I purchased the EKIY K5, 8G 128G head unit for my Subaru Crossterk XV 2014, it's actually the entire front bazel of the vents/radio/climate control. I'm a 50 year old female that decided to upgrade the head unit by myself, not really knowing much. Today I installed it and iit seems to be working so I think I did the install correct. The hardest part was talking the car apart to take out the old radio. I do have a couple of plugs from the old radio that didn't get used but I don't see anything missing in the new radio so I'm thinking everything is connected thru the harnesses that came with the EKIY head unit, steering wheel control is working, voice control, reverse camera, on board Diagnostic, GPS, 4G antenna, two USB connect. I have to figure out how to connect the original USB in the armrest, maybe I don't need a total of 3 USB and I can skip that one. It had the 360cameras but I didn't order that because I'm too old school😂. So far I haven't found anything that is a problem with it, I'm very happy with the unit and it looks nice, it looks like it came with the car and not an after market radio. Some things in the settings I don't know what they are and what they mean but with time I'll google them and learn. I paid about $270.
That's great to hear, thinking of getting one for my 2015 Honda. Did you come across any issues with the instruction manual? (sometimes Chinese products have very bad English instructions) that's what I'm worried about.
Hi, I've just purchased the T7 8/256 model after watching your very useful review and I must say I am impressed. I did ask the supplier if they had a detailed list of all the menu options with description as some seem meaningless to me as a beginner, but they say they don't have one and to just ask, but that is a lot of questions. Have you thought about doing an in depth explanation of what all the menu options do, you could break it down into sections, like Factory / User / ETC ? E.g. you changed the 4 apps in the bottom box, but how did you do that ? I had no issues installing it, but I'm pulling my hair out trying to work out how to drive it, or customise it and there seems no RUclips videos about that aspect, but plenty of people asking how ! ! !
I picked up one of these head units for my honda jazz and I love it! I'm still installing the 360 cameras but it's a great improvement and really modernises what was otherwise a regular old car. The subwoofer really helps with the audio too, I think the controls for the subwoofer (and audio) are well thoughtout too, I did have lower expectations for it when I ordered the unit.

Thanks for a great review. The biggest question I have is how does the sound quality of the EKIY, Mekede and Teyes CC3 compare? Are they pretty much the same or there significant differences. They all have canbus integration and use Android so UI is similar. Teyes has definitely enhanced their UI and is more fancy than others but they all seem to have decent UI. Again thanks for the reviews, they are detailed and very informative.
How do you think this system stacks up against the Teyes CC3 2K? I like the tire monitoring system on this that you don't actually have to install anything in your tires which is a huge plus in my book.
See my comment on tpms... long story short, I'd rather have the "proper" TPMS, or none at all, than have those hanging off the end of my valvestems. Think about it - to measure pressure, those little caps HAVE to depress and open the valves to sense pressure. So now your tires remaining inflated depend upon the seal between the cap and your valvestem, not the shrader valve itself. Better not have one iota of dirt or contamination on there...
EKIY offers the internal ones as well for a little more. You might need a tire shop to install the internal TPMS but you don't have to worry about it unscrewing or some kid walking by and stealing one off your wheel.
the dsp is 16 band but 2 channel. if you press set up, you can activate another set of 16 bands of eq. basically you have 1 set of front speakers with 16 band eq. rear speakers another 16 band eq. what I did was front speakers will handle the mids and high but mute the lows. rear speakers will handle the lows to mids but mute the highs. reducing the stress and load of the speakers. of course its nowhere near an actual multi channel dsp where you can configure individual speaker with their respective EQ. this bridges closer. another higher end models offers I think 21 or 27 band of eq configuration with similar 2 channel setup. much more fine tuning capabilities.

