I started coding after a divorce and being an empty nester because I was 50 and absolutely could not work for minimum wages and make it lol. I got my first job with a billing company and then got hired to work at a military hospital as a contractor. I attended a meeting and was the only one there that could tell why a physician was not making money (codes were incorrect). They changed my job and promoted me to be the Auditor/Trainer. I went from one level to top paying. I also work 20 hours part time for another company . Then I took the CPC-I course and exam, passed and became an instructor. I started my own business, as a consultant and trainer. I am 67 and work remote, own my own business, contract code/audit when ever I want too. I teach at a community college, Coding & Billing, whenever I want to pick up the work. There are so many ways to go with this!- Have worked everyday in the pandemic.

Thank you for this video, super inspiring. I graduated with my Associates degree in medical billing and coding but due to the pandemic during my graduation period, I was having a hard time getting a job in which I could get hands on training not just book training but it has been impossible. Any advice on where I can get hands on training if there are no in person medical facilities hiring?
Thanks so much for sharing this information! I hold a Master's degree in teaching and healthcare and I'm interested in obtaining the certification to begin working part time as a coder. And your right with this field, there is a demand. And for most professional like myself you have to obtain a certification or some sort to be competitive in the industry. I'm in the process of enrolling in a program, but I'm wondering if this is a industry I could work in part time after the completion of a program/certification testing.
Hi Mam, Your classes are very helpful for my exams.Thank u. .I have seen an advertisement regarding medical coding vacancies in Switzerland for AAPC/AHIMA certified candidates. I think European countries are following ICD 10 A M.Could you please tell whether Switzerland is accepting AAPC certifications?
Hello, and thank you for the wonderful video! I am an RN not currently working as such due to a work injury. I will start my Medical Billing and Coding classes in January 2024, and I am very excited! How hard is it to launch your first job as a Medical Coder? I know that it might not be possible right away, but I would like to eventually work from home as well. Another question I have is, can you work only in the state you get certified or for companies in other states as well? Thank you so much! Luciana
You can land your first job immediately after getting certification if you apply yourself. There are multiple positions available. Make sure the school you attends has recruitment efforts for their graduates. Medical Coding Certifications, CPC, CCS, etc., are national certifications, which means you can work in any State or Country.
Hey girl! Love your videos. I am taking my CPC exam Dec 2nd. Very soon! My only worry with this job is it being a desk job. I LOVE research. I am great at it. I am an introvert also. The job checks off all the boxes for me besides the sitting all day part... I have seen some get stand up desks? What are your thoughts on this, ma'am? Thank you. God bless
I need some guidance. I wish I could speak with you. I'm feeling discouraged and feel like my dream of being a coder no matter how far I've come in preparation, that it's further and further away. 😢
I am introverted & love reading, research, organization & science. I think this field could be great for me, but as a newly single mom to a toddler I am not sure about the job market. I live near major metropolitan cities but don't have experience working in billing or medical offices. I've already selected a schooling program but would not be able to participate in the unpaid externship because I need to work & take care of my daughter. Given the sitiation, how difficult might it be for someone with a CPC credential but no experience to get a work from home job? If I need to start out in an office how long might it take until I can work from home? I'm just scared to invest financially if the opportunity doesn't turn out to be what I'm hoping for. Thanks so much.
Can I work from home even as a brand new medical coder? I'm thinking of studying this, but being home is crucial for me. Or would I have to work in an office until I had some experience and then be able to work from home. Could I work from home right away?
It will depend on which company you work for. Some companies start medical coders off at home, while others require you to work either on site or work on site for a period of time before sending you home.
