Fun fact. One of the reason why Indonesian Diesel is cheap is because they can use processed palm oil as substitute. Literally gas from plants. Its used around 40%, but in the future there might be possible to increase this up to 100%
The irony is Both Indonesia and Australia are top exporters of Palm oil and Natural Gas respectively. But both are in short supply of these resources bc recently export prices are much more alluring than domestic prices.
There's also the issue of distributors (who have power obviously, either in government or military) stockpiling cooking oil from factories and not selling it.

Expensive works (buy seeds, fertilizers) and cant sell high enough because of those evil distributors. Thats why its actually hard to say that Indonesia is a agriculture country, because our farmers are in bad conditions.
Where do you quote those IDR 17,000 per liter figure for Indonesian cooking oil. I can assure you the price today even back in May was much higher than that. The Indonesian government had stopped export ban, then the price soared again not long after that. Palm oil farmer cannot really enjoy High palm oil prices, because all the gain made by palm oil prices ARE Largely offset by the soaring price of fertilizer (due to Russia invasion to Ukraine, since Gas is one of the component to make fertilizer).
Everything are becoming more expensive on all ASEAN countries. For example, Thailand. Cooking oil normally cost 57 baht but now it’s 68 baht. Just like 1.5 dollar raise up to around 1.9 dollar.
the crisis issue wasn't happened because of Russia-Ukraine conflict. Stock of domestic consumption was reduced because exporters went crazy. Currently, the Indonesian government has opened-closed the export valves to secure domestic consumption stocks.
Excessive export happened because Europe needs cheap oil from Indonesia. Their usual source of oil from Russia and Ukraine is halted due to war, so Europe imports more from Indonesia.
In my opinion, the high price of cooking oil in Indonesia is not the result of the war between Ukraine and Russia, but rather due to distribution and stockpiling problems carried out by several individuals which make prices unstable. So the title of this video is very inappropriate, it can lead to the wrong opinion.