I really miss hard buttons. That way, I don't need to take my eyes off the road. Are there any touch screens that include basic hard buttons? I need buttons to move up and down my radio presets. And I NEED a volume knob. I don't believe a solely touch screen interface is practical for a driver. But it's necessary to access all the amazing features.
I have found the Bluetooth on the T7 very poor. I can connect my iPhone, but it won't connect to my OBD Eleven VAG dongle, or my NextBase 522 DashCam ! They did respond to all my questions but were not able to offer a solution. I have found an OBD2 dongle that does work so I can use Torque. Note they originally told me it had BT v5, but AIDA64 revealed it is only BT v4+ ??? My old cheap CAMECHO head unit had better BT ! But other than that everything else seems OK and it is much faster than my old CAMECHO unit.
I’m trying to decide between this T7 and an Atoto a6pf for my 2012 Honda Fit LXL. One of the appeals of the T7 is that it already comes with plastic cutout that fits my car. On the other hand the Atoto is a more established brand. Finally, I think the main use of the stereo is going to be with Android Auto and CarPlay, so maybe the powerful hardware on the T7 is somewhat wasted. Any thoughts?
I have taken the journey with you regarding Android Head Units. I am fond of this one. I have a 2018 Nissan KICKS SV that has the factory 360 cameras, i plan on upgrading my deck to this unit. Since your release of this video, how is this unit treating you and was there any updates since?
Looking extra dapper for the vid! so radio is like 180 for 4gb 220 for 8gb, then 50 for the cameras which need to be ordered at the same time as the radio because the radio needs an extra chip in it, steering wheel buttons 19, 20 or 26 for screw on/internal tpms.... then theres the optional 4ch+sub (4x35w?) dsp box for another 28 and dab for 24 so the full on everything but the sink package is like 367, which i admit is cheaper than a teyes 360 setup (full everything kit radio 337, cameras 100, tpms 50, parking sensors 112, dab 32 so 631...) but I was still hoping it would work out cheaper than that...... maybe if i put on the marigolds, detail the bathroom, detail the kitchen, and the front room, redecorate the lounge and have a shave i can maybe beg for one....
@@vth55_ I *think* you can add the 360 to a 128gb radio only, but from the wording of the website you have to tell them so they put the 360 magic chip in it. I'd play safe and buy it together.
@@BilalBaghdadi that's what others have done, I'm still trying to sell my body to raise the cash. Just remember you *must* get the 360 can version of the head unit or it won't have the right parts inside, you must tell them you want the 360 cam head unit, if you get a non 360 and then buy the cams they will not work as it won't have a 360 decoding chip inside....(that how it was explained to me)

How are these fixed to the dash? Normally there are screws outside the perimeter of the screen, but these screens prevent access for such a screw+driver...
I would like to know about the frame when purchasing an EKIY for a specific car. Will I also receive a universal option? Specifically, does it come with a frame? Can I remove it and use the EKIY as a universal unit?
Really appreciate how thorough your reviews are. Do you know whether it's possible to use apple carplay wired only? And whether it will tether data from the phone? And for the DVR cameras; do you need to buy the 360 kit and the DVR kit and put them together, or could you just buy the DVR kit with the front and rear and then buy a couple side view camera and attach them? It didn't look like the DVR kit came with the right dongle for 360 camera. Thank you!

I’m planning to just wire my speakers directly to the head unit, but just saw the mini amps they sell on aliexpress that has a harness that connects directly to the android head unit. Any recommendations on those Chinese-made amps? Or is the head unit built-in amp adequate?
I bought a SEAT Alhambra 2007 and after watching your review, I want to install an Ekiy headunit on it. With all the peripherals it would bem a heck of an upgrade. But Ekiy says tney don't have a suitable modelo for my car, and O can't understand why. Don't they have a 2din universal modelo. Can you help me understand?

I've just purchased this one from their store but they don't sell the tyre pressure monitoring system anymore because they said the factory that made the TPMS changed the software and so it didn't work to well with ekiy t7 anymore. Would you know a work around for this?
Atoto S8 Ultra. Also comes with 360 viewing when backing up. I just started watching this video, so I don't know which one is better... yet. The reviews for the Atoto S8 Ultra are really good though so if this unit doesn't match up to that one, I'm going with the Atoto.

