I just bought one of these for $150 on Mercari. I got a little nervous when I went to download the Canon software and T2i wasn't listed as a supported camera, but I selected T3i on download page and everything has been working great. The picture is amazing and the depth of field for my setup makes it look awesome. Thanks for posting this.
how about the face tracking how did you turn it off cause i also have the same cam but i can't seem to turn off the face tracking square. woulda appreciate the respond :3

Many thanks for the video, I was going to get a Sony A6000 until I stumble to ur video, decided to get Canon T5i for $250 and installed the Magic Lantern firmware to get a clean HDMI output
Bought the cannon t2i, i’ll be buying the t3i so i can have a seperate film and webcam, love your vid man :)

I have this camera and it works great. It works with eos webcam utility and that is an amazing feature. I have one problem and it doesn't work with a camlink. I mean it does but it doesn't show a clean hdmi output. That was a waste of 15-20 bucks for me but then eos webcam utility came out and I use that now.

I bought the cannon t2i for filming and webcam, plan to buy the t3i for filming and leave my t2i for my webcam.
The only thing I dont love about my t3i is the cropped sensor. I do my stuff via streamyard and I have the black bars on the sides of my feed. Other than that I love it

this is friggin awesome! I have been looking for a dslr for months. The problem as you said that most dslr dont have autofocus, some have mechanicel autofocus but you can hear how the lens is rotating all the time. There are also dslm which can autofocus internally (you showed some cams in this video) I wanted to get the Sony ZV-1 but the quality is not that great compared to t3i, especially that bouquet effect, and you can't change the lens.
So... I will probably get a T2i or T3i. I don't really care about autofocus, I just need it as a normal webcam. A very good webcam.
unfortunately I could not find any T2i or T3i here in Germany... but what I found out, the same camera is also sold under another name: Canon EOS 600D. :)
The ZV-1 absolutely crushes the T3i in quality, especially if you run it in 4K, I dont know what you are talking about... The ZV-1 is comparable to a A6100.
I rock the t5i. Great camera with silent auto focus. T3i supports the cannon web utility software which works really well.

@@BravityM honestly not much better than the t3i but the silent autofocus is great for going freestyle. Great video though man. Informative and to the point. Keep up the good work
I have the 700d as well which I think is the t5i, does yours keep switching off, before the 30min mark its switches off
@@googlyzer547 yes it's sadly a tax thing. If the camera recorded for more than 30 minutes it would have to be classified as a camcorder which puts it in a different tax bracket and makes it more expensive. You can custom firmware which I don't recommend. Or get an external recording source

yes the cam link should record in 1080p 60fps and if you want 4k 30fps.

Helpful video! Am seeking a camera or (webcam) for teleconferencing with colleages via; Skype, Discord and Zoom. About 3-5 times per week. There will be no streaming, promotion need or focus on cosmetics, but it should be professional. In addition the camera will be used primarily to take pix of, paper documents, proposals, labels and business documents - instead of scanning.
My system is linux, debian based with; i7 chip, 32gb ram, 2 SSD's, 750w and an older GB mobo (usb 3.1). No additional graphic card in the machine. The T3i which you recomend seems appropriate, as does the Sony a5000 (among others). Compatabilty with Linux may be an issue or not. Some linux folks recommend using gphoto2 software to establish linux connectivity. Based on the needs noted, what would you recommend? Thank-you.

I have a T2i that Canon doesn’t appear to support on their download section for web streaming app. Are there any options you know of that one of the other downloads would work for this? I did try the T3i one but that doesn’t appear to work. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hey man just had a question, I have a Rebel T2i and when I click your link it brings me to the canon page but on the list of cameras the T2i is unavailable. The earliest I saw was the T3i. I was wondering if the the T2i is still compatible or would I need to purchase a different camera? Also, if it is compatible which software would I download? Should I just click as if I had a t3i and download that software and maybe that would work? Lmk what you think! Thanks in advance

Canon T3i has low fps. Judging by the picture somewhere 10-15 frames per second.
Can better use a capture card?

The DSLR looks good, but is it just me or is it running half the fps of the Logitech brio
Correct it is running at half the FPS, T3i is running at 30, though the benefit of having an actual camera as your webcam is variable frame rates. If you want 60 FPS you can set it at 60 FPS :)
T3i doesnt do 60 fos tho

I'm really starting to bang my head against a wall because it's beginning to feel like everyone can get these cameras to work
I have a Canon EOS Rebel T5 (not T5i), and while it records perfect videos in 1080p 30fps or 720p 60fps, getting it to work as a webcam has become impossible, there is no way to get a fully clean hdmi out (I've gotten very close, but it still letterboxes the sides rather than giving a clean 1080p 16x9 output), and the webcam utility is just... awful, it "works", but the quality is severely downgraded from recording off of it in resolution, clarity, frame rate, and even responsiveness (sometimes lagging by about half a second)
Anybody have any ideas because I'm seriously at a loss at this point

I like the c 920 better. it was much smoother, i'd just adjust the exposure

well if you want a decent quality webcam.. the cheapest true 1080 is still $150-160 out there.. and those wont even give you the blurry background ;)

True, but luckily most streamers are still streaming in 30fps, BUT if you do stream in 60fps the 720p out of this camera will still look better than the 1080p out of any webcam on the market, still a great buy for streaming today! :)
