Bobby Brown was an original member, Jonny Gill was brought in when Bobby left. N.E. HEARTBREAK is the only album Bobby is not on.
Bobby actually started the group he wasn't in the group doing this time
Highly recommend watching the new edition story. You won't be confused about why you see different group members and plus it's such a good show/movie.
He really should, but if that's too time-consuming, he could also just go to Wikipedia. 🤷🏾♀️
I just jumped out my seat….one of my favs. This was late 80’s and Bobby Brown went solo mid 80’s. He then rejoined on the Home again album and has been off and on.
Soooo many hitters in this video... Malcolm Jamal Warner, Shanice, the boys, heavy D..... Just a classic video and song
That's why I love this video...brings back memories! Plus, Robert Townsend....
@@lisacox3750 yeeeeesssssss..... 🙌🏿
Yes and the white guy with the brown hair with Malcolm was on Mr Belvedere
@@deesee3622 I knew he looked familiar I just couldn't figure it out 😀
Jack, there are so many famous musicians and actors in this video! Beginning with Malcolm Jamaal-Warner from the Cosby show.
New Edition been out since 78 but their first hit wasn't until 1983 This came out in 1988 Bobby was an original member until he was ' voted ' out years before this album !!! Johnny was brought in because they were thinking Ralph was gonna leave
I’m so glad you reacted to this because this is one of my favorite NE joints. I love everything from the choreography to how Ronnie, Ricky, and Mike got more of a chance to shine in this one. Everybody in the group was recognizably involved.
New Edition was formed in 1978 their debut album was 1983 with Candy Girl being the first single Bobby Brown left the group in 1985 and in 1986 was Bobby’s first solo album was in 1986 this song was in 1988 after Johnny Gill joined
This album was NE's biggest and best
There is so much going on with this song. This is the song that birthed BBD. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis suggested that they start their own group because other members was doing solo projects. If you listen to the whole version of this song you will hear Michael Bivins thank LL for writing his rhymes.
Video appearances- Sharnice Wilson,The Boys,Lou Ski from Soul Train,Club Noveau,Malcolm J Warner from The Cosby Show,RIP MC SMOOTH & MORE
The video concept was supposed to be they were suffering from heartaches so they were trying to cheer them up 😂 You know that’s Johnny Gill right (with the deep voice)
The Genius of the LEGENDARY Iconic Mr Jimmy Jam and Mr Terry Lewis
From the NE Heartbreak album and the NE Heartbreak Tour of '88 with New Edition, AL B Sure and Bobby Brown.
New Edition does it for me every damn time 🔥🔥🔥... N.E. heartbreak album was when they broke away from their kiddie clean cut image.
This is another video that differs from the album version. I think you would like both. Actually, you just need to listen to the whole N.E. Heartbreak album. It's very 80s, but it's still a gem.
Straight through too.
Bobby is a founding member of NE. He was voted out the group and went solo afterwards.
Bobby was was touring with them both as a solo artist and as part of the group up until their final Legacy Tour earlier this year. So Bobby is and will always be a part of New Edition.
@@EriElle0625 Yes he's definitely NE 4 life. And you're correct, he was traveling with them on tour early on.
Thank you Bojax for the request!!!
The LEGENDARY Iconic New Edition
B Brown is not only an original member. He brought them pretty much together.
Lol Bobby got kicked out. This is off the Heart Break album which was released 35 years ago yesterday, along with Bobby's Don't Be Cruel album. Both are instant classics.
That's johnny gill at the end blowing
Ralph Tresvant, Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell and Miike Bivens were the original group starting in 1978. They added Ronnie DeVoe 2 years later in 1980 (his uncle was their manager). Bobby Brown left the group, so they added Johnny Gill. Bobby came back to do a few songs years later. The group never broke up, just splintered off into side groups. If I have any of this incorrect, please let me know.
