even exist (such as は vs が).
.
Yes, you *can* learn Grammar just via nothing but immersion and "get a feel for it", however- this approach is quite slow and fuzzy indeed.

These videos may seem complex to understand at first, but it will only seem that way if you've been brainwashed by textbook "eihongo" grammar. So I'd recommend throwing everything you know from the textbooks & Tae Kim out the window while watching these videos.

Furthermore, just watching grammar guides and grammar explanations aren't enough. Remember that comprehensible input must be used alongside active study.

Thanks for your compliment, but I certainly don't ace the pitch accent stuff at all, I'm able to pick up multiple mistakes in the interview video as well. I'm not sure if my background has anything to do with it since I don't know the technicalities behind Cantonese/Mandarin pronunciation but I wouldn't be surprised. I'm using my girlfriend as a guinea pig right now and I'm teaching her some pitch accent stuff (she started learning Japanese like 2 months ago), so let's see where she's at in 2 years too.

Furthermore, I don't make it a point to actively pay attention to pitch at all when I'm immersing, matter of fact- I completely zone out and forget I'm even trying to learn Japanese when I'm immersing. That's NOT to say I don't NOTICE the pitch tho, it just happens completely unconsciously.

As an example, I was playing Yakuza 0 the other day and parts of that game are set in Osaka, so they speak Kansai-ben where some of the pitches are flipped. I noticed that one of the girls said お寿司 as おす↓し (like an English speaker) instead of おすし→ like how it is in standard. I wasn't particularly trying to listen for differences, I just noticed that it sounded different than what I expected.

I believe that taking the time to drill pitch till you unconsciously are able to pick it up is worth doing because it really shouldn't take that long if you do it right, and then the skill stays forever and you don't even need to activate it. (Not sure if you play Arknights but it's kinda like Skalter's S2- wait a bit and you have a permanent passive buff!) ☺

2 weeks? I stopped doing it after 3 days. I guess I'll have to elaborate on my process in an actual video. It could be that everybody's speed of picking this up is different, or it could be that you may not be using it very efficiently. Hopefully it's the latter so we can actually do something actionable to speed it up!
Excellent video! Question: for sentence cards/sample sentences on text/audio vocab cards, do you use and/or rely on English translations? I'm trying (at least for vocab cards) to move to *very* simple monolingual definitions with an expandable dropdown button using an English one if I need it. I've been trying to figure out a good sentence card format that doesn't rely to much on translations (to try and "visualize" the sentence), but I haven't figured out anything that conveys meaning to me well without them at my current stage.

If you're asking about how you should approach the monolingual transition, then I think you're doing the right thing.
I personally use Japanese definitions for the most part. Occasionally I'll have some English there if I can't read the JP definition (or I have some really old cards from last year that I haven't studied, and I'm too lazy to update them).
The monolingual transition is not a 1 step thing where one day you'll just use 100% Japanese. What you're doing by easing in Japanese definitions where you can is the right thing.
I would also try to mine 1 layer deep in Japanese definitions (when you feel like it). As in, look at the definition for any words you don't know that show up all the time, and learn them with the Eng definition.
Eventually, you'll just start using the JP definitions more as you get more comfortable. Everybody will take a different amount of time :)

What I've doing with J-J dictionaries is looking up new words/words I already know and seeing if there's recurring dictionary vocab (to help navigate them easier) or other unknown vocab then putting them in a notepad to make future cards with (mostly been using a monoling transition pack for qolibri). It's actually been a pretty practical way to get relevant vocab for me at my early stage!

So I'm kind of confused about cards where you have to recall the definition. What do you do if a word has several different meanings? For example, I'm learning Spanish right now and just 1 word can have many different nuances. How would you go about recalling a definition that is very long?
You don't. Anki's purpose is not to allow you to "acquire" the language (truly understand the ins and outs- all the nuances and stuff). Anki's job is to give you a simple mental note that something exists, allowing you to recall it in immersion- thus developing language acquisition.

So what do I do when a word has multiple definitions?
.
It depends on how different the definitions are.
.
In Japanese, I think all the words share quite a similar meaning even when they mean something different, so it's not THAT much of a problem. So I'll use English for an example of something that's completely different.
.
Proceed (move forward) vs Proceeds (donations).
.
When creating the Anki card for the word Proceed, you will take the most common definition- in this case, "move forward" is much more common than "donations.
.
So the entire time you will know the word "Proceed" as only meaning "move forward"- that will be until you run into a sentence in the wild like "The church will be taking proceeds this Sunday".
.
To which you will go ??, prompting you to either look it up, or see what's going on on Sunday and just understand it through context.
.
You can then go BACK to Anki and add a SENTENCE card for "The church will be taking proceeds this Sunday" and in the DEFINITION of the sentence, make a note of "Proceeds -- Donations".
.

If you're just beginning to learn a language, you won't be able to output anyway, so I would not recommend iTalki. 100% of learning is done via input so if you want to speed up your learning & acquisition of a language, there is no output required. Once you have inputted enough that you have enough data in your brain to output, then you can practice outputting.

In other words, output is not learning- output is the RESULT of learning. In order for there to be results, you must have put in the effort first.
.
Once you're at a stage where you feel comfortable to output, then go ahead and give it a shot. The key is "when you're comfortable!"

One having to do with furigana and I don't remember what the other one was about but, If you know some basic Japanese and grammar, these mistakes are very easy to see/hear and go around them with Jisho.
I spent 3-4 days setting up subs2srs, texthooker, Migaku, Yomichan, looking for decks etc.. Yesterday I checked out your deck, Today I started actually studying with Anki using your modified deck and I just want to say Thank You! It is very good, I am going to go through it all! Keep up your good work bro! Your editing style is very good and appealing.
One last thing, I plan on doing 10 reviews of Core2k/6k deck, and 10 reviews of Core2.3k a day. Do you reccomend doing these two decks at the same time? I feel it might take more time but might be a good idea in the long run 🤔

Tbh if you're just starting with the core deck, just start with one. All the Core decks come from the same place anyway (they come from a site called iKnow), so if you do multiple decks, you'll just end up getting duplicates eventually.

If you wanna speed up the process, just review more cards. But remember not to do TOO much because it doesn't matter if you do 500 cards in a week and then lose all motivation to continue.
.
I advise everybody to start small and build a habit first. When you get started, you'll feel very motivated and want to do many cards, but once that motivation runs out- you MUST have a habit set so you can continue to use Anki every day.
.
Remember, Motivation is just the starting point, consistency is key! Don't use motivation to learn Japanese, use motivation to build consistency. 😉
