I absolutely love my Maxspeedingrods headunit. The reason I use it is mainly because of the 8 channel output, the DSP functions, and, believe it or not, 4 volt RCA outputs. Yeah, it doesn't have the infinite versatility of a stand-alone DSP, but the fact of it being in the dash gives you hands-on accessibility. But I agree that the amplifier section isn't thrilling at all.

I just put 2 little Taramp's TL 500 super mini amps tied into the speaker level outs behind my head unit and it doubled the output power of my android head unit, They cost $29 each and I'm running both of them and my head unit on the cars 15 amp radio fuse with no problems. Super easy install also

Where this headunit shines is when you have a “real” stereo system with external amplifiers. I am running a 2 way active front stage WITH rear fill and subs. Most of the more expensive android headunits dont allow you to do this. Im thinking about upgrading to a Idoing but would need a DSP as well

    • @iceman45ification1
      @iceman45ification1 Месяц назад +1

@robertocredle5256 that's the same way I'm using it. I'm using a 2-way active front-end with a subwoofer using all Dayton Audio mids, tweets, and sub. I'm using old school PPI amps from the 90s, and the setup sounds amazing. 👌

@@iceman45ification1 im running Stereo Integrity’s latest gen 6.5 mids and tweets up front, sundown neo pro mids for rear fill 2 SI SQL subs ported with a siq 125.4 on front stage salt200.2 on rear fill and salt 3 on subs. Eventually I want to replace all the sundown stuff with stereo integrity’s equivalent

It's a cool little radio with a clunky user interface. My son would watch RUclips on it while we drove around town. For the price, it's good but these things break after a few months. Mine took a sh*t so I got a replacement but I never installed it because I didn't trust that I wouldn't end up in the same place. Bought a Mekede M6 instead but it was stuck in customs for two months. By the time it came I had already bought a Joying so now I've got $1200 worth of head units for one car😅

i came across your channel by accident, im now a subscriber :-) i want a head unit for my car, but what puts me off is that i have watched so many reviews of them that im concerned about losing car functionality. example... i have a peugoet 2008 2016 model. it has in car roof night mood lights that are controlled via the inbuilt (crappy) head unit and tyre pressure sensor that is reset via the head unit also when changing pressure.
My issue is more so with the inbuilt tyre pressure sensor resetting. I know you can get tyre pressure kits from a lot of the android head unit manufacturers that are controllable, but they have no bearing on the built in car sensor that would need to be reset. in changing the head unit, i would be stuck without a way to reset that sensor.
I think a lot of the reviews excluded important info like that, instead focusing on features of that unit which i think (personally) is wrong because it gives someone like me the wrong impression that things will just work. It was only by accident a few week back when doing research that i came across a few others having the same issues that i am now wary of.
Is there any advice you can give? because honestly, your reviews are bloody brilliant!!

After briefly owning a few quad-core Android head units I will never even consider one again, they are just too slow and clunky. I'd also never buy a radio without A.M. Lastly, I'd say that the bare minimum amount of RAM should start at 3GB. On the positive side having a physical volume control is a huge plus, I'd say mandatory unless you can use your steering wheel controls but even then a volume control on the head unit is so nice to have.

Enjoyed the review, along with the numerous others you have posted. Have you found any Android stereo that displays text messages from the phone (outside of using AA/Carplay). Like getting text notifications on screen while listening to FM radio. It's surprising that this feature seems to be exclusive to automaker systems only, and I can't figure out why that is the case.

What do you think about the Dudu7 head units, based on specs it looks impressive but then I'm new to Android head units so not sure if it's the right choice.
Do you plan on reviewing them anytime soon?

Yeah I have a Dudu7 coming from Mekede with some crazy specs. I think it will not only be the most powerful Android head unit in existence, but also I'm excited to try out this software because it might well be the best Android head unit software available

Why are there no Chinese tuners that have DAB, or at least none I've come across? Thanks for another interesting and informative video.

There's an Atoto one that is about to be released that I'll be testing. But the main reason is that DAB is not a standard tech across the world, it's mainly used in Europe and Australia so its not a thing in China, Russia or the USA which are historically the biggest markets

Hi could you please help, I have a Porsche Boxster 981 fitted with a basic head unit CD-R 31 I would like to upgrade it to one with sat Nav & DAB radio built in, I have been to Halfords looked at various head sets JVC Alpine Pioneer Kenwood but unsure what is best
We do a lot of driving in Europe France mainly & have been using a Garmin but would prefer a built in system
I am unsure if it these after market head sets use your phone data that would be costly
I have looked at the Erisin units that a lot of 981 owners have fitted but unsure whether to go down that route
Could you recommend a head unit that has DAB & Sat Nav built in at a reasonable price probably what Halfords stock as I will ask them to fit it

I have trouble finding a decent single din, 7" screen android unit for my TVR.
Two possibles are the Erisin ES8588U and the Mekede MKD4 (6 or 8gb) automatic flip screens, but I can't find any reviews.
Any chance you could test either of these?

Ive had this headunit for over a year, it has its glitches (occasionally volume goes up by itself, bluetooth/carplay connection issues) but wouldn’t put it in the same category as Maxspeeding Rods car parts
