Lucky you! My 2 brothers (23y/o and 15y/o) have ADHD and I'm (21y/o girl) still trying to get diagnosed, but I'm certain I have it. I'm also certain my Dad (63y/o) has it, but he's completely unaware and keeps blaming my Mum's genes. He's incredibly hard to talk to about these types of things, doesn't have good knowledge about it, and isn't open minded in the slightest way, which makes it even harder to cope. It really surprises me how he can be so unaware of his OWN self and how he hasn't realised, all these years, that he is slightly different to other people. Did he never notice the barriers/struggles at school? At work? At home? I don't know how he hasn't picked up on it. And worst of all, he has ZERO empathy for us when we just CAN'T help but being the way we are. Forgetful, distracted, etc. Honestly, consider yourself extremely lucky!!

The day I mentioned maybe it's related to the chance I might have ADHD, she wouldn't accept it as a possibility and said "you had no symptoms when you were younger, there's no way you have it now" (I was about 24 years old 9 years ago). Sad that just a little bit of support how much we can accomplish yet even when our families and friends know how much it benefits our everyday lives they will only bring up the failures and never build you up. As someone who is ADHD this is the most accurate video I ever seen. It took me 4 time to re watch this video again, cause I can't force myself to focus it after all, while I just kept the video playing then I go walk around maybe look outside the window, maybe close the video, and go do something else. Or maybe I thinking about something else in mind, and then I forgot which part of the video I watching right now. And then restart the video to watch it again.

Upon seeing this video, I went up to my mom and expressed to her that I think I have ADHD. She literally looked at me and said, I quote, “You are just realizing this now?”. Thanks mom.

I know right, Im scared to tell my mom I have adhd bc I never knew about this, I thought it was normal or me being careless and stupid. Her answer is most likely, “No you dint have Adhd, Your just out of you’re mind.” Like.

@@clatyra2473 i was talking to my friend about how i had all these issues in class and she told me i might have adhd/add. i brought it up with my parents and at first all they said was “no you don’t, your just lazy” eventually after a lot of convincing, and mainly talking to my mom, i got an appointment with my doctor and i was diagnosed. the best thing you can do is just try, it’s not easy but it’s worth a shot.

My family doesn't really seem to know much about ADHD, despite the fact that it's obvious both my mom and grandma have it. Neither of them have been diagnosed, and neither have I, and it's horrible. I hate feeling like I'm making excuses. But at least I understand myself and them a little better, now that I've learned about it!

Ah, guys I really feel for all of you. I didn’t get diagnosed until I was 27. Had some painful conversations with my family after that. Maybe if you guys are at school and have a teacher you trust at school you could tell them and ask if you can see someone at school about it? Then maybe the school could go to your parents about it - they might take it seriously if it came from someone ‘official’.

    it is really like this
I have a very strong case of adhd and the day i started taking medicine is the day i went from knowing pre-school knowledge to 2nd grade knowledge in half a year. I am lucky to be very smart (according to tests i have done)
For me ive taken the medication for many years but recently stopped due to me not believeing it is benefitial to me anymore. Today its 8 months ago i stopped and im doing just fine in school.
I have always known when i was on my medication and when im not on it (sometimes in weekends always on holidays) i feel a lot more free in a weird way. And yes i know that stopping the medication and then continuing it is dangerous but at the time, i didnt care.
Its few people with adhd that can stop taking the meds and that it actually works.
I still have many many focus problems and they always occur within 5-15 minutes during a lesson or someone is talking to me. Now luckily for me, (not for all) i can always fully focus when it comes to things i enjoy and love. And my amazing teachers (i go in special class btw) have combined the lanugage im supposed to learn with something that intrests me so it becomes a lot easier to focus.
little rambling but yeah just know that this video is so true but the older u get the easier it gets to cope with these issues.

I’m sorry I laughed hard at this. Its so true though. You get so annoyed too and you try and focus even harder which doesn’t help because now you’re thinking about focusing. Next thing you know 5 minutes have passed with the person talking and you’re still stuck on “can you do that can you do that can you do that can you do that” as well as “c’mon brain focus c’mon brain focus c’mon brain focus”

I love this type of videos, i was diagnosed about two monts ago with ADHD, and my god having ADHD is truly a struggle. My mom often makes me feel bad about it, and I know its hard from their point of view but I also wished they could understand our situation. ADHD feels like getting called out for everything and I dont even know how to put it on words but it´s a nighmare!, lately ive noticed that my self steem is low and mainly because of that I just feel like everyone has to say a bad thing about me when Im really trying my best. Also neurotypicals minimizing ADHD saying that everyone has it or a least a bit of it. When that is not the reality, I wish I had their privileges and didnt had SUCH bad time management , didnt procastinate even the most simple task, could focus more easily, hold a normal conversation with someone and make eye contact at the same time, or didnt multitask that at the end of the day means that i didnt do any of them, didnt, being so forgetful and finding myself interrumpting people. In the other hand, i dont think ADHD is necessarily a bad thing, i belive its more of a neutral kind,, but in a neurotypical world we often feel like shit.
