The amount of work you put into your videos is astounding! And the brilliance of it is how you mesh humour with characters and still offer a super clear explanation of the core mechanics of each game you are reviewing! I have been binge watching your videos since I discovered your channel. In my opinion you take the number ONE spot in board game reviews!
4:06 The fact that you included this joke so that the 7 people who live in Australia could guffaw just a bit too loud while watching this is why you're a bloody ripper mate. May Jon the ripper be as infamous in a hundred years as that Jack fellow who seems like a lovely bloke.
I really like the sound of Letters from Whitechapel. Great video and well done wearing the Timmy outfit on a bus. That alone should net you a 10,000 subscribers.
+pgtmg624 Yes please! It was the selfie in front of St Paul's Cathedral that had the most onlookers. There's a reason I've never filmed outside before!
I really like videos like this, The genre specific options you give are always some of my favorites and I appreciate the time you take to explain the strengths and weaknesses of each game to help us make well informed gaming choices. Cheers!
I like your reviews. The way you and Shut Up and Sit Down look at games is different than dice tower and gets me to consider games I normally wouldn't.
"Thou shalt not learn... it's in the US Constitution--at least I think it is... I haven't read it." And the "kiddie fiddler..." You're videos are hilarious! I've been considering my Christmas game acquisitions based on your videos. Thanks for your humorous analysis of these games.
Hello. I've been following you since the last few days and I'm really glad I found this channel. I love all your videos, and I really appreciate the effort you put into each and every single one of them. It must be a lot of work putting these scripts together, but please keep them comming. You seem like an amazing guy and I love your sense of humour. I'm a really big fan of this genre, and I recently bought Letters from Whitechapel. Easily one of my favourite board games. Thank you for being amazing.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a nice comment. I really appreciate your positive feedback, it's comments like yours that make me want to keep making videos.
I like your sense of humour, all the different characters you invented and their hilarious banter as well as the many (pop)cultural references you make. In short: I enjoy your videos a great deal!
I just played Letters to Whitechapel for the first time on Table Top Simulator on Steam and it was a lot of fun. I was my first introduction to hidden movement games. I'm considering buying the board game copy. Great Video.
Spector Ops was my first hidden movement game and I have loved playing it. I am hoping to try others you have mentioned soon. Nuns on the Run has me the most intrigued. I think my family would really enjoy it.
Love seeing Great Museum Caper referenced. It's a fun (despite dated) hidden movement game, with a theme that is inoffensive and easily understood by all.
Yeah, I love the theme. In fact, I think I prefer it to all of the themes in this video, except perhaps Nuns on the Run. Rumour has it, Renovation Games will be bringing it back - I hope they bring it up to date and give us a less massive box!
I have to say, i haven't really had much experience with hidden movement games, but the experience i have had with them is pretty entertaining, I recently played my first game of "Escape from Aliens", and it felt just so suspenseful, up until the point i realized I was the only player anywhere 4, and had managed to convince everyone, mainly through some very lucky card drawing, I was on the other side of the whole map. Easily one of my favorite boardgame moments I've ever had. Great video and review, and your comedy is really good! keep up the good work!
Great video, I love hidden movement and I hadn't heard of specter ops before, looks like a ton of fun. Keep up the good work I always enjoy your videos!
I really love your Sherlocks and Frank Justice. So good to see Timmy again! I have been eyeing Whitechapel and Mr Jack for sometime. Thanks for clearing up some mystery... Half. I should be less lazy, but I have enjoyed everything you have recommended so, I trust you more.
Mr Jack is a decent 2 player game, but it's VERY different to Letters from Whitechapel. Mr. Jack doesn't use hidden movement in its truest sense, as seen in these six games. It's a much more puzzly, abstract game.
You are dangerously good at making me want more board games, even when I know I don't have enough time for the games in my collection alone! Thank you for your wonderful content!
Oh no! I posted before knowing about the copy of Letters from Whitechapel! So here I am again... now for the game! (and to say that I love your channel)
Thanks for the video! I've played Scotland Yard (fun but a bit light) and Dracula (way too long for me) and love the idea of hidden movement but haven't found my sweet spot. White Chapel and Specter Ops look like they should be next on my list. Thanks for the give away! Very generous of you :)
I've wanted to try Letters from Whitechapel for awhile now. I don't mind long games and I love the theme. Your videos are great :) very entertaining! Keep up the great work!
