When I was a manager, the best employees I had was the one without experience because they tried really hard to impress, to get a raise, to get better hours etc…
I will take this with me into Coding. If I ever become a hire manager, I will remember those employees.

Networking is key...that's how I landed my first coding position without any experience. I network with some coders from my local AAPC chapter in San Antonio, TX and was able to get an interview and job. Once hired, I help one of my friends land a job 3 months later.

I have my CPC-A been having it since 2019 and haven’t been able to find a job due to no experience. I was actually at the point on giving up. I saw a post on Facebook about company hiring coders to email resume so I emailed asking if they hire no experience and I was scheduled my first interview for a coding position. I’m not going to lie I’m extremely nervous it’s tomorrow but listening to your video has given me some confidence I needed. Thank you ☺️

Subscribed! Also, I’m self studying for my cpc exam. No experience at all but I’ve been putting off school for a few years now. Mainly because I can’t just not work lol. So I’ve been studying super hard for the last few months. It’s hard without the books yet: ICD-10-CM, HCPCS & CPT. but I’m planning on getting one each paycheck, so that’s one every 2 weeks! I’ll get there! Ive made flash cards with index cards and I’ve been studying like crazy! Listening while I clean at work (I do housekeeping) as well as when I get home from work or when I’m off! Anyway, sorry for the long comment. But I’m so glad I found your page! I’ll be watching every video lol.

I hope you become the most famous medical coder vlogger out there because it was so nice hearing you talk. I am a newly certified CPC-A myself, just started Practicode to remove my A status and I feel like I have no idea what I am doing, having a little bit of the imposter syndrome. I am looking for a job as well but I am very scared to even think about an interview. I don’t have almost anything valuable on my resume and my confidence is almost 0. I’m not picky at all, remote or not, I am very motivated to build and make this a career for myself. Hearing about your experience and all the knowledge you have now, gave me more confidence to keep going. Thank you!

Congratulations on passing your CPC exam! That's a fantastic accomplishment. I totally understand the challenges of job hunting, especially for remote positions. Networking: Engage with professionals in the coding field through LinkedIn, forums, or local coding associations. Sometimes, job opportunities aren't openly advertised, so networking can open doors. Persistence is key-don't be discouraged by rejections. It's indeed a competitive field. Keep applying, keep networking, and stay persistent. Remote opportunities might take a little longer to find, but they're out there. You've got this!

Love this! A lot of people beat around the bush with super general info in these types of videos. My first position after cpc has been a home health company, originally clerical work as an in, but now only resolving our coders queries and doing some oasis chart review. I still feel like I might be lost if I was trying to code to some extent and I could learn a lot more, not sure what will happen from here but I definitely got lucky.

Thank you for your kind and motivational words. It really is hard out here no lie. I’ve been at a billing company since January of this year and completed both my CBCS and CCA in February. I knew straight off the bat that I wanted to be a coder. I kind of settled in the billing job because I got to work from home but I still hate it 😢. Which is why I decided to take the CPC. I failed with a 68 on my first try and did a second attempt a week ago (still waiting for the results). I’m always applying for coding positions but I too fell for the “just try to get your foot in the door with any clerical or administrative position in the hospital” sigh I’ll get back too applying for coding positions with a positive mindset. Will let y’all how that goes.

The path to your goals might have its hurdles, but your perseverance shines through it all. Failing an exam can be disheartening, but it's also an opportunity to learn and grow. Your dedication to taking the CPC again despite the setback shows your resilience. Keep that positive mindset-it's truly a game-changer. Believe in your abilities, and know that each attempt is a step closer to success. Your experience in billing isn't wasted-it's a part of your journey and will complement your coding career. Remember, setbacks are temporary. Stay focused on your goal, keep learning, and keep striving. Your dedication will pay off.

OMG... Thank you so much Quita! I seriously wanna cry. This video was extremely helpful. I had looked at others before I discovered your page but they didn't give nearly as many golden nuggets or inspiration as you did. After watching you, I know I can do it. I try to let my age deter me from starting but you encouraged me that I can do it and stop with the negative thoughts. Thank you! Thank you! I'm a new subscriber and new virtual friend forever!!!

I love this ❤❤ Thank you for posting!!!!! Love your energy✨ I have 1 more year to get my cert :))) I am on reddit a lot in the medicalcoder sub and while there is good info there, there are many gloom & doomers. These are people who did not find jobs and need a place to vent so they go there. Likely they have severe anxiety and do not know how to present themselves or they are not putting their best foot forward. Medical coding attracts very introverted and severely socially anxious types of people (me) but what they don't realize is that they still need to be able to conquer that just a little bit to get through an interview. I remember there was someone in there saying on one of post that they never get past phone interviews and they are giving up. Well on a different post they also said they get severe anxiety with talking on the phone. That is exactly what I am saying!
Just want to put out there that this is the business side of healthcare. You have to shine the best way you can whether you are an introvert, anxious, extrovert. You need to be professional and try your best, believe in yourself!!! OP got it we can too.

Wow…I just came across your channel, and I love it! I just recently got my associates degree in RHIT last may but I’m not registered yet, so I have been having a hard time finding a job because I don’t have my cpc or rhit yet. I’m scared to take my rhit so I’m thinking of taking the cpc first. I just had my baby so I just started back studying.
What resume company did you use because I feel the same way, I DID NOT want to pay anyone, but I’m going to go ahead and get a professional resume writer

Love the video. I know not to give up. Thank you for the 5 tips. I have got a lot of call back due to I do not have the CPC-A. I have worked in the billing office for over 10 years while I was in school the supervisor I worked for sent letter in to the AAPC once I passed the test I came out with CPC. Still not able to found a position with no experience. I will indeed keep looking. Thank you for inspiration.

I have been watching your videos because I have been thinking about getting into Medical Billing and Coding. This was the main thing I was wondering was how hard it is to find a job with no experience. Because I have just been looking online just to get a idea and seems like most of the jobs, require experience. In my area there is a online program for it, so I hope I am able to get it next month. Thank you for your videos and wish me luck.

Thank you! Very helpful. You are so sweet! My thoughts were running with the "what are you doing? and You will not find anything, everyone wants experience." I am currently going to a technical school online and going to be moving to another state. I was really hoping to find something before I move and possibly from home. I am open to either because I want a better income. I am a single Mom and turning 51, I am ready for a better life. :) Thank you again and God bless!! :)

Don't lose hope in finding remote positions; it can take some time, but your dedication will pay off. Hopefully, you have landed a role already. I'm glad the video helped boost your confidence. Keep applying and staying persistent. There are opportunities out there waiting for someone as motivated as you!
