Stunned Ministry Leader Speaks Out After Christian College Cancels His Event

- UPDATE: Belmont University Office of Communications has issued a statement saying, in part, "Promise Keepers recently issued a press release that incorrectly states why Belmont University decided to withdraw the campus’ Fisher Center as the potential venue for an event anticipated for late September in Nashville. Belmont informed Promise Keepers leadership that the event could not be held on our campus because a blog the organization posted, “In Light of June Being Designated as ‘Pride Month,’” includes comments that we believe unnecessarily fan the flames of culture wars and are harmful to members of our community."
The head of men's ministry Promise Keepers is alleging a private Christian university cancelled its event after the organization released a statement "reaffirming its support for the Biblical, biological, sexual identity of male and female, man and woman, in the context of marriage."
Ken Harrison, CEO of Promise Keepers, told CBN's Faithwire his organization's "Daring Faith" event series was slated to kick off at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, this September until the school reportedly decided to halt the event. "Two days before tickets were supposed to go on sale, I get this little ... email that says, 'Due to recent information, we realize our values don't align with your values' or something to that effect 'so we can't do the event here,'" Harrison said. "I'm like, 'But we have a signed contract, we spent money on this. What do you mean?'"
He said he spoke with one of the vice presidents at the school last week to try and get some clarification. Harrison has no interest in litigating the issue in court, though believes he could do so. That said, he asked the dean to explain the cancellation. As it turns out, Promise Keepers had recently put out a statement on human sexuality, which is the centerpiece of consternation over the matter.
"They said it was the statement we put out a week before on pride," Harrison said. "[At] Promise Keepers, we see as one of our roles is helping men understand how to ... respond to the times, so we put out a thing very basic [statement]." The nonprofit leader said the proclamation affirms there are "two genders created by God, that He forgives all sinners who come to Him, that marriage is between a man and a woman."
Harrison said this biblical statement ended up leading to the cancellation. Despite a positive conversation with the vice president, he felt compelled to speak out after purported silence from the school. "I went into this wanting peace, so we had a great conversation ... she said she'd prayed about the conversation all day and was really pleasantly surprised by how uncombative I was," he said. "I said, 'We have to release a statement."

I was at the Promise Keepers rally in Indy at the stadium in '94. Over 40 thousand men came. At lunch they let us out of the stadium, onto the street to get a sack lunch from an eighteen wheeler. Everyone was patient and kind. We all started singing Amazing Grace. You have not heard that song until you hear it from 40 thousand men at the same time. It was awesome!

Additionally, when you refer to "America" , God is not interested in Christian nationalism or any other nationalism. God is not interested in real estate, but people/souls. He is not interested in a Christian utopia here on earth.(When Jesus comes back He will be king and He will take care of that) We are to live a servants and healers as Jesus did. If Jesus was harsh on anyone it was the religious, the Pharisees and Sadusees. See the gospels for passages.
And I don't know what era of American history you are referring to, but it has always been riddled with sin, just as any other country. I urge you to abandon your nationalism and be a servant like Jesus. Lay your life down. Remember what Jesus said to those who crucified Him "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do." There was no bitterness in Jesus heart, only love. Drink freely of the living water to get filled up on God's love for people. And pray Pauls prayer in Ephesians 3:14-19.
Also, remember the law doesn't change people, only love. See 2Cor 3. Paul refers to the law as "the ministry of condemnation" and "the ministry of death ."
If want others to feel God's love for them, do a good work, or ask if you can hold there hand and pray for them asking the Holy Spirit to touch their heart. You will be amazed. The Holy Spirit can speak anyone's language. The Holy Spirit will flow through you. The Holy Spirit ministers to the heart. Remember also Jesus words in Luke 4:18-19. Then He closed the book, for a reason.
@@johnsmith-iv6sc I'm an intercessor that's the spiritual gift the Holy Spirit has bestowed upon me. Jesus is my life. A life of servitude that drains you at times because I'm all over the place serving and not taking time for myself. As Christians, we need to learn balance. If not, we burn out. That's where the Holy Spirit comes in. He refreshes and restores you one way or the other. It's taking time alone, soaking in the presence of God. To those who serve fervently, take time in the presence of God to rejuvenate and restore yourself spiritually and physically. Many times, we do things in the flesh and not in the spirit. This means we should be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit as to who and how we should serve people. And as far as clergy addressing sin, absolutely but we are all priests according to the word of God. 1Peter 2:9, Revelation 5:10. So when we see someone in habitual sin, we are to address them in a loving way. Paul gives us the order in which we should address a brother or sister in the church.

