Since then she has taken over runways and single handedly managed to change how the fashion industry looks at disabilites. Wasser has managed to start a powerful dialogue about safety and continue her career in front of the camera, representing the physically impaired within fashion.
Top model Lauren Wasser lost her leg to toxic shock syndrome. What would of easily broken any one of us strengthed Lauren.

I'm a survivor and i will always remember watching this at 15 after leaving the hospital. I'm a walking miracle, thank you Lauren for this and continuing to educate and spread awareness of this NOT so rare disease.

It's not about using Tampoons/Sanitary Pads. People get bacterial infections/reactions because of hygiene problems etc. Changing Pads, tampoons frequently is a good practice to follow. Don't leave the pad/tampoon for long, otherwise, it becomes breeding ground for Bacteria.

not only, the tampoons are not desinfected, there have always bacteria inside, and if you stick it inside it is even worth bcs you block them out with blood and they get propagated even faster. THIS IS WHY NEVER PUT THEM INSIDE!!! USE JUST THE PADS SLIPS BETER DESINFECT ThEM BEFORE W. SPIRITUS BUT WASH YOURSELF MINIMUM 2 TIMES PER DAY!!

My only issue with this message is that those of us without wealth, public profile careers or health care wouldn't receive the help or the treatment that she had. They'd merely make us "as comfortable as possible" and let us perish.
I also used tampons for the entirety of my menstrual cycles without any complications, as have four of my sisters and many, many friends. We were all educated/warned about the dangers of Toxic Shock, from a young age. What's changed? There are still pamphlets in each box.

Can someone explain to me tss happens when tampons are left in the body for two long cause it a breeding ground for bacteria and gets into you blood streem only other way she could of got it is if pieces of tampon got stuck on there or took out a dry tampons or if she's was using a larger absorbency some one tell me ??

Ashleigh it actually doesn’t matter how long you leave it in. You can have it in for 5 mins and still get TSS. There was this one case where a 14-year old died after using a tampon for the first time. She followed all of the instructions and used the tampon correctly; it was simply the introduction of the tampon into her body which caused toxic shock syndrome to take effect.
Aisha twice if forgot to take a tampon out before bed time and i woke up horrified in the morning that I would end up with TSS but thank God! I am here. I just hate dealing with other period items especially that diaper feel of a pad so I have to resort to tampons. Also why are they so expensive and taxed, we don’t ask to have periods every single month😤

yes...☹️ it is wat the tampon is made of... sometimes it is written on the box : caution this tampon could cause a TSS (tampon shock syndrom) but it is written in a such small way it is not possible to read 🙁

I love this girl, but this makes no sense. Toxic Shock is usually caused from leaving a tampon in too long and leaving room for bacteria and infection. I have never heard of a case like hers before.
