I'm so glad that you cleared in the beginning that medical billers don't have to deal with patients, I've been working in customer service for 18 yrs and desperately need to get out and find a job where I don't have to deal with people anymore, which is why I'm here 😊
As a medical biller, I just wanted to let you know that it depends on where you work if you will or will not have to deal with patients. I've always worked in the Healthcare Provider's office and have always had to deal with patients. I think maybe working in hospitals or bigger organizations, you may not have to deal with patients as Victoria stated.
Me to bro working as a sales agent is like the worst job out there. Sure the pay is good but the amount of stress is just insane

I was a dental hygienist for 27 years, retired out. I think I may like this. I'm not as hands on anymore.

Also Medical Coders tend to make alot more money than Medical Billers.

Hi, I recently landed a job position as a medical collections specialist and I am currently applying to take my CPB Exam soon. My position doesn't ask my coding much since I often just pay attention to the billing cycle more. I realize that there are alot of information to learn and it's quite a headache. But its a career path I want to take since I already had an interest in healthcare finances but also coding/billing as well.
Congratulations on landing your position as a medical collections specialist and pursuing your CPB exam-that’s an exciting step forward! It’s normal to feel overwhelmed with all the information at first, but your interest in healthcare finances and coding will keep you motivated. Take it one step at a time, and don’t hesitate to build on your experience in billing as you grow into the coding.
How do you get started as in to work as a medical billing and coding worker from home while you're studying for it without having to need a one or 3 to 5 year experience as a demand I mean, everybody has to start somewhere from the beginning that everybody starts with experience You get your experience as you're working and you're learning!! what would you recommend where to start from working from home?
I feel like i will be fine on the coding part as i see my co workers literally just searching the codes. But im gonna have trouble with the billing part cuz i have no clue how insurance work.
I just finished the coding master class and it was helpful but i do have some questions that i hope you or someone else can answer.
Since the Preppy course is billing and coding is it enough to prepare and get you ready for the AAPC CPC exam, does it get in depth like other CPC only programs? If i want to get a job a coder only, not biller, is Preppy a good choice or another program that only focuses on CPC?
I see many Pro Fee Coding jobs now. Is this a more complicated area or should CPC-A still apply? I've been reading up on it and it seems to just focus on the physician E&M codes.

Do you have any advice for newly Certified Billers? I've applied to over a 100 jobs and still am not getting the opportunity to gain work experience in billing or as a Medical Receptionist. What can I do differently to improve my chances of being seen by employers? I tried reaching out to friends who are in healthcare field as a way of getting my foot in the door, but still no luck. I am hitting a wall and have no idea what to try to get my opportunity in this industry, which I've been trying so hard to get into the field, but with no results. It seems as though I am overlooked because of my lack of experience, which I can't gain if I am not hired.
There are a lot of job opportunities posted on Indeed as far as medical receptionists, or medical customer service representatives, to get your foot in the door. Have a good resumé and even walking into a medical clinic or any type of medical practice with your resumé and handing it to the office manager is the sometimes your best bet. Hi Victoria! I've been an LPN for the last fifteen years and am currently in my last semester in a tech college Medical Coding Specialist program. I have a B+ average in school but I feel like I will suck at this job in the beginning. I know there are productivity and accuracy parameters and I am feeling massive anxiety. Do most jobs have a training period or will I be expected to be error free right away?

How recognized is NWCA exam for mbmc that preppy offers ?
The Preppy program also prepares you for the CPC, and I would advise you to take the CPC exam.
