    This one had a poor QC in subtitle.
    1. The most obvious part is the price of cooking oil. If the price is 0.0012$ per liter we'll be swimming on it, it should be around 1.2$.
    2. The subtitle for the last interview is totally different with what the person is saying. That guy is talking about latest palm oil export temporary ban, in which he responded by something like "The method is extreme, but such method was effective in reducing the price gradually and protecting local customer -- at least for now"

      This news pretty much did a bad job in translating foreign language in general, other than English and Chinese. Just look at their previous news
      I can't help but thinking that they just use Google Translate instead of hiring an actual translator for the respective language

    • @zeroyuki92
      @zeroyuki92 2 года назад +14

      @@rebelwind6474 The second point is definitely not a bad translation, it was translating a coherent speech of a totally different topic. Pretty sure it's a bad QC: The original edit has a few extra stories that were cut for the final version, but the TL remains and got mistakenly switched with the one that made the cut. Or someone sent the wrong txt file. Or basically anything that could be prevented with having a QC.

      @@zeroyuki92 yeah agreed, but that doesn't change the fact that they did a bad job in translating foreign language in general
      Even if they did made a mistake. Isn't it weird that they still did the same fcked up translating a coherent speech into English after releasing like hundreds of news now? Don't you think the translation itself is misleading?

    $0.0012 ? $1 is around 14.000 IDR. If you say 17.300 IDR is the average cost, WHILE the real price is around 25.000 IDR. You don’t have to be great at math to know tat 17.300 is greater than 14.000 which means it’s worth more than $1 per litre.
    Oh it is still VERY CHEAP tho. Yeah, if you live on daily consumption of $10 /meal.
    Food is around $1 for a complete meal in here (carbs+protein+fibres) and our foods are heavily relying on cooking oil. Lots of national dishes are fried or sautéed in oil.
    Now imagine and do the estimation yourself
    And Russia-Ukraine war situation have no direct issues towards us, it is because of the mafia hoarding the oils, which sadly come from the higher ups but nothing new from a corrupted country

      The news is not about common people but small industries. If its regular folks, we have option just to boil or steam our food. But what about small industries selling chips? (In the video showing workers frying tempe). Did they must change to microwave them? Or using Airfryer? Then the electricity cost will soaring. Despite indonesia being one of the biggest Coal exporter, but our power plant are really below standart esp outside java island.

    Should not be. Indonesia is a major exporter of palm oil. The government must tax premium profit to subsidize local consumers.

  • @arthurmorganSUN
    @arthurmorganSUN 2 года назад

    Distributors are corrupting everything. If I'm in charge, I'll threaten to never opening the export route for three whole years if the need is not met. Ukraine/Russia problem would be gone by then, see who will cry and laugh. It's so frustrating, I bet even the farmer didn't rise their price by much. The government is really slow about this, dumb af. We should protect the farmers and guard against the distributors and corporates. If Indonesians' needs are not met, the world can forget for cooking oil export from Indonesia.

    bio fuel goal of b100 of all palm oil is one of the biggest culprit. all it did is guaranteeing palm oil demand. now you got a crisis and your realize you have shot your own foot. we should have sticked through thick and thin with jathropa. it was uneconomical yes but it grew everywhere even in ex coal mining locations... it would be decades long painful bleeding but boy we would've saved our economy and gain surplus today had we stick with it.

    Palm oil.
    If Indonesia is facing a lack of supply of cooking oil, then why are they exporting their palm oil?
    The country has to make sure they are self-sufficient, only then the extra can be exported to bring in revenue for their country.

    • @bang4buck326
      @bang4buck326 2 года назад

      that is exactly the problems.... corrupted powerful individuals refused to sell "domestic" or rather to sell with "export" price. When the government issued the standardized price, they hold the goods (resulting in scarcity in market circulation)... When the price was up again, suddenly you will find abundance of goods in the market...
      2nd problem : although Indonesian has the largest palm oil field, the private companies on this filed , mostly owned by Malaysian entrepreneurs... go figures....