I have been in billing now for 9 years. I now absolutely hate it! 😭 It has gotten worse each year so now I am pursuing the coding side. Every job will have its challenge but billing is just ridiculous. 🥴 In my opinion, it is not the job itself, it is the inconsistency with the insurance companies and poor representatives training. Time for me to move on. I am researching how I can prepare this year studying with the AAPC to test 2024. I am so ready to be done with 95% of my day being on the phone transferred from one department to the other Lol.
i have been curious about medical coding because i schedule surgeries for doctor at a hospital and want to know how to incorporate that skill into my medical background now
Thank you for this video. I'm a Surgical Technologist for 11 years now. 2 years of Nursing Assistance prior to that and I'm very interested in changing careers. Medical Coding has always interested me. I look forward to watching your other video, you're giving me hope!
Utah but also India and Dubai. Advice? Is there any medical coding that cannot be outsourced offshore? How do you get job security and good wages living in the USA?
Well I do have concerns I'm up age 55 young. However, went to school (will not mention name ) Big waste time and money then this is new journey I love medical coding ..but scared if take this class my age will be issue either get hired ? On the fence new year and new career maybe.🙏🙏🥺
Maria Pianti, I will say with remote coding, I interviewed, tested and got my last coding job without being seen. It was all done remotely. So, I don't think age is a concern for remote work.
I, too, am 55 years young and in my final semester of medical billing and coding. It is also a concern of mine that my age would be a factor in securing a job in this field. Hope it's not a complete waste of time and like CodeMaster's brother, paying back money for a field I'm not in. Good luck and I pray you found your career choice.
Hello! I have just stumbled upon your channel with an active interest in this Field. I was wondering if you took a 2-year course? That is what my Community College offers

Positions are available in medical clinics, medical insurance companies and private physicians’ offices.
I was certified this year and working on practicode now. If I am able to work, it would only be for part time work. Is it feasible to find part time medical coding jobs?
Congratulations!! You should land an oppurtunity in no time! I am a huge fan of Indeed job search. Under the experience option on indeed, you can choose entry level or search medical coding no exerience required then just start applying. Even for the ones you don't feel you qualify, apply! I reside in North Carolina but currently work for a company in California I found on Indeed. Best wishes!
Can you work remotely from places like South American and South East Asia? I've been a Massage Therapist for 20yrs here in the states but looking to switch careers in the near future. Is there medical coding in the Spa industry?
J.D. Vision, I don't see why you can't code remotely from other countries. I do know companies have to get licensure to be able to allow access but it is possible. As for the Spa industry, is there a physician involved? If so, then yes but if not, then no.
Out of curiosity, have you ever ran across any companies open to their coders working out of the country? I do a lot of travel back and forth between NV and Jamaica. I'm getting ready to take my exam in a few months 🙏🏿 It's extremely encouraging to see so many more medical coding channels with a real life experience. Thank you so much ❤️.

It depends on where you work. Most coding jobs are a 40 hour a week job. However, if you have a productivity requirement, you can do both. In other words, if I know I am required to complete a number of charts per hour and I meet my quota before the 8 hours a day is up, I still claim my 8 hours a day since I met my quota.
Good question Busajja Moses. There is something called Computer Assisted Coding (CAC), but there still needs to be some tangibility to the medical coding, which causes CAC to still need the human touch.

A beginner to learn medical coding as I belong to pharma industry for quite a long period with Multinational US base firm.
I am 26 stayed in and out of trouble through life tried pharmacy tech and Cna something came to me to start medical coding I feel that I am ready. 💕💕💕💕
Email me at CodeMasterCoach@gmail.com for information on my Medical Coding Program.
Yes. There are companies looking for PRN and part-time help, especially when they are backlogged.
Omg this is exactly what I want. I'm so excited to start school 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Hi Mam,
Your classes are very helpful for my exams.Thank u.
.I have seen an advertisement regarding medical coding vacancies in Switzerland for AAPC/AHIMA certified candidates.
Ma'am,
Thanks for this video.
Please how one become a medical coder?
you look pretty good for what college 40 years ago, also im 62 in the same boat only just getting started!
Thank you Katherine Gordon.
Thank you very much for this excellent video.
You're welcome Step Catharsis.
