I always look forward to your videos Don. Your calm and quitlet demeanor as well as your audio are very peaceful and soothing. I've found myself watching almost more for the therapeutic qualities than the bushcrafting itself. It is truly good for the soul
I totally agree with @the overlander utv! It's soothing and calming to watch, been saving your video's so I can binge-watch them on a relaxed Sunday ^^ Thanks, Søren, also thank you for the explanation in your description! Doesn't matter when some things don't work out as you planned, at least you tried, that's better than doing nothing. And btw, how is your shelter/fire cabin doing?? You had to move it and rebuild it. Also I had a good laugh @13:57 -> Musen is killing it ^^
When you pulled that lid back I started salivating. Know exactly what that tastes like. Well done! For crayfish I found generally it's better if the fish or meat is a bit rotten. About the time it begins to stink (few days old)
It's fascinating seeing how much time it actually takes to make these ancient devices ! Our ancestors worked ALL day every day doing this sort of thing. Intimidating compared to our sedentary society. I love the design of that little veranda tent ! What an incredibly practical feature ! That smoked trout looked really GOOOOD 👍 Pity about the bitterness...
My friend, our ancestors worked less then the modern man. Hunter gather, living as a mountain man/ bush crafting only took me about a 16 to 20 hours a week working, on average But mixing the hunting and gathering with agriculture can shorten the work week further. We've managed to "high society" ourselves into a harder lifestyle!
(1960s) When I was a kid some old, rural guys would guard areas of flat, boggy, valley bottoms to encourage and copse willow trees to supplement their pensions- out grandfather had such a ‘withy garden’. The sticks would be used to support garden plants like runner beans and make baskets n stuff. A bill hook was called a patch hook and I thought it was called that because our g.father would use it to work his patch.
Enjoy your video's! Interesting way to smoke fish. I like fruit wood for smoking especially plum if you can find it. Cheers and all the best from Upstate, NY USA
Soren, this is one of the BEST docu-vids you've made so far! Awesome ASMR, and perfect goal scores for NO music...👍 Please continue this kind of content style because this is what we like, yeaah... Beautiful British Columbia, Canada.
The crawfish trap was absolutely amazing. If I could make something that cool I would be damned if I would throw it in the creek. Hang it up on a wall and show it off, yes. How do you learn to do all the outdoors things you do? Your videos are the most entertaining and peaceful for me, bar none. I sincerely wish you to take care of yourself and the family as I look at you as a true treasure. And the look when you pulled the trap was a true belly laugh! Priceless....
Haha!! Thank you :) I love to learn new stuff, so i find inspiraton, study it, and try my best. I would love to weave alot more, and learn some more techniques. :)
thanks for the update and having us all along for the adventure. Love reading the "Fine Print" which answered a couple of questions. All the best.and hope you're prepared for the transition from fall to winter.
Art that required a lot of patience. Making yourself a traps for fishing is such a useful perk in bushcraft, but many of us don't have a river nearby or maybe they don't have such a patience as you've Don. Good luck with a new shelter and with your bushcrafts. Much love, from Slovakia
Cayden and I agree, one of the many gifts you give all who watch your videos is...peace. For the 2 of us it's also a chance for a 10 year old boy to learn about his ancestors, his great and great great grandfather's, who I was lucky enough to learn many of these skills from. Thank you never seems enough. Now, if you can help me get rid of the new girlfriend who thinks walking through the parking lot to the mall is experiencing the outdoors..."but Aunt T, she's really pretty..." 🙄
Soren👍👍 Beautiful, pains taking construction of the trap, sorry the longevity will be short lived. Thought maybe there was reed grass at the river bank, now I know. Too bad about the invasive species, invaders show up every where it seems. Sometimes the camp just works against you, weaving the trap, smoking the fish, bandage etc., been there many times. Luckily we get to try again eh... Yeah, no rodents in camp with the tiny tiger around, cool that Musen and Cody get along with it. I still say as a woodsman/bushcrafter, you're at the top of the game. Camera lens..bummer...happens. Thanks for the work sharing the experience. Good health to all. See you next time.
Awesome idea how to start weaving the trap. That's why I love not a lot of endless talking, We can wait and see where you're going. You are also very kind to your animals. Thank you. Love the smoker as well. My two sons won't let me watch one of your new videos without them. Ha! Blessings.
Even your fish trap is a piece of artwork in itself. You are a natural beauty maker of the forest. I’m sorry to hear it cost a little bit of your finger though! I hope it is not too sore. You found your cat friend again, how loving she is & a friend for musen, and the black Labrador, she is adorable. I bet the kittens are too! I cannot stand fish, or fishing, but still love every video you make. I’m sorry it ust have cost you a fortune in camera equipment recently & so frustrating too. As always, sending beautiful autumn love your way, and snuggles for the animals (but don’t tell them musen gets an extra cuddle) 💕
Thanks Sheila :) I am use to cutting myself. When i was hammering with the knife i had a finger on the blade (on top) nothing serious. Love from us back at you :)
Успокоилась когда вышла 2я собака уже успела подумать , что-то произошло....Видно что этот человек если что-то задумал то сделает и дойдет до конца, надёжный мужчина.Очень интересно смотреть видео.👏
I have missed your videos! Thanks for sharing so much information about the weaving, and about the animals that joined you. Beautiful weaving work, but I would have expected nothing less from you! You are an excellent craftsman! Sorry about that salmon though. I'll bet you were looking forward to it! Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and healthy!
great video don, all your animals are good company too bad no crayfish but next time will be better. nice weather there. take care and looking forward to next video.
As always another beautiful video Don, your production quality is just amazing mate, the visuals are great and the sound quality is some of the best on the platform. You have so much skill in bushcraft thank you for sharing that with the world.
¡¡¡¡¡Good good video good set up of the trap good job DonVonGun the bridge looked good and the place looks enjoyable very entertaining congratulations!¡¡¡¡

I know ur busy, it might be fun to be in a film fest? Sundance? Idk, im not one to get dressed up and socialize, but it might be a fun experience to tell the "grandkids" about oneday?
Excellent video (again) Morten! Since you are determined not to send me the kuksa you may send me the leuku as an early christmas present. After all you are only hurting yourself with it😁. Here in Flanders I wouldn't dream of trying to catch crayfish assuming they could survive in our still too polluted streams. Take care!
Hi Don! Awesome video! You have amazing Bush Craft skills. I didn't see you cut yourself, but I did see Musen have a piece of fish. 🙂 Really loved the tent, super cool. So envious of your campsite setting. I enjoyed seeing the color change. If I did find a place like that here, it wouldn't be that peaceful and restful. To risky for the dogs and cat play so freely...gators, wild hogs and venomous snakes. The mosquitoes and biting flies would carry you away. 😄 Sorry your camera had issues. I hope your finger is healing nicely. Really enjoyed watching! Waiting for the next video. Take care🌲🌲🏕️🌲🌲
Thanks Ann :) I didn't film at the time. When hammering with the knife i had a finger on the edge, nothing serious. :) Wow, the most dangerous thing around here in DK is ticks. :D
Very enjoyable but to be honest I was waiting for the crawdaddy haul. I’m not familiar with the species that are invasive over there but I’ve never had a bad crawdaddy. We boil em with corn, tatters and some add hamhocks. Sorry, I jus love crawdad