That's exactly what happened to Harvard, Yale and other Christian universities. They were started in biblical foundation. But a little compromise here and there until nothing was left of what it has been founded for.😢😢😢 I'm a Filipina and a Christian educator. My students think the weekdays school that i teach is like a Sunday school. I responded by saying, "The Bible is not only good in Sunday school. But also in Monday school, Tuesday school and so forth.

I've heard prophsey s about churches that won't preach God's word but have sermons to tickle the ears so they are really not preachers called by God they're just motivational speakers. No heaven or hell so sin no salvation

Sent 2 of my kids to a so-called Christian college one year, originally founded by a major denomination. They had very liberal professors teaching things clearly anti-biblical that shocked the Christian students. How far we have fallen!
Call them out on it. EVERY generation has this fight in one form or another. Especially in Christian institutions. Where better to wear sheep’s camouflage, which is the original excellent Christian reputation, which they misappropriate for Satan.

My now estranged daughter came out of an undergrad so-called Christian college a complete atheist. Not believing the Bible. She went on to graduate school at an extremely liberal college. She is somebody I don't even recognize. She wants nothing to do with me. They teach them that parents are trash if they're conservative. My daughter is lost forever.

I withdrew from Liberty University after a semester. I was pursuing a masters in Christian counseling and after taking the ethics class and writing papers and reading the ethics text books which were very secular, I was disturbed at how much compromise they were training us to have. I am accountable to God first and out of integrity, I could not continue on with Liberty.

Honestly, if you are pursuing a master's degree to become a licensed counselor at any university (Christian or not) you have to follow the national secular standards or you can't get your license to practice. It's so wrong! Very frustrating. I have a family member who found this out at another Christian university (in Kentucky) also. After a year,he left, as well, because it doesn't matter where you go. National standards are all they accept.

This is also happening in Australia. My pastor was to lead out in the 'week of prayer' at a local school (under the same denomination), after his first address, he was told not to return. The schools are afraid of losing their government funding. Biblical truth is being censored in so-called Christian schools, for the sake of profit. They should be stripped of their title, and numbered amongst the public school system

He’s not staying true thiugh. The Bible doesn’t say “practicing” homosexuals. It simply says homosexuals. To have lust for homosexuality is sin, not just the practice. He’s softening the message by adding to Scripture.
@@christophercunningham5434 I'm going to have to disagree with you. We all have sinful natures and sinful desires of some sort. It's the acting upon those sinful desires/lusts that is the sin. And yes, even pondering it in our hearts is sinful. But that's when we turn to the Lord and ask for forgiveness and the strength to resist it. A recovering alcoholic, who still fights against the desire to drink, isn't sinning unless he gives in to those desires and gets drunk. There are many homosexuals who have accepted the Lord and have come out of that lifestyle but still struggle with those feelings. We can't tell them they aren't saved because they struggle with those temptations. If we tell people if they still struggle with sinful feelings or thoughts they can't be saved then we are all doomed for destruction without any hope.

Thank you for speaking the truth Ken. People need to see and hear this. If they don't want to hear the truth then it is their problem. It is so sad that there are Christian Colleges out there that are not about truth. God gives us empowerment and the strength to spread the truth.

Yes it is and so sad that many are falling away from the truth. I found another channel that's speaking truth from Scriptures and exposing the end-time darkness through prophecy called " Follow The Lamb Today "..... They also found where the ark of the covenant was made near mount Sinai.
I went to a "Christian College" and my faith studies teacher taught from a book that said Most of the folks in the bible werent actual people but more so stories for people to demonstrate life lessons. Like Daniel wasn't actually in a lion's den. I was shocked to my core.

Brother, you spoke truth to power. If you look at the curriculum in our Catholic universities, you will be shocked to the core! We are talking about Feminist studies, Gender studies (with emphasis on transgenderism), social justice, and the list goes on. These subjects are being offered as Majors, Minors, and Graduate studies. Unfortunately, these universities show to be no different from our public universities. Also, the people hired to lecture these courses show to have questionable backgrounds. I am talking about hard-core_ radical "professors "infiltrating our Christian institutions, all while we Christians are funding these institutions.

Make a list of these universities & colleges, then publish them in the Christian communities.

Yes!! The very same thing is happening at The Webb School in Bell Buckle TN. They portray themselves as having Christian morals however the classes/coursework say something completely different

Some Christian originations come and go, and you can easily determine the solid ones from the well intentioned but non lasting, and sadly the scams. Promise Keepers have kept its promises over the years. Ken Harrison's message is solid.

This is sad, but also exciting! It's revealing the line that has been drawn to show who's really His. This mirrors my personal life. There are those close to me that say they follow God but blatantly do not follow His Word. I believe that the Christian colleges and churches are being challenged to compromise and are losing that battle. It's sad. Many blessings to this man and the ministry!
