Jacob Evarts - Uncle Bean's Perilous Potato Pirates was by far the winner for me, and it didn’t even get a podium or honorable mention.😢 Good job Jacob.

It was really nice to see Ryan as a judge this time around.. I hope it will continue in future competitions.
Congratulations to all the finalists and winners! 👏

This time especially Ryan more than any of the contests before, it seems for the most part the people you had help choose really prioritized quality of sound over factoring in a good amount of musicality too. But that just makes me wanna ask again, can we please get another game music comp. Makes it a lot more fair for those of us without access to high quality (orchestra) sounds, plus game music is just way more fun lol

I used only free sounds and software for mine and managed to snag an honorable mention, so it can be done. But it is funny how similar all the entries were. Whoever was filtering the submissions for Ryan definitely felt that orchestral scores with woodwind soloists and an oompah rhythm was the “correct” interpretation of the image! So maybe what we need is an image that can be interpreted with a variety of sounds so the orchestral scores and electronic scores end up together. The mushroom ritual image from a few contests ago seemed to accomplish that pretty well.

@@eosborne6495were the people who chose the top 15 different people than these judges? I know Ryan wasn’t a part of the initial judging, but I had assumed these judges also chose the top 15. But that makes more sense to me then why they seemed to feel so differently about many of the of the top 15’s interpretations, if they weren’t involved in choosing the top 15. If that ended up being the case, maybe it could be helpful to have the people who are judging also be the ones who are choosing the top 15? But this is my first experience with this competition, so idk how it all works, and I’m sure there’s a reason they do it whatever way they do! Just proves the point that Seycara made of how subjective music is! And encouraging that it’s possible for people to feel different ways. So interesting to hear different perspectives, and I definitely learned a lot from listening to the feedback! And congrats on your honorable mention!

@@BrandiLynnColonMusic it’s always been Ryan himself choosing the finalists. When he announced this competition he said for the first time he was having his musician friends choose the finalists for him

@@ChronoMune gotchya! I was just asking if these judges were the ones who chose the finalists, or if they were completely different people.

@@BrandiLynnColonMusic oh, by musician friends I’m pretty sure he meant people who aren’t normally part of this at all. ‘Cause he made them sound like strangers to us. So no not these musicians/judges
