Oscar® nominee Dev Patel, known for his roles in "Lion" and "Slumdog Millionaire," makes a remarkable directorial debut with the action thriller "Monkey Man." Patel stars as Kid, an anonymous fighter in an underground club, donning a gorilla mask and enduring nightly beatings for cash. Fueled by suppressed rage, Kid, inspired by the legend of Hanuman, embarks on a vengeance quest against corrupt leaders who murdered his mother and exploit the poor. Unleashing his mysteriously scarred hands, Kid infiltrates the city's elite, triggering an explosive campaign of retribution. The film, filled with thrilling fight and chase scenes, is directed by Patel from his original story and screenplay co-written with Paul Angunawela and John Collee. The international cast includes Sharlto Copley, Sobhita Dhulipala, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Ashwini Kalsekar, Adithi Kalkunte, Sikandar Kher, and Makarand Deshpande. "Monkey Man" is produced by Patel, Jomon Thomas, Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld, Ian Cooper, Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Christine Haebler, and Anjay Nagpal, with executive producers including Jonathan Fuhrman, Natalya Pavchinskya, Aaron L. Gilbert, Andria Spring, Alison-Jane Roney, and Steven Thibault. Worshiping hanuman is to channel strength and courage. So he is channelling strength from hanuman obviously the faith is the power but it seems the situation that the hero is in has happened before where other warriors to channelled hanuman and won kind of like history repeating itself and these warriors are avatars of hanuman, I think this us what is going on here. I don’t think there is anything supernatural. Most men in India worship hanuman for strength and it is just the power of belief.

the movie is not based on hanuman it's about his life as childhood and then growing up adult comes difficult for him and later he finds out the truth

It's mythological, but faith makes many believe Indian mythologies & gods are real.
They (the Indians) believe the gods in ramayan & mahabharata (ram & Krishna) lived in a different era.
But hanuman apparently has a boon of being immortal until the world ends. So many believe he is still around.
I remember when I was a kid, there was a pic of an entity that looked like a red monkey-human, in a cave that was popularly shared.
An Arab traveler (I forget who) said that Indians don't know how to separate history from mythology. So yes, there are still many who believe their gods are real.

The movie seems ok but I highly criticise the use of Saffron Triangle flags to represent "bad side" also the villain is shown wearing a Pearl Rudraksh mala which are worn usually by saints, this colour and this shape of flag plays a critical role in our faith and lifestyle and we can't take made narratives around it...
