There's a lot of negativity out here...but not from real musicians. I've been playing for 45 years, and find KWS knowledgable and sharing with his knowledge, not to mention incredible in concert. He's the real thing, not a clone...he's completely his own person, and he knows tone. When you've achieved 1/10th of what he has, you're going to realize how petty that negativity is.
I HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME RIG! Except for the dumble amp, the two fender amps, the pedalboard and a couple of strats, I 'm almost there!
cables - I have some cables...
Rebecca is still the best interviewer Premiere has ever had. She asks the questions, knows her stuff, let’s the person answer and doesn’t “fanboy” or try to overstep like all the others
Now this is a Rig Rundown!! Talk all the shit you want but KWS is the real deal & he knows his shit about tone! All you punk ass kids who want 20 min of programmed pop stars who can't even explain their rigs so they get their techs to do it need to listen, this is how you get real honest to God T-O-N-E-! Can't believe all the hate on here,I.m.o, this is one of the best rundowns i've seen,& i think i've seen them all.
I feel that Jerry Cantrell knows what he's talking about. wish there was more time on his vid though
Yeah thats true there are a ton of wannabes out there for sure,& alot of smart assed morons who read way too much into the comments!
I saw him play in Santa Barbara. A Jimi Hendrix tribute. He blew every other guitar player away. Maybe the best I ever saw. If you get a chance go see him live
I agree..saw him last night, best concert I've ever seen.
I've seen Kenny many times with the Experience Hendrix tours and every time he brings down the house. He is a tremendous player! Very special to see live.
I havent heard ANY of these rig rundown shows that were nearly as informative. He talks about Dumble, Hand wired gear, shows HOW he gets his tone.. Most of the other interviews just say "Yea, thats my amp and pedal".. and using a 15 watt amp in an arena.. WOW! Line 6 wireless? thats awesome! I paid gobs of money for Shure, UHF, even Nady. Line 6 would already have been my next choice, now its confirmed. This is definatley one of the best rig rundown's I've seen yet.
Doesn't matter weather I like him or not, what I think of his music and all.
Line 6 G50/G90 (Exact same thing, except one is a rack mount) are great. Haven't needed anything else myself and seeing world touring dudes not needing anything else either helps haha
Ken Rowe Me
What's not to like. He's a killer blues player I saw him live a few months ago and he was by far one of the best guitar players I've ever seen live and I've seen McLaughlin, Malmsteen, Steve Vai, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes and many more. Trust me he's good an original. He puts his own touch and spin on everything he plays.
check out soundgardens rig rundown
One of the best Rig Rundowns! Kenny knows his stuff and is able to explain everything so you can understand it. He is enthusiastic, does not seem rushed and demoed his pedals and the sound that he gets from each.
Boy are there some stupid comments here. This is one of the best rig rundown I've seen he not only did it himself no guitar tech he tells you why and shows you how he uses what he does.and for all the shit talker on here you not real guitar players or you wouldn't talk like that. every player is looking for tones they want.if you don;t like what he does you have no need to watch this.
In my opinion it just may be the greatest rig rundown ever done.
This is an awesome rig rundown. Kenny actually demonstrates what the pedals sound like and how he uses them. He knows his shit and explains everything in great detail. On most rig rundown episodes, the artist doesn't demonstrate what the amps or the pedals sound like..and even worse, they have the guitar tech guy do it for them.
He has great phasing/sound/band, he seems happy playing the music he loves without concern of following trends. Good luck to KWS & Band...
I came here after watching your kws video! lol
Ha! This is a great RR...&.where will this video lead you?!...the wonders of You Tube!;-)
Mike Brookfield lol. that's true. I liked that video you did on his playing.
He is carrying the blue's torch for many of us..I have been listening to his music for many many years and his skills keeps growing .Great player and Singer in my book!
He sings now?
He sang on The Place Your In, but other than that it is mainly Noah Hunt
Dudes an old man in a young mans body. Hands down the best rig rundown to date. What a cool cat!
I think it's pretty cool when the artist shows his stuff himself rather than the roadies (sorry guys, you are all great but still nicer with the artist closer to the crowd)
Well that sounds really cool we came across a new way to serve music we'd like to hear everybody's opinion call Roger and I started this about 3 years ago got some good people working with me they gave me an opportunity I think we're coming together pretty good I enjoy the music I select pick out or even accept from the fans I'm glad people are listening we got a lot of things we can do and I got a great outfit to work with thank you RUclips
@@rogerhinkley3718 what are you talking about?
People been hating on Kenny for a long long time, nothing new in that. The fact that he tours pretty much non stop playing to thousands and thousands of people, hundreds of thousands i am sure by now have enjoyed his live performances.
He dont give two fucks about what all you losers think, why would he. Hes good looking, plays with shitload of passion and soul, people like BB king and Buddy Guy dont play with pretenders, and they dont care about race or age, they care if a cat can play, and Kenny can play, his 20 yr career is a testament to that. When he first broke people said he would be gone in a year or two, one hit wonder, etc etc... well hes still playing looks healthy and happy, more power to him.
