It was the summer of 1971. We were dirt poor , hard headed , loud mouthed teenagers with a spirit of adventure. Terry Thompson, Juan (Poncho Grande) Fuentes, Jacky Ray Thompson, Dennis (the yellow duck) Dibble, Sandra Lou Bemis and myself, drove to Joplin Mo. to see our very first Live Concert! This song was one of there first hits and we all left feeling a little"funny" after the smoke filled experience....It was a bond that has lasted 50 years.

Everybody gathering in the pavilion just dancing having a good time. I wonder if it as important for the bands to be enshrined as appose to the fans wanting their favorites inducted. Me thinks it's more for the fans.

The great Michael Hassock on drums. Rest in Peace my friend. A good old North Jersey guy. Last time I saw him was backstage at the Wellmont Theatre. You could not meet a nicer bunch of guys. No big ego trip. Down to earth.

Saw them in the 80s with some Highschool buddies in Ottawa during the Michael McDonald days - No Disrespect - He was amazing - unique- But wish I saw this concert - All the classics with the original heroes - Listened to China Grove and Black Water constantly.

On a trip to Texas today I passed though China Grove - can’t say I saw anything crazy but it seem like more of a crossroads now. Maybe it was a bigger place in the 70’s - still it was neat to be in China Grove and turn on this tune

I started out in bands back in the 60's when all of us played together and could do it live. I must admit, now that we all have the technology in our own personal computers to sound a bit band like on our own if we can play a few instruments I do it like that now. But it's nothing like having 4 or 5 comrades that can play up there doin' it together. This is from those magic days when groups created great music together, each giving it their best. Today's music will never compete with that. I count my blessings that my younger days were from that time. Sadly, we can never go back. These guys just rock like it's supposed to be. There are probably those that would disagree, but you just had to be there to know what I'm talkin' about. Fortunately there are a few groups left from that time that still carry on the tradition, but for how much longer can they do it? We are all getting on up in age. These guys are just amazing for how long they have lasted.

I loved hearing this kind of music on the radio as my mom and step Dad went joy riding in the back of her PT cruser in the back seat of her car. Along with beer cans in the backseat also.
