Just ordered this board in 160W today! So Fkin excited for it to come in! Passed on it last year because of the white design, this new darker design is my style.
Hey Nico, Hey, Wondering if I could get your advice please? I currently have an old 157 Freeride Inca board, which I've out grown , experience - wise and also now it boots me out on my carves. I'm 5'11", with boots size ranging from 11.5 - 12 ( depending on the brand) .... currently I have a pair of Burtons 11.5 size - measuring 32.3cm from heel to toe. So, am wondering which size with the Mega Merc should i get - 156W or 158W? Tks heaps 😊
Hey Jaimelara, both sizes would work for your stats, if you want to take it into powder more than on the slopes, I'd go for the 158w, if you like to take it into the park as well, 156w would be the better choice imo :)
@@jaimelara7609 yes they do, ready to ride out of the wrapper! We recommend waxing it after your first 2-3 days, as the factory wax tends to wear off faster.
Hey how did you like the ultras on the mega merc? Been thinking about getting some medium ultras for my 158w since I know my large stratas over hang. I know the atlas is recommended but I want a little more play in my bindings. Would you recommend a different binding than the ultra?
Hey, the Ultra might be a little too freestyle-oriented for the initial use of the Mega Merc - but it highly depends on what you use it for. If you like to tweak it out or just like a surfier feel, the Ultra fits perfectly. If the Atlas is just a tad too stiff for you, you could also have a look at the Force, since that is a little more mellow than the Atlas, but also stiffer than the Ultras. It ultimately comes down to what you want to do with it :)
I am not sure which snowboard to pick out of these three: Capita Mega Merc Capita BSOD K2 Alchemist I am an expert rider with the following riding styles: - bomb down groomer going at high speeds (very rarely paired with a little indie grab or so) - carve deep in mid to big turns at high speeds - when conditions allow go off piste in powder, or off piste besides groomer inbetween treues/through wood (very rarely doing little tricks, 180’s and switches); but finally it must be considered that these perfect pow days become more and more rare -> then it’s left to bombing groomers - After half day riding groomers and piste usually get messy and bumpy so the Board should handle crud and chunder like a charm. Do you have any final advise? THX, Andi
Hey Andi, your explanation calls for the Alchemist or the BSOD - which would be the final call depends on your personal preferences, the Alchemist will handle a bit stiffer, so from your description, we are nudging in that direction.
You pretty much nailed it - the wide version has more surface area, so will float better, but the regular version is more nimble on the edges. So it 100% depends on your preferences and your shoe size as well - if you don't need the wide version, you'll probably be happy with the regular version :) If you have 44+ shoes, it makes sense to look at the wide!
it was actually the bindings that were a size too big, but size medium wasnt available for testing :-D board width is perfect for the reviewers shoe size - US 9.5 for a 25,5cm waist width

It's a beast, we're sure you'll enjoy it! :) have a great season!

Tks for your advice Nico.
Does a brand new Capita Mega Mercury come waxed & tuned from the mothership?
😊

Yo, I see your comment on every Mega Merc video. :-D What board did you end up with and are you happy?
What are the pros and cons of the 160W vs the 161? Both are in my weight range (103kg). Float vs snappier turns?

@@bluetomato thanks. I'm UK size 10.5 so the wide sounds better.
I’m not happy that all these board have ‘super/mega’ versions these days.
Why? What's the problem?
you can still just get the regular ones ;) the super/mega versions are for those who want a little extra special performance :)
board is way too small for the reviewer. if the bindings overhang that much imagine the toe and heel hang lol
