    I hate how little this theme was used in the Chibnall era, it's perfect for the Doctor.
    The moment it played during her regeneration was beyond beautiful, so full of triumph and beauty and power. Fingers crossed we see Jodie return one day, and with it a return of her theme.

    I really hope murray gold takes some inspiration from segun alinola, he was a great composer. When the cybermen come back I would love to hear that industrial theme, it fits them so well, the dalek theme was pretty good too. (Im also really hoping the cybermasters come back. I love her regeneration theme, "She's the Doctor" I think it's called. The "Thirteen" theme by itself is so nice too. One of my favourites in the whole series.
    When rewatching series 11-13 last year, I loved hearing it pop up from time to time. It gives me chills!

      I love it too, really fits with the beautiful visuals as well.
      My favourite factoid is that it was this track that Segun used for his audition to become composer for the Chibnall era - can definitely see (or rather hear) why he was picked based on that.

    • @AndyTheRoo
      @AndyTheRoo 3 месяца назад +2

      @@hotdog1214 It is a shame that we didn't really see Segun's potential in the soundtrack. There are some great tracks, but a lot of Chibnall's era was more full of ambient sounds compared to great themes

    • @hotdog1214
      @hotdog1214 3 месяца назад +3

      @@AndyTheRoo I actually quite enjoyed his more ambient, soundscape style, its was a fresh direction for sure - watching the 60th reminded me how front of stage Gold's music is! 😁😁. The themes for Thirteen (in all its lovely variations), the Master, Spyfall, the Cybermen, Breaking the Glass, Me and My Mates, and the building of Gallifrey immediately spring to mind as some that stand out. But I will say that its disappointing we didn't get any recognisable themes for any of the companions. Gold gave us the beautiful Martha's theme for example and that was sadly a glaring hole in the Chibnall era score.

  • @lukebradford

    I loved this era and I honestly think all the hate is unfounded. There isn't a single episode I dislike from it, and 13 is one of my favourite Doctors. I love Segun's scores and I don't care for everyone's constant need to compare him to Gold. Thirteen is honestly my favourite of the Doctor's themes.
    And no, I'm not about to turn around and hate on any other era, I've literally grown up with NuWho (it started when I was 2) and I've liked every era so far apart from the 60th specials (overall, I mean, The Giggle and Church on Ruby Lane were the only good things to come out of the specials, Wild Blue Yonder is by far the worst episode of Who I've ever seen). In fact, I can only think of about 3 or 4 episodes I genuinely dislike and all but one are from the 10 era.
    Basically, Doctor Who is my favourite show, but I can't stand the fandom.

      " I love Segun's scores and I don't care for everyone's constant need to compare him to Gold."
      My sentiments exactly. I think a lot of fans got too used to Gold so felt some sort of misplaced loyalty to not like Akinola but I found his vision of the Who score a breath of fresh air. I spent a good deal of Thirteen's era defending Segun's music as I personally thought it was really beautiful, very close to the classic era of ambient themes and that the critics were simply not open to hearing it. But the most frustrating aspect was exactly that; why try to compare them? Its not a competition. I never quite understand why we fans cant just appreciate the range we got from having a new composer instead of squabbling over who was better. If I'm honest its also the reason I'm a little disappointed that we've gone back to Gold, not because he's not a talented man but because I wouldn't mind hearing some new direction, with someone else's musical interpretation of the Whoniverse.