Once again great video! Had me laughing the whole time. Spector Ops looks like a blast. My Best friend has been trying to get me to play White Chapel for a couple years now but since we live in different states it makes it difficult.
I really enjoy the production you put into these videos! Keep it up! Also, :-) Letters from Whitechapel would make a nice addition to my small collection! It's a genre I've never player before.
I grew up with Scotland Yard and Clue: The Museum Caper, both of which are largely responsible (along with Sleuth) for my immediate interest in later years, when I heard that board games were in a renaissance. I own Specter Ops and Escape the blah-blah-blah-horrible-name, and I've played Whitechapel once or twice. Specter Ops is by far my favorite. It's just so tense and exhausting. With the 5-player traitor game, the tension is on both sides of the table. Great great game. Thanks for another fantastic video. I always look forward to your next offering.
Excellent video based on this theme. I've been thinking about getting a hidden movement game. I've picked up games based on your previous reviews and have yet to be disappointed. Thanks!
I picked up a copy of Spector Ops a few months back and I really enjoy playing it. I feel like it balances really well between the hunters and the spy. Also playing with one secret traitor on the hunter team mixes things up in a really fun way. Its fun watching the hunters tear each other apart with suspicion trying to figure out which one of them is the traitor.
Actualol that is true. It could use an extra page of just clarification on the rules. Although I realized after playing a game called Warrior Knights that I much prefer underwritten rules to overwritten rules, that game had pages and pages of verbose explanation for no reason and made it hard to keep track of what the actual rules were.
+Stephen Hager Yeah, completely agree. The board for Specter Ops is stunning and the Whitechapel one isn't far behind. The Nuns on the Run board looks very dated in comparison.
Someone somewhere did a comparison between the Whitechapel map and a map of actual Whitechapel at the time and it is spot on! I think the mood set by the Specter board is perfect for the gameplay as is Fury. Nuns and Scotland Yard do seem dated but still enjoyable to look at (I guess I've got a thing for maps/building layouts)! Thanks for the video(s), love the way you showcase games!
Nuns on the Run was actually my first introduction to Hidden Movement games, and is still one of my favorites! Wasn't super impressed with Scotland Yard either, but the one game we've played of Fury of Dracula ended relatively quickly with Dracula being overconfident in battle and being slain. We'll definitely be playing it again!
Appreciate you making a video focused on Hidden Movement games. I've been into modern boardgaming for about a year and I have yet to get a game of this genre.
Love your videos! Hidden movement games are great. My favorite so far have been SpecterOps and Fury of Dracula. At some point I will need to try Letters.
With all of the hubub over Dracula when the new edition came out, it made me start looking into hidden movement. This was an entertaining and informative look into alternatives, since I really don't think Dracula would work with my game group.
I think these are your best jokes yet, so clever and funny. Regarding escape from the Aliens, I've found that using a 'stun' variant for when aliens attack aliens works just fine on larger maps - thus no player elimination! You'd want to use normal rules on smaller maps (e.g. socrates) since the games are much smaller and shorter, and you want to disincentivise attacking wildly.
Thank you for the kind words about the jokes - it makes me very happy. And thank you for the stun variant, that's a really nice idea. What impact does the stun have in your game?
Your jokes and characters are the biggest reason for me to watch when I know I have little interest in the games being reviewed - they're the reason I've happily watched every video of yours; just really entertaining. Regarding the impact of stun in our games, I don't have much to say - it worked as intended, attacking wildly was only a little less disincentivised, but on bigger maps (thus generally longer games) all it really allowed for was for aliens not to be eliminated if attacked by other aliens, which was rare to begin with. Smaller maps was where it didn't work because attacking wildly was so useful with a greatly reduced penalty. But smaller maps for us are much shorter games, so playing with player elimination was fine and kept a nice tension. There are many different ways you can do the variant, (e.g. stun the victim, stun both victim and attacker, or instead of stun teleport the victim to spawn which is thematically a new alien, etc.). Stun = skip 2-5 turns, though 2-3 seemed best to help get back in the action quicker in larger player counts. Hope that wasn't too much text haha. Hope that's useful. I'm intrigued though - has it worked with most of people you've played with, or are they so-so with the game? I love it personally, but most others think it's ok.