I have the t900... I had to get a hidden settings app to access the Bluetooth2 settings to try and add my OBD adapter... My problem is, all the devices in the bluetooth device list say "no name" so I have no idea which one to choose to pair my OBD adapter... have you had this problem?
Hello. I would like to buy a t900 for my VW Golf6. I have a few questions, maybe you can help me find answers. 1. Does the radio "remember" what it was running before turning off the car? For example, I have navigation to a given place enabled. I stop at the station to refuel, come back and have to choose the address again. Similarly with music, when I turn off the car, the music from Sportify/YT stops playing and I have to select the song again. This is how I have it in my current Isudar T72X, everything was better in the previous Isudar T72X. 2. Does the radio allow you to turn on Google Assistant? I know that the producer has his assistant, but he does not support my language. In Isudar I can select Google Assistant, but after each radio reset I have to select it again. Thank you :)
Hello again, I'm asking about parking sensors, EKIY sold someones they are compatible with their T7 head unit, they show the colored lines in the left side of the display, it's cool but they look like the cheap $5 ones, I want model like OEM WITH SMALL CIRCLE. I contacted the store and they said that they don't sold this model. Do you have an idea where can I find that model with OEM form and can shows indicators in the display? Thnx
There is no comparison. the Teyes has been the top pick of all available brands for a couple of years now, until the Mekede Dudu7 came along and knocked it off the top spot. The EKIY is great as a budget unit, but it doesn't compare to a premium brand

Anyone know how this type of chassis goes in the dash? I have seen a few other android stereos with a flat screen and a very shallow chassis, hardly anything that can extend into the vehicle and be fastened somehow. They look to include trapezoidal trim rings that fit around the back chassis, but again no idea how they attach to the dash.
Can this be installed in a 2 din bay so that the screen is floating like in your saab? I have an alfa romeo GT which is kind of hard to get a good android head unit like this for.
You must have been very lucky to receive all the accessories as I would assume you don't bother buying new 360 cameras with every head unit. As I was replacing an AC8257 unit I didn't bother ordering 360 cameras or dab radio from them as I already had them so they sent a unit without the 360 internal chip or software. It seems they make the units with and without default compatibility with the optional extras.
Android head unit geek guy. Just what I was looking for. Just bought a new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek and it has a head unit in the dash. No 360 camera system. I would really like to upgrade the car to this. Where to start with hardware that will integrate nicely with the existing head unit?
Thank you for this in depth eview, which has convinced me to buy the EKIY 6GB version. One, probably pretty stupid question relates to the output to the speakers. You showed that there is only left, right and subwoofer out, but you seem to be able to manage front and rear output to your speakers. How does that work?
The RCA outputs only to front and subwoofer, but these are only used for an aftermarket amp. If you're using your car's factory speakers, you won't be using the RCAs at all and will get the rear channels too

I have a problem. I purchased the T7 for my 2010 Toyota Venza.....But when I turn the engine on the unit powers off. When I turn the car on (not the engine) the unit is working. But when I turn the engine on the unit powers off.... I tried unplugging everything but the power cable (no peripherals, RCA, 4G, GPS, camera etc) for testing and still it powers off.

I have. 2008 Saab 9-3 convertible, watched lots of your reviews. Looking for head unit with backup camera and CarPlay. Which looks best in Saab and is the best install for this vehicle out of the box?
(This is for people who are curious about the unit i will probably update if i find any issues with it) I just got mine and have been using it for maybe 10 days. I drove about 300 miles with it. The unit works well. My old radio was broken, so i can't say if audio quality improved or dropped, but it sounds good. Gps works very well. I haven't installed the backup camera yet, so i can't say how that is. The microphone is horrible, but the head unit uses a standard 3.5mm jack, so any small microphone will work. Im currently using a $10 mic from amazon android Auto. can be annoying to get setup as it won't always connect. But it does work well. i dont have a sim card in it, so i can't say how well the 4g is

What size screen is that one? I don't see an adaptor to suit the 9-3. I've just bought the 7" version as the mounting adaptor I have is that size, purchased it a few years back from Xtrons when they were UK based. It's looking a bit used so if you know of a source of a new one it will be very appreciated. It's to suit a 2007 9-3 Aero Convertible.