Haters keep hating, its what you do best.
Pretty rad. Just finding out about him in 2021. Hell of a player.
Kenny Keep Talking Keep Walking and Dont Stop Playing!
One of the most in-depth rundowns. Love it. Thank you Kenny and Premier Guitar :)
Excellent rig rundown. Very comprehensive. Thanks, I enjoyed every second.
Excellent pedalboard description and explaination. Thanks PG and KWS
Thanks to Premier Guitar and more especially to Mr. Shepard for this rundown. KWS, thanks man for explaining in such detail. Truly a help to the less knowledgeable such as myself.
Kenny Wayne Shepherd is a great guitar player!! Keep jammin' my Brother!!!! Keep the blues alive!!!!
Right!
But somehow it's amazing how much patience Rebecca has!
Thanks to Mr Shepherd, this was the best rig rundown I have ever heard, he explained ever piece of gear in detail and in plain English. Ms. Dirks also did a fine interview, asking good questions, in the right places, well done.
Very cool Rig Rundown...love KWS!!
Now that is an in depth rig rundown! Thanks!
Absolutely the BEST rig rundown I've had the pleasure to hear and see (and, yes, in that last part, I'm referring to Rebecca). She's a doll!
Great rig rundown..... impressed!
Awesome Rundown!!! In my top 5 Favs!!!
+Zakk Swayze shit yeah, he knows what people want to hear.
Rebecca is smoking !!!!!
Can anyone be a little respectful about this great guitar player? maybe he used to sound just as SRV, but... he´s still on the road, playing his own music... sounds so jelaous! anyone here´s a guitar player?
I am
Me too. I'm a sub-ham-and-egger playing lead in a classic rock cover band.
He sounded similar maybe, but one thing's missing for ANYONE to sound just like SRV is Stevie himself. 85% of the tone is in the artist's hands.
Ya I am
Ive been playing 40 years..I like his sound and style, very similar to mine.....His new Chicago Live CD is very good...Adios from Memphis
Thanks for sharing this document !
Blazing licks!! Prob the most in depth RR ive caught
loved the detail rundown, thanks PG.
one of the best interviews on Rig Rundown... KWS is very good in the interview
Now thats passion. He loves what he is doing and does it well.
best rig rundown so far really liked how he demo everything very cool very nice guy !!
Awesome rig rundown! All demos should be done this way.
Kenny comes across as a really humble guy.
Yep. I never ran in to him around Shreveport but I'd have loved to!
Best run down thanks
This helps me out tons for my future blues career
Though this video is old, I just saw it as a recommendation after watching the Sweetwater video. Pretty cool to see Martha Jr. before all the patina.
Kenny your awesome sharing all that technical info with us guitar slingers interview by premier guitar right on Jessica hope I got it right
Wow, great video. THANKS!!!!
As always thanks for the tips and tricks...Kenny obviously has an incredible ear for sound thanks for the details!!!!
Excellent video.
You nailed it!
What a great Rig Rundown, so much knowledge about all his guitars, amps, and pedals. He is a great player and singer. I like the respect she showed to Rebecca, a real gentleman with class. Thank you.
I don't like KWS music but I'm a guitarist and can tell this man is a TRUE professional and a protectionist. This is this man's passion!
Why are you here, with negativity? KWS is the best guitar player ever..seen him live..great band too! KWS has it all, personality, looks, talent! He's famous, you're not.
"And this is another Strat..."
On of the best rigdowns!!
AWSOME VID !!!!
Clearly one of the best rig rundowns on you tube. First of all the interviewer never gets in the way. Why should you when you have someone like KWS, who is clearly knowledgeable and well spoken about every aspect of his gear. He’s really a great spokesman.
waited for this!
I saw this guy in '97 on the 2nd G3 tour and he has progressed significantly based on this Rig Rundown episode; I don't think anyone can surpass his ability. K.W.S. is so articulate and on point that Rebecca Dirks (Gosh, she is soooo fuckin' beautiful!!!) barely had to ask any questions. I swear I saw Ms. Dirks' "bedroom eyes" directed at this guitar god a coupla' times...and who could blame her?
Man I love Kenny. He's just a genuinely cool, down-to-earth guy. Wish he would come home. He just left Cali so there's a chance. Not sure where they moved but I'm hoping it's either here or somewhere close.
I've tried pearloid picks but don't like the feel. I like the regular ole tortex purple so I can sculpt the tip to my liking and I'm good.
Awesome thanks
Man i realize some people on youtube will flame any video just for the hell of it but for you guys out there who are ragging on this dude for talking to much about his rig well last I looked this is a rig rundown so do the world a favor and stfu. If you have looked at other rig rundowns you will see that kenny is one of the only guys that doesnt have his guitar tech do it. He knows his shit and he is a mean blues player to boot.
Best rig rundown ever!