There's a lot of celebrities like film director Robert Townsend and Malcolm Jamal Warner from the Cosby Show in the background also. 😎👍🏾
NE hit it big in 1983, bobby was an original member leaving in 1985. Johnny Gil joined in 1988. Bobby came back for the home again album.
N.E. Heartbreak was released around 1988 and Bobby Brown was solo about this time. He was the first one to break off from the group (he was kicked out) and became a superstar. He first reunited with the group around 1990 or 1991. Johnny Gill was hired, and people felt it was to take Bobby's place. The New Edition biopic says he was really hired to take Ralph's place! But Ralph didn't leave after all.
Around about 1990, all the fellas took a break from N.E. Ricky, Mike, and Ronnie broke off and formed Bell Biv DeVoe (Ricky Bell, Mike Bivens, Ronnie DeVoe). They were HUGELY popular for a while. Ralph did a solo album, and Johnny Gill released a solo too. Bobby was still doing his own thing. It was a while before they officially let Bobby back into the group, but they eventually did. Word to the Mutha around 1991-ish was kind of an experiment to see how it would work out.
You saw Hit Me Off, so we know how that worked. Now, they're getting ready to have a residency in Vegas. I said in a comment in your "Hit Me Off" video that I saw them on March 11, 2023, and they are amazing live. That Vegas show is gonna be so LIT!!!
New edition another favorite of mine.
You just made my inner 16 yr old smile!! Also this is the era when Bobby Brown was out there killin em dead!!!
My favorite song from NE. Plus Heavy D in the video.
My absolute favorite NE video!!!! The outfits and dance moves tho....Bobby was gone. Alot of cameos in this video
Bobby was kicked out for drugs and bad behavior in 1986. This is when they got Johnny Gill who is a fantastic singer in the late 80s. I prefer THIS line up because of the maturity he brought. The guys also became better looking too lol.
It's kind of tragic that so many people don't get the significance of the people at the party. Club Nouveau, J.J. Fad, The Boys (a boy group), Shanice, Heavy D., Robert Townsend, Malcolm Jamaal-Warner (Theo from The Cosby Show "Get 'em out the house."). This video was so fun for us 80s kids! For all the names, just type them into the search bar. You'll find something on all of them. Even a dancer from Soul Train who the fellas were a HUGE fan of!
You can never go wrong with New Edition. I'm an Ne4lifer 😊
This was N.E. first album with Johnny Gill. Bobby left the group and started his successful solo career.
You need to see them in concert. I’ve seen them with and without Bobby Brown.
Yo Jack, you had me rolling, "I thought they were about to kill 'em"! 🤣
Yes, a N.E. classic.
Is that actors Malcolm Jamal Warner from the Cosby Show, Robert Townsend as the limo driver and Heavy D Lol didn't know they did videos too. I miss video cameos....Fun times back then. Great reaction....enjoyed the music video.
Nice request. I thought about this one. I bought the album in 1989 as Christmas present for my brother
Classic
Wow this was definetly a jammer right here ..L❤ve me some New Edition
If you really want to be confused, both The Temptations & Fleetwood Mac have had close to 30 different members over the years. 😂
This song is off the Heartbreak Album that came out in 1988 after Bobby Brown left but still a great song
Jack React that was Michael Bivins busting that hard rap at the end. You know him and Ronnie are the hardest rappers in the group. NE are some talented diverse MEN. ❤
Once johhny g joined...bobby b was out doing is own music😊😊
Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis on production
If I remember right I think LL cool J wrote Michael Bivins rhyme on this
Johnny Gill kills it at the end!!! 🔥🔥
BBD is not kind of New Edition, they are the members. Period. My favorite boy band, ever.
This song is from the 1988 N.E. Heartbreak album. Bobby left and Johnny Gill joined. Bobby eventually kinda rejoined the group.