Do android radios use same harness or do they change. They are sending me one but some say harness may be defective cause battery drainage. Could I just buy a Metra harness and will it work with this unit.
Head units of this shape generally use the same harness. It is different to head units that have a single or double din form factor which you can't interchange

not the youtuber, but unfortunately there's no self parking in any head units to date. the 360 degree parking system allows you to see what's around your car in 360 degrees, but it still requires you to do the actual parking. hope that helps

Depending on the supplier, they provide the canbus for the unit that requires it.

Do you know if the pre outs are set up for front or rear as only 2 not the usual 4

I really miss hard buttons. That way, I don't need to take my eyes off the road. Are there any touch screens that include basic hard buttons? I need buttons to move up and down my radio presets. And I NEED a volume knob. I don't believe a solely touch screen interface is practical for a driver. But it's necessary to access all the amazing features.

It has 4 channels with the built in amplifier. You just don't get the rear RCAs

I have found the Bluetooth on the T7 very poor. I can connect my iPhone, but it won't connect to my OBD Eleven VAG dongle, or my NextBase 522 DashCam ! They did respond to all my questions but were not able to offer a solution. I have found an OBD2 dongle that does work so I can use Torque. Note they originally told me it had BT v5, but AIDA64 revealed it is only BT v4+ ??? My old cheap CAMECHO head unit had better BT ! But other than that everything else seems OK and it is much faster than my old CAMECHO unit.

I’m trying to decide between this T7 and an Atoto a6pf for my 2012 Honda Fit LXL. One of the appeals of the T7 is that it already comes with plastic cutout that fits my car. On the other hand the Atoto is a more established brand. Finally, I think the main use of the stereo is going to be with Android Auto and CarPlay, so maybe the powerful hardware on the T7 is somewhat wasted. Any thoughts?

so radio is like 180 for 4gb 220 for 8gb, then 50 for the cameras which need to be ordered at the same time as the radio because the radio needs an extra chip in it, steering wheel buttons 19, 20 or 26 for screw on/internal tpms.... then theres the optional 4ch+sub (4x35w?) dsp box for another 28 and dab for 24
so the full on everything but the sink package is like 367, which i admit is cheaper than a teyes 360 setup (full everything kit radio 337, cameras 100, tpms 50, parking sensors 112, dab 32 so 631...)
but I was still hoping it would work out cheaper than that...... maybe if i put on the marigolds, detail the bathroom, detail the kitchen, and the front room, redecorate the lounge and have a shave i can maybe beg for one....

@@vth55_ I *think* you can add the 360 to a 128gb radio only, but from the wording of the website you have to tell them so they put the 360 magic chip in it. I'd play safe and buy it together.

@@BilalBaghdadi that's what others have done, I'm still trying to sell my body to raise the cash. Just remember you *must* get the 360 can version of the head unit or it won't have the right parts inside, you must tell them you want the 360 cam head unit, if you get a non 360 and then buy the cams they will not work as it won't have a 360 decoding chip inside....(that how it was explained to me)
Glad i found this video for EKIY . I just ordered two unit to upgrade both vehicles and a dash cam for the wife’s car. Looking forward to installing them and giving the cars a breath of fresh air!

How are these fixed to the dash? Normally there are screws outside the perimeter of the screen, but these screens prevent access for such a screw+driver...

I’m planning to just wire my speakers directly to the head unit, but just saw the mini amps they sell on aliexpress that has a harness that connects directly to the android head unit. I bought a SEAT Alhambra 2007 and after watching your review, I want to install an Ekiy headunit on it. With all the peripherals it would bem a heck of an upgrade. But Ekiy says tney don't have a suitable modelo for my car, and O can't understand why. Don't they have a 2din universal modelo. Can you help me understand?

