Im aware its clunky and can be very random at times, but I enjoy me some Betrayal at House on the Hill. For my group of friends its the perfect length and weight. Everyone has a good time and its theme is spot on with every scenario. Looking forward to the expansion in October!
My favorite of this genre is Middle-Earth Quest. Of course the Lord of the Rings theme makes me like it that much, but even if you get past that it is a great game!
Shadows over Camelot is definitely my favorite in this category. I never play with the exp so it most definitely fits. Just like your number 1, it was mean't to play this way so I see no reason to exclude it.
I agree. There are not many 1 vs all games out there. But is it a bad thing? I don't think so. What other themes could fit this style of play? ... You could do a Pandemic game. 1 player spreads the virus ... A dungeon game with no generic monsters ... I'm spent!!
bARRY dOUBLET Ant Killer, the game. 1 player takes on the role of ants invading a house. The other players play family members who run around trying to eliminate them all...just an idea =D
TopHatCat Which is funny, because I am in the camp that think that the game, with the new rules, has become much longer and far more boring. It is also funny to me that Nick would talk about how much he loves the new rules and then refers to the game as Gauntlet, because it was the 1.0 rules that were like Gauntlet. The new rules almost discourage the killing of spawn points due to the mini-boss summoning - and killing spawn points was the #1 goal in Gauntlet.
Spazz Fist I'll admit I've only had 1 game of it so far. Notice how I said "a new experience" and not shorter/simpler xD I still don't know exactly what I think/feel about the new rules, but the new stuff it's added I really do like. I also like the idea of not having to track kills/skulls and my group ALWAYS forgot to do it haha. But on the same coin I don't like how the new spawning system works.... so.... Yeah, defo need more play-testing!
TopHatCat Well some people do like the new rules, but there seems to be quite a few of us on the Sodapop forums who think that the new rules are far worse than the original and really slow the game down. But if you like it the way it is, more power to you! But if not, then write me back and I will send you a link to a proposed rule change I have which is a blending of the best from 1.0 with the best from 2.0.
Spazz Fist As I said, I've only played 1 game (and some things aren't very clear I must say...), so really need to play afew more before I can say, but sounds good! I hope they take notice!
Well, to be fair I have not tried Whitechapel. But from what I have heard from people who have played both, they feel that Dracula is the far better one. Also, I do have a knowledge of the mechanics, and they are very similar.
I don't think its fair to definitely declare one superior of the other. Personally I have no interested in playing Fury of Dracula. Seems to fiddly for my taste. On the other hand - as someone who studies history (and playing with other students) - I find Letters From Whitechapel extremely engaging and the theme offers the most immerse experience I've ever had from a game.
Rasmus Helms Letters is okay. I found it somewhat boring and light on theme. Much more of a puzzle than an adventure, but I get why others dig it so much.
Another video in which L7 [OP] is described as "Aliens" - The Board Game
despite the existence of an actual licensed Aliens board game.

dannydoesright I just felt like this was a slippery slope. If that goes in, then why not Dead of Winter? But DoW rarely feels like a one vs. all game.
Totally agree with the list.

surprised not to see ghost stories here.
Drake Depew I thought Ghost Stories was a full co-op, not a one vs. all...
Chris Schrader Black Secret makes it a one vs. all
Drake Depew oh, cool. I'll have to check that out.
I miss this beard so hard.
Wooooohooooo! Super Dungeon Explore! \:D/ So happy.
Cannot agree more that the new rules certainly turn it into a new experience.

No Letters from Whitechapel? :O
Rasmus Helms Fury of Dracula would trump this.
Haven't tried Fury of Dracula, but they seem way to different for one to trump the other.