Bell Biv Devoe are members of New Edition. They never truly broke up and they said they never will. They just do individual projects all the time. NE just finished a tour a few weeks ago. Bobby comes in and out throughout the years. He was solo during this era. Johnny Gill replaced him. NE4LIFE!!!
This album came out in 1988 same year as Bobby's Don't Be Cruel album. In fact, NE and Bobby (along with Al B. Sure) toured together in 1988 to promote their albums. This lineup of NE -- Ralph Ricky Ronnie Mike and Johnny Gill -- only recorded this one album; Ralph and Johnny released solo albums in 1990 and BBD released their debut album the same year. In 1996, all six NE members came together to record the Home Again album and tour, but the tour was a colossal disaster.
You're forgetting the album One Love from 2004 which had everyone except Bobby.
You should check out the album version, completely different the beat Is way harder, also original members were Ronnie Bobby Ricky Mike and Ralph, Bobby left in 1985. This was 1988 this was also when Johnny Gill joined the group, all 6 members would come together for the first time in 1990 for Word to The Mutha which you reacted to the other day, then in 1996 they released their first and only album with all 6 members on it which had the song Hit Me Off which you reacted to a while ago
This video was good stuff back in the day. I don't think Jack recognized all the celebrities that were showing up. Some that he's done reactions to. Heavy D, Shaniece,The Boys, dude from Club Nouveau,Malcolm Jamal Warner, and Robert Townsend! Star studded party!
Bobby Brown went solo these times
Bobby Brown was the founding member. 1983 .
Jack should definitely start asking the requesters to include the date the song was released. It would definitely help him understand the eras of different music and styles
💥 New edition started in 1978 yes bobby brown was the original member but then he went solo but would come back occasionally
Hammer pants.... this was 88/89
New edition is so 🔥🔥🔥🔥 this song is amazing and my favorite by them is candy girl that's my song much love 💖💖💖💖🥰
This is a classic 🔥🔥🔥 great reaction Jack !
🧡
Bobby was an original member!
This a good one❤❤❤ 🔥
Summer 89 vibes
I highly recommend watching NE perform this song (better version) on Soul Train and watch how smooth Ralph Tresvant catches his mike when he accidentally knocks it off the stand. The ST episode was the introduction of Johnny Gill performing with the group on the show.
Well at this they kick Bobby out the group then Johnny Gill replace. Evidently Bobby came back into group. This is like late 80s maybe 88 they debuted back in 1983. Malcom Jamar Warner who played Theo huxtable on the The Cosby made cameo appearance
Bobby is the one that started new edition
The album version of this song CRACKS!! It’s an absolute banger. Must listen to full blast in the ears or in the car. The video is fun… but it doesn’t capture the song. If you like the final chant at the end and the bass in the song, it comes thru ten fold on the album version. The lyrics to that last piece are:
Beware of NE Heartbreak
Spreading fast and there’s no cure
No need to run from heartache
It’s gonna get you, get you for sure.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
check out the album version of this song... 🔥
5:37 that is johnny gill 👀👀
Wow you missed a lot of celebrities at the party like Heavy D Theo from Cosby show and etc
I want to see you react to
BELL BIV Devoe song
Word to the mutha
New Edition still in love
Johnny Gill this ones for me and you
Request: Whitney Houston 1994 American Music Awards.
1988
How is this???? thats the goat Heavy D.... young people SMH RIP
This is not the album version. More like the remix.
6:16 what's wrong with you jack 😑😑😑
The album versions alot better
The album version of the song is better.
New edition you’re not my kind of girl
That beat is stank...
Bell Biv Devoe ARE members of New Edition...totally...completely. They are original members along with Bobby Brown, and Ralph Tresvant. Bobby was the first to leave the group for a solo career. Johnny Gill, who was moderately successful as a solo performer, joined the group after Bobby's departure, that's when his career really took off. They were like 14 when they hit nationally with "Candy Girl"...THAT'S young New Edition. The dude's voice you liked is Johnny Gill.