I've just purchased this one from their store but they don't sell the tyre pressure monitoring system anymore because they said the factory that made the TPMS changed the software and so it didn't work to well with ekiy t7 anymore. Would you know a work around for this?

Atoto S8 Ultra. Also comes with 360 viewing when backing up. I just started watching this video, so I don't know which one is better... yet. The reviews for the Atoto S8 Ultra are really good though so if this unit doesn't match up to that one, I'm going with the Atoto.

I would like to buy a t900 for my VW Golf6.
I have a few questions, maybe you can help me find answers.
1. Does the radio "remember" what it was running before turning off the car? For example, I have navigation to a given place enabled. I stop at the station to refuel, come back and have to choose the address again. Similarly with music, when I turn off the car, the music from Sportify/YT stops playing and I have to select the song again. This is how I have it in my current Isudar T72X, everything was better in the previous Isudar T72X.
2. Does the radio allow you to turn on Google Assistant? I know that the producer has his assistant, but he does not support my language. In Isudar I can select Google Assistant, but after each radio reset I have to select it again.

I contacted the store and they said that they don't sold this model.

There is no comparison. the Teyes has been the top pick of all available brands for a couple of years now, until the Mekede Dudu7 came along and knocked it off the top spot. The EKIY is great as a budget unit, but it doesn't compare to a premium brand

Anyone know how this type of chassis goes in the dash? I have seen a few other android stereos with a flat screen and a very shallow chassis, hardly anything that can extend into the vehicle and be fastened somehow. They look to include trapezoidal trim rings that fit around the back chassis, but again no idea how they attach to the dash.

You must have been very lucky to receive all the accessories as I would assume you don't bother buying new 360 cameras with every head unit. As I was replacing an AC8257 unit I didn't bother ordering 360 cameras or dab radio from them as I already had them so they sent a unit without the 360 internal chip or software. It seems they make the units with and without default compatibility with the optional extras.

You showed that there is only left, right and subwoofer out, but you seem to be able to manage front and rear output to your speakers. How does that work?
The RCA outputs only to front and subwoofer, but these are only used for an aftermarket amp. If you're using your car's factory speakers, you won't be using the RCAs at all and will get the rear channels too

There are many head units out there with higher Android versions. Does it make a lot of difference with head units.
Ie. Would I be much better off waiting for a unit with Android 13 or higher?
I have a problem. I purchased the T7 for my 2010 Toyota Venza.....But when I turn the engine on the unit powers off. When I turn the car on (not the engine) the unit is working. But when I turn the engine on the unit powers off.... I tried unplugging everything but the power cable (no peripherals, RCA, 4G, GPS, camera etc) for testing and still it powers off.

I have. 2008 Saab 9-3 convertible, watched lots of your reviews. Looking for head unit with backup camera and CarPlay. Which looks best in Saab and is the best install for this vehicle out of the box?
(This is for people who are curious about the unit i will probably update if i find any issues with it) I just got mine and have been using it for maybe 10 days. I drove about 300 miles with it. The unit works well. My old radio was broken, so i can't say if audio quality improved or dropped, but it sounds good. Gps works very well.
I haven't installed the backup camera yet, so i can't say how that is. The microphone is horrible, but the head unit uses a standard 3.5mm jack, so any small microphone will work. Im currently using a $10 mic from amazon android Auto. can be annoying to get setup as it won't always connect. But it does work well. i dont have a sim card in it, so i can't say how well the 4g is

Head units of this shape generally use the same harness. It is different to head units that have a single or double din form factor which you can't interchange

not the youtuber, but unfortunately there's no self parking in any head units to date. the 360 degree parking system allows you to see what's around your car in 360 degrees, but it still requires you to do the actual parking. hope that helps