I’m NCMA and am really thinking of changing over to Medical Coding and billing. I’m still weighing my options.
And you are such a beautiful woman.... Flawless!!!
Thank you so much mika b-w.
Thank you for this video do you know of any grants for single moms or women over 40 or any grants at all for this field?
Is there any possibility that AI can take over medical coding?
thanks for sharing
Thank you. God bless
Thank you. I agree there is a lot of sitting. I purchased a stand up desk and love it!
I'm studying to take me CCA exam graduated 2 years ago.
I need some guidance. I wish I could speak with you. I'm feeling discouraged and feel like my dream of being a coder no matter how far I've come in preparation, that it's further and further away. 😢
You're awesome. Thanks so much for the info!
Thank you mtngirl.
Great content! Any suggestions for an RN looking for change after 20 years bedside nursing? Thank you!
Sure DA Bears. Email me at CodeMasterCoach@gmail.com and I will gladly share my medical coding program with you.
Nice lady thanks for ur videos
You are so welcome Victor H Lopez.
Thank you for this video!
You are so welcome Emily Richardson.
I am so ready to be done with 95% of my day being on the phone transferred from one department to the other Lol.
heart2heart2023, email me at CodeMasterCoach@gmail.com so that I can share my Medical Coding Program with you.
Thank you 🙏🏾 so much for sharing this.
You're welcome Ask Shaneequa.
i have been curious about medical coding because i schedule surgeries for doctor at a hospital and want to know how to incorporate that skill into my medical background now
Thank you for this video. I'm a Surgical Technologist for 11 years now. 2 years of Nursing Assistance prior to that and I'm very interested in changing careers. Medical Coding has always interested me. I look forward to watching your other video, you're giving me hope!
Do you think that someone with avoidant personality disorder can do this job from home? It requiere communication skills?
Utah but also India and Dubai. Advice? Is there any medical coding that cannot be outsourced offshore? How do you get job security and good wages living in the USA?
I am in an online class getting by just to pass but I picked this class to try out something different besides being a caregiver.
Great video. I'm starting my MC course in a few weeks, do you have any material I should read to get ready?
Is medical coding a good career to switch from for someone with an accounting background?
Awesome!
Thank you.
Take the class, I am 2 years older than you. I took her class and now have a job working for a Chiropractor. She is a great teacher.
Malia Ferrozzo, I'm assuming that is a 2-year Associate Degree Program and not a Medical Coding Program?
@@codemastercoach6636 yes on their website it says: "Associate in Applied Science - Medical Office Billing & Coding Specialist"
Description:
This program prepares individuals for employment in medical offices as medical office receptionists, coders and insurance billers. Positions are available in medical clinics, medical insurance companies and private physicians’ offices.
I was certified this year and working on practicode now. If I am able to work, it would only be for part time work. Is it feasible to find part time medical coding jobs?
It sure is Lori Shenk. Google "Remote Medical Coding" and see what you find. I think you will be amazed.
I passed my cpc exam..how to start searching...plz suggest
Congratulations!! You should land an oppurtunity in no time! I am a huge fan of Indeed job search. Under the experience option on indeed, you can choose entry level or search medical coding no exerience required then just start applying. Even for the ones you don't feel you qualify, apply! I reside in North Carolina but currently work for a company in California I found on Indeed. Best wishes!
Love the way you explain can i be personally helped by you please mam as I'm a widow a single parent

@@codemastercoach6636 Good morning, my name is Victoria and I am interested in your coaching classes to become a medical coder. How do I sign up.

Can you teach me medical billing and coding or tell me where I can get training and certified?
LB, email me at CodeMasterCoach@gmail.com. I have a class starting January 3, 2023.
Thank you for your videos. Would you recommend Medical Coding for a 50 year old woman who wants to do something new?
Yes I would Monica Luce. I was 54 when I accepted my last coding job.
Is it better than medical office specialist
Can you work remotely from places like South American and South East Asia?