I've watched a lot of rig rundowns and this is by far the best one yet. I found it so informative and inspirational. Too many crybabies in the comments section. Basically every guitar player in the last 40-50 years has "ripped off" the guys that came before him…mainly because they were inspired by Chuck Berry, Albert King, Bo Diddley, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters (where did the name "Rolling Stones" come from again?), or whoever else you want to name. None of you people could hold a candle to KWS.
And yes, for those of us who really love blues music, he's one of a very small few that are carrying the torch these days. Great stuff!
It is a good rundown, but watch the Rob Zombie and Steve Stevens rundowns as well. Great stuff.
What is the name of the material, or if they are premade, what is the name of his pedal BOARD called? Like the actually board itself?
Cool dude, awesome artist and player. Real deal.
This was a great video. Rock-n-roll is all derivative - so let us not start talking falsely now - the hour is getting late. Check out Sister Rosetta Tharpe to see a female gospel singer and guitar player who influenced Chuck Berry, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley - she was asked what she thought of rock-n-roll in the 1950's and she said she had been playing that music for 20 years - it's just fast rhythm and blues.
YES, ANOTHER RIG RUNDOWN!!
Totally agree! Well said.
I have no idea how the king of tone is such a great amazing pedal. I own both it and the klon centaur, and the KoT honestly comes really close to matching it.
RESPECT !!
Rebecca Dirks face is priceless at 41:00 as Kenny describes cable length.
That wah sounds amazing!
It's just the wah sound I was looking for. Shame its so damn expensive.
OHHH YEAHHH!!!!!! That would be SICK
Kenny Wayne has great tone. Analog Mike rocks. I love this pedal selection. The Fender amps sound way better than I would have ever imagined. Love the George L's.
Everything about this is setup is excellent. And simple! Gotta get one of those Octavias. So sweet.
Rock on Kenny Wayne!!
Love Kenny Wayne he’s not one of these snobbby guys that sends a roadie out to tell you about the gear
I think that its uber cool that he knows all that stuff about his rig. Its not just up to his tech.
“Don't know what it's called. I just know the sound it makes…when it takes a man's life.” - Four Leaf Tayback
He's on my list of best stunt players that ever lived, he's got a brutal attack when he cuts loose.
I think Kenny just loves and is passionate about his gear, not his own voice.
I'd like to have a rundown of Rebecca's rig!
I was thinking the same thing; no doubt
Steven S. BakKalalaLLLl
This is exactly why she quit premier guitar, you perverts making these sick jokes!
Steven S. Baker yes!! Rebecca Dirks, little rig , really works!!!
Is this a t-shirt ad? Sorry Kenny, shame on you premier guitar, lol distracted, yea.
I saw Kenny back when he was THE monster, he weighed about 90lbs and looked like hell but it was one of the best show's I have seen. Killed the Monterey pop festival Hendrix strat and ripped it up. Since then I have seen him and it's just not the same.
Awesome video..and what tone! KWS the best man :)
I think he confused the sides of the King of Tone. The factory settings (that he said in a different rig rundown that he didn’t change) are the other way around- right side high gain, left side boost/clean
"When I was fifteen I was hanging out with Billy Gibbons" I love how casual he says that...oh you know, just chilling with one of the biggest blues guitarists of all time and he just kinda drew on my guitar...nothing unusual!
Used to see Kenny Wayne around town all the time back then, too. He was always playing at some venue here in Shreveport. Wish he would come back and do a Hometown Tour and do a bunch of local venues here when we're able to again. That'd be amazing!
THATS A DOUBLE COIL ON YOUR RESENATOR THERE KENNY
I miss Rebecca, she always asked intelligent questions and she is damn cute too
I could sit and watch Rig Rundowns literally all day. Love it. I'm dying for a Coheed & Cambria Rig Rundown....sometime this summer maybe?
Good influence!
Thanks it may be old but it's a ton of Knowledge !!
I could watch this sort of thing all day long. How refreshing to listen to an artist who knows (and is willing to talk about) every aspect of his rig.
KWS is a great guitare player. Love it
Very cool story
Kenney Wayne Sheperd and Joe Bonamassa are sooo cool and so humble and nice that I can't believe it!
Great musician.
one badass player !!!
Surprised he doesn't have signature cables! Dudes got it made, Signature everything! Pretty cool though. Love the Analogman pedals.
Can't thank KWS enough for giving a personal rig tour. My humble suggestion for a tone freak like him is to burn that tuner pedal, replace the slot with a BBE Sonic Stomp pedal and add a true bypass kill switch. I always like how professional the interviewer gal is.
No doubt!!!
I heart Rebecca Dirks.
Yup!
you can see that Kenny is VERY excited to be able to talk about his equipment.
Luv K's reference to Seattle and Hendrix...Bring it Back to Seattle and the Gorge Kenny...ur Buddy Dave in Renton WA :) Cheers Bro
A pro guitarist who actually plays his signature guitars.
Hell yes!!!
If you guys arent interested in hearing about his gear, then don't watch the video. It is called "Rig Rundown" for a reason.
