Love everything y’all do and the different ways you bring inspiration to others! Stoke squad and Abe unite! Shoutout the Lake Louise video that introduced me!
Okay well this whole thing is beautiful! The storytelling is unmatched, the skiing is absolutely ripping and the POV and color is about as perfect as it gets! But that hit through the trees at Baldface was actually next level. Watched on the TV with my sister. Didn’t want it to end! 🙌🏽
I was going to go to Japan for a ski trip but then I saw that the resorts were tiny and Canada was so much better for size but it was farther to get to tho
@@VictorKaliadin Shiga-Kogen ski resort in nagano, japan is such a great and big resort tho. its the biggest in japan. snow conditions and quality is brilliant. powder snow is similar to hakuba in this vid!
One thing that has made even the most mediocre ski days really fun is to pick a zone and challenge yourself to pick out a line top to bottom. Ski that a few times and try to link it all together, ski it faster, send it bigger, or challenge yourself in other ways. Skiing is an epic sport where it's just you vs. you or you vs. the mountain and no one else really matters. Remember that :)
Lucas Catania brought me. The yellow Montec & fat Armadas are bomb! Great footage! The pow in Japan is unbelievable. Tight glades, and face shots in BC & Hakuba! Sweet!
Dude saw this on Lucas’s story and had to watch! Such a sick video with all the face shots!! I’ve got to take a ski trip to Japan someday! Now I have to go rewatch Lucas’s top 5 runs!
Heading to Japan next month for my second ski trip! Excited is an understatement, and this time I’m driving from Tokyo to Hokkaido hitting a few resorts north on the mainland. Really wanting to pick up the max to document my own tree lines, but wish there was a Max 2 as the 12+ wide lens looks super nice, especially for social shots! Get to Japan!!
My skiing career ended 10 years ago this past week. What skis do you use? I never got on the 'shaped bandwagon', only renting some a few times. I had (and still have) a pair of Dynastar-195 'straights' which I used for 19 years and were great. I'll be 75 in a few days and really miss the slopes around this time of year!
Well this is just absolutely sick! Mammoth is our home mountain and I know exactly what kind of snow we got during this time. It was measured in daily feet not inches this season. Amazing videography, just the flow alone makes me want to ski right now. Been following Lucas since the start and he always impresses with his dedication each season.
Sitting at home in Alberta right now wondering if we'll even get snow this year. This makes me so jealous. So easy to tell how much fun you are having here and that makes me happy.
You ought to do a color grading tutorial. You've done so much incredible content - but every time I watch your videos, the way your colors look are phenomenal every time. Always on point.
I'm pretty jealous, because skiing is my favorite sport, but i only do it for about 2 weeks a year. Seeing you rip these amazing trails reminds me of my love for this sport, and the mountains in general. Where i live, its far from any snow or mountains, but i still enjoy this sport so much. Thanks for the awesome video.
These are some of the best POV runs I've seen. Those tree runs are to die for! Please, please, please give me some hints how to find that zone in Hakuba! 🙏
Yeah Abe!!! That has been ridiculously good quality in every aspect! I was wondering how you get that crisp skiing and voice sound without any wind noise? Do you use external mics? Greez from Austria! ;)
I'm stunned, it was perfect, that last run was just incredible. The way as humans when we experience joy in it's purest form we can't help ourselves from giggling like children or howling like wolves. There is no other thought in your mind other than "Holy shit" Thank you for sharing
By any chance can you share the go pro settings you have on. I have a Hero 12 and i know yours is the ProMax and it will be slightly different, but it will help me get a general idea.
Yeah! This was all shot with 5k30, flat color, WB auto, iso min 100 iso max 800, sharpness low. When I shoot h12 I shoot in natural color and keep iso max at 1600. 👍🏻
Yeah! No prob! I shoot everything pretty much in 5K30, sharpness low, ev comp -0.5, flat color, WB auto, iso min 100 max 800. For pov I use the hemisphere priority for exposure, And in GoPro player I uncheck horizon lock and world lock for the pov so you don’t need any key frames. For run number 2 and 1 in this video I accidentally shot in 3K60 in max so the quality was not up to my standards but that’s okay :)
Those are the old fenix 3L pants. They don’t sell them new anymore but have some renewed. Super lightweight, honestly the best they’ve made. Just ordered another pair on the renewed site.
I've asked Lucas this same question on one or more of his videos - those tree runs, #5 , #3 and #2 video is as it was, not run faster in editing, correct? I know the answer is yes, that is how fast you skied the trees. I was as uncomfortable watching a video as possible. Don't know whether I am surprised you are still in one piece or just dumbstruck in awe. So fast. Thanks for sharing
What were settings for pov shots? ND filters? Shutter speeds? Would like to know, trying to understand nd filter - snow - shutter speed relation in cases.
Thanks to Lucas Catania for the inspiration to put this together! And thanks for sharing that late December day with me 👌🏻🤙🏻
Here’s to more pow days!

Unreal. Was camera mounted chest or helmet for POV shots?
Love your content! What brand of winter gear do you wear while skiing?

Some nice timber-bashing!
These runs look incredible, super clean!! Did you put a vignette blur on the video or is it just straight from the camera? Thanks!
What a thrill ride!!
looks like paradise
Nice quality. you use nd filters on gopro and 2x fps shutter speed for motion?
Nah, that’s a recipe for bad hypersmooth. Most of this was shot with max which you can’t use ND filters so I’ve used post blur plug-in! RSMB

Yes! Caleb was in Japan with us on that last run! And we just booked another trip last night :)
