    I still think this would be a killer clean amp with the gain pretty low and the master turned up until it breaks up! Great video!

      Any review that people say the amp sounds thin, is how you suggest. These amps sound MUCH better with the gain at 7 or higher....and use the volume and tilt control from there. Also to add, personally I don't like the Boost on, in my situation that makes it sound muddy but some do.

    Great video! I just recently got an Origin 20 after lots of researching, this vid helped with my choice and I couldn’t be happier with it so far. This amp just oozes classic Marshall crunch after volume 6 on the master.

    gj on the demo.
    The reason why it gets so much hate is because there's vids out there comparing it to amps that are 5x more expensive, and everyone in the comments is bashing it because it doesn't sounds as good....

    The thing all the demos miss is doin the VH mismatch thing with the cab.
    8 ohm tap into 16 ohm cab-shifts the frequency, gain, feel, and tightens the bottom end up.
    So... There's more tones than just these here

    • @blakemansfield2356
      @blakemansfield2356  4 года назад

      Ken K I mean sure, but that’s a pretty oddball trick and honestly doesn’t change the tone all that significantly. Certainly not going to change what this amp is good at. But a cool trick nonetheless

      @@blakemansfield2356 Cool trick?
      Have you ever ran any Marshall s that way? It not a trick. Actually alot of players did this.
      It's part of the mojo in some classic tones.
      And hugely overlooked.
      Especially with old plexi's.

      Ken: Your comment is most intriguing. I'm planning on getting the Origin 20 Head after a VERY positive experience with the Origin 5 combo.
      I'll be using a 'cab merger' box to run two 8 ohm 4x12's in parallel for a 16 ohm load and I'm really curious as to how it will sound versus one 8 ohm 4x12.

    How much headroom does this amp have? How loud can it get completely clean?

    60% for bedroom training, 20% gigs with band and 20% gigs alone in open places.

    They are no doubt bitchin' sweet amps. But if you would've decreased the gain some at the louder master volume settings, you would've REALLY heard that pair of EL 34's singing or snarling, depending on your finger/pick attack & guitar's volume knob......We're talkin' about cookin' with Crisco ......Daddy cool. Trust me. When will players learn that the more you drive the power tubes, the less gain you need. Ya wanna let that pair of EL 34's SING at the higher volumes, and too much gain in the preamp totally robs them of it. You'll still have all the drive & sustain, yet authenticly warm, I guarantee it.

    • @blakemansfield2356
      @blakemansfield2356  3 года назад +1

      You totally could use that dsl combo as your speaker/cab, but you may need to get a longer speaker cable so that it will reach the origin head. Not sure if it’ll reach. It’ll sound good I’m sure

      @@blakemansfield2356 Thanks for the quick reply. The head connection is on the opposite side but I guess with a 1/4 coupler (female - female) receiving the speaker cable and another cable from the coupler to the origin. I think it should sound good as most marshall cabinets are 2 x 12 celestion 70-80. These speakers get a lot of hate but I personally think they have awesome harmonics and tones. It is a well kept secret from Marshall unless you play death metal, they would saturate and too much would be going on.
