Ran into Sammy and his wife in his bar in Mill Valley. It was the last night of our American holiday before we came home to Australia. I was nearly in tears after following him for 30 years. I apologised for interrupting their night and he said, "Don't be sorry!" and gave me a huge hug. We did shots of his Mesquila, talked music for half an hour and he asked my son a lot of questions about school and music. Best night of my life! I'm a 47 year old man and he gives me chills every time I hear him sing.
There's a clip on RUclips of Sammy getting pissed off defending Michael from criticism from Eddie Van Halen. He gives Mikey really high praise and gets so worked up he ends the interview.
Gaddddaammmit! 72 years old - still got his finger dexterity, (most of) his vocal range, all his hair, still ROCKIN' in a power band -- I gotta put tequila in my diet more often.
Just a good guy ole SH. Doesn't want to spend his later years mad or angry and I find the way he treats people a lesson for us all. Go get 'em Sammy until your 90 dude!
Some rockers in the later years you can tell they're just going through the motions and doing it only for the money, but not these guys, HELL NO! You can tell there's nothing they enjoy more than tearing it up for an audience and they all give 110% every performance, especially Michael and Sammy!
I've seen this intro live 3 years ago... in St.Lou, and 10 other concerts he's performed, along with VH. There is ONLY ONE WAY TO ROCK!! Thanks Sammy Hagar! 💓 ya man!
The moment when the dude resets the mic so both him and Mike can sing... that's what being in a band is. Mikes face was pure ... "you got my back". And he was right...
Taking nothing from Sammy, McCartney was in the game belting rock a decade ahead of Sammy. And he ripped every bit as hard with songs like Helter Skelter, Oh Darling, etc.
Been going to see Sammy Hagar since eighth grade I've only missed a couple shows and I'm 58 years old. Sorry I'm at Pala casino Southern California saw him surf City USA Huntington Beach California on the beach Sammy and Friends on his birthday.
Ahh, love Sammy. Saw the Red Rocker in concert ages ago. He jumped up and down off huge speakers on stage like he was a mtn goat, lol. Excellent concert then n now. Thx Sammy
Neither does Michael and he didn't throw Sammy under the bus when he did, in fact they remained close friends, and that pisses Eddie off to no end. Sammy had a great career before VH and still does long after VH, Eddie can shove it!
The Van Halens' realy fked them selves by letting Sammy go. Look at what the Van Halens' are doing now...nothing yet Sammy continues to be a true rocker. Sammy totaly surpassed anything DLR did for Van Halen. Its too bad that Eddies ego is so enormous. Van Halen today with Sammy leading would be more than stupendous.
Unlike Dave lee Hasbeen he can actually sing , true rock legend. Why they chose him over DLR is beyond me - the live in tokyo disaster finished off vh fer me - utter shit
Yep. Live right here right now version is the best. Live without a net is really good too but it’s neck and neck. Eddie’s playing over it added so much to the song
Brother sounds better than EGO VAN HALEN .....the entire band does ..........always liked Sammy damn shame the person filming had a stiff neck and would focus on the entire stage .......
At last, someone with a clue. It's just one big advertisement to buy all Sammy's shit at this point. He's like Gene Simmons, but without all the asshole.
@@seaturtledog Yes...they were good but I was never a fan of VH. Especially with DLR. But, that being said. VH was a much rougher and raw with DLR. Which to me was a good thing.
I saw the last VH tour and it was sad. DLR sounded like a 90 year old that didn’t know his name. This is much better AND it’s a Sammy Hagar song. This is still a 5/10 though
covertyankee I’m not a 14 year old keyboard commando. I’m well aware of Michael Anthony and his talents. I saw both of them in concert in the 70’s. I was mainly referring to this song. Being a fan of Sammy Hagar since his Montrose days, and even more so during his solo period, I don’t think Michael complimented this song in the least. I actually like Michael, I just don’t think he does well on anything from Sammy’s solo work, at least not as backup vocal. It’s simply a matter of taste and opinion. When it was announced that he was joining them, I yelled “NO! But then when they released the first single, I was proven wrong.

that is awsome , I would have been in tears also....Next to rush he is my favorite singer....or being tied....
Sammy is a class act. One of the coolest guys out there.
Great story! 👊
Must be nice to live in Marin County
I think Michael Anthony's voice could literally blend perfectly harmonically with anybody who can hold a note. One of them rare dudes man.
He can make any lead singer sound good. Not to say Sammy doesn’t sound good. But Mike adds that touch.
72 years old. Well 70 of time at taping, but Christ man WTF!! God bless him. He is a true master
Sammy never gets enough respect...class act.
He gets it from everyone that matters
Van Halen don't realise that Michael Anthony was as important as eddie in that band, the secret ingredient to that magical formula.
As important as EVH ? What ?

Sammy seems like such a genuine guy. I hear these comments all the time, and they seem to be borne out by the man himself.
Sammy bleeds rock and roll.
The man doesn’t seem to age. God bless Sammy, Vic, Jason and Mad Mikey!!
His voice is still top notch.
who's certainly not sammy or alex time to maybe sit on a beach
Same age demographic as Coverdale, jagger,McCartney, wood,Richards, twice the energy
one quarter the brains

He's such a badass and a genuine dude too. The band is awesome! Deep catalog of great tunes to play as well.

Collective Soul opened up for them. Was a great night
I was waiting for Sammy to sing "It's a fact, New Halen knows that it's true".......
Can’t beat a black Flying V
Sammy playin a 2016 GIBSON FLYING 'V' Traditional and it is BAD-A$$ ! interesting choice......
I remember the Red Explorer days.
Is Vic Johnson playing a Peavey Wolfgang?
sammy hagar the ultimate rocker
DAMN I wish I had been there!!! Awesome live!
Anthony and that platinum voice of his.
They should preserve it when he shuffles off on the big vacation and put it in the Smithsonian.
Hagar was always better on his own
And now this band ? Lord what talent
Nice, the guitarist is playing an EVH Wolfgang
Can't take to this guy to 80's for me.
My very first rock concert Kiss and Montrose, Feb. 23rd 1976. Sammy stole the show. Get on your bad motor scooter and ride.

I bet you listened to ton of Van Halen after October 6th 2020 though………
Too bad manager Ray Danniels ruined the Sammy Hagar lineup of Van Halen.
The best I seen this song was with the van Halen brothers
And it also was the best song VH ever did on stage with Hagar. Eddie and Sammy both jamming on guitar.