I've been a Massage Therapist for 20yrs here in the states but looking to switch careers in the near future.
Is there medical coding in the Spa industry?
J.D. Vision, I don't see why you can't code remotely from other countries. I do know companies have to get licensure to be able to allow access but it is possible. As for the Spa industry, is there a physician involved? If so, then yes but if not, then no.
My wife is a travel nurse and I'm thinking about doing this so I can travel with her and not have to find a new job every where we're go
Excellent idea Byron Wadsworth! Land one job that you can do remotely and work from anywhere.
Out of curiosity, have you ever ran across any companies open to their coders working out of the country? I do a lot of travel back and forth between NV and Jamaica. I'm getting ready to take my exam in a few months 🙏🏿
It's extremely encouraging to see so many more medical coding channels with a real life experience. Thank you so much ❤️.
I was wondering the same thing also. I was wondering if I would be able to work abroad out the country if I go on vacation.
wondering the same thing, I am a US citizen currently living outside the US but would like to become a medical coder. I don't want to pay for school and do everything to find out I can't work outside the US.
@@sunflowerkid6305 that's awesome! What kind of work have you found so far to earn a living while being abroad?
@@vonnieg I have a background in art, so photography and graphic design have been my main source of income in the recent years, but too much competition now and looking for a change
@@sunflowerkid6305 that's cool!! I can understand what you mean about too much competition there. Quite a few areas of work are over-saturated unfortunately. I think you're on the right path with medical coding. Medical anything at this point is a good choice. That's one field that's constant for sure!!
Is this a 40 hour a week job with set hours, or more of a you have to do so many charts and then you're done for the day?
It depends on where you work. Most coding jobs are a 40 hour a week job. However, if you have a productivity requirement, you can do both. In other words, if I know I am required to complete a number of charts per hour and I meet my quota before the 8 hours a day is up, I still claim my 8 hours a day since I met my quota.
Is it possible , that I learn medical billing from you & start working remotely with you? Would you help?
Do they require you to get any of these new vaccinations ?
Just aquick question..what will be the effect of Artificail intelligence to the medical coding field?
Good question Busajja Moses. There is something called Computer Assisted Coding (CAC), but there still needs to be some tangibility to the medical coding, which causes CAC to still need the human touch.
I’ve completed my medical coding class but didn’t pass the certification test in 2019. Do I have a chance to revamp my skills? I have a Masters in Business Administration.
What certification did you take? I recently graduated w/ my associates in April and im nervous about taking the exam
Don't give up Angela G M. Dive back in and try again.
@@aaliyahhayward7144 I’m taking my CPC exam the second time. I felt medical term and anatomy was important but we had some “short classes” about those courses. I know I would need to purchase new books and I don’t mind. I want to retire in my first job in two years and I want Medical Coding to be my job for life...I want to travel and take my job wherever I go.
so anybody can work at home being a medical coder? Im in retail and ready to switch fields. Will a certification's also be considered for employment? I see thousands of jobs for work from home medical coding. Thanks so much
Most employers want "certified" coders. So, make sure to get your certification.
Can I interview you for school? I have to interview 3 people in coding and billing and it’s 9 questions total
I would like to become a HCC Coder. Just not sure how to get started or become an ED Coder which my hospital hires a lot
Clara B. Kaff, are you a certified coder yet?
@@codemastercoach6636 no I’m CPC program now
How do you apply for these jobs? So you go to Networks? Or private providers
So how many codes one has to go through is it very much hectic and pressurised job ?
I passed my CPC exam in September month looking for a coding job. Please let me know if there any jobs
Can medical coders work PRN when they want to ?
They sure can @ambitiousbeauty1013. Lots of employers just need help when they are backlogged and PRN help is the answer for that.
Am I a medical coder is there any job possibility in UK
I thought you had to be at one location due to HIPAA because they want you connecting to unsecure networks because of patients information.