Colin Mancini Fury of Dracula is one of those Games Workshop/Fantasy Flight games. And their business arrangement is ending soon, so you might want to try to pick it up sooner rather than later.
I saw an article about a game coming out called Last Friday. It looks very similar to Whitechapel, but skinned like a slasher movie. It looks like the "Jack" role is more aggressive, attacking players, not just running away.
i had just learned Letters From Whitechapel last night. it's brilliantly designed. so easy to learn and to teach. i own Specter Ops and have played Fury of Dracula which are also great games.
Haha "Steak Ta-Ta" got me! I love Spector Ops and Fury of Dracula, but agree Fury is incredibly long! White Chapel has been on my wish list for ages and now I think I’m going to have to add Escape From The Aliens in Outer Space too. I cannot watch one of your videos without it costing me ;)
I've been wanting to get a hidden movement game but couldn't decide what to get. After watching this... I still can't decide. They all look like a lot of fun.
God I love these videos :) Again - funny and educational plus this time it's a topic about a mechanism that really interests me. So far I've only played a czech version of The Scotland Yard (which I like) and one way too long game of Fury of Dracula (which I didn't enjoy - nobody played it before and the guy who read the rules didn't remember much of them correctly). I was so excited when I realized it's The Letters from Whitechapel we can win because it has been on my wishlist for some time but after buying Pandemic Legacy I said no more money for games this year. So thanks for the contest :) Anyway Nuns on the Run will probably end up on my wishlist as well. Never heard of it but it looks super fun. P.S. Your modern-day Sherlock was the best!

OMG the puns in this video are AMAZING! !!
Yes! They were pun-derful !
I think we now know where all the puns from "No Pun Included" have gone to...
Hav very funny, Booth of you.
4:06 The fact that you included this joke so that the 7 people who live in Australia could guffaw just a bit too loud while watching this is why you're a bloody ripper mate. May Jon the ripper be as infamous in a hundred years as that Jack fellow who seems like a lovely bloke.
I'm glad little Timmy showed up again, he's always very entertaining. A great run through and list as always. Well done!!
Your witty banter (with yourself) is hilarious. Keep the videos coming. Oh, and I actually do like the board game content as well.
Tremendous video. Now I want five more games.
I can't believe how you keep dishing out witty and funny videos. I hope you never stop making these. Also whitechapel sounds great!
This is a refreshing change to the geeky reviews I'm used to, it's clear a fair bit of work goes into these.
Fair play, keep up the good work!
I think this was cleverly written and entertaining. A lot of effort going in to making all of these - well done.
I really like videos like this, The genre specific options you give are always some of my favorites and I appreciate the time you take to explain the strengths and weaknesses of each game to help us make well informed gaming choices. Cheers!

Actualol Timmy for president
😁
That kiddie fiddler joke had me in stitches
Going out in public dressed as Timmy must have been interesting 😄
With so many board game reviewers out there, it's really amazing how you manage to stand out. Good work!
Always wanted to try Letters from White Chapel! I love your videos, they must take so much time to create.
+Dennis Luk Yeah, this one took a while. Roughly 10 days :/
Another great presentation. I had not considered a hidden movement game prior to this, but now I am contemplating White Chapel.
I like your sense of humour, all the different characters you invented and their hilarious banter as well as the many (pop)cultural references you make. In short: I enjoy your videos a great deal!
Dear Boss,
thanks for this vid, I'm sure your humor will bring more people into the hobby.
Well made and entertaining as always.

Dying right now at your American (?) accent. "Rat Bastaad" hah, love it.
Love watching your videos in the morning before work.

Seriously man these videos have me laughing the whole time...thank you for the laugh! Also thank you for adding several more games to my "want" list.
+Alex Ponce Thank you for watching and enjoying!
I've wanted to try Letters from Whitechapel for awhile now. I don't mind long games and I love the theme. Your videos are great :) very entertaining! Keep up the great work!
I love these megareviews. Keep up the good work!
Once again great video! Had me laughing the whole time. Spector Ops looks like a blast. My Best friend has been trying to get me to play White Chapel for a couple years now but since we live in different states it makes it difficult.
Love your hilarious take on boardgame reviews. Looking forward to the next one!
This is one of the best channels
Please make videos more often!
I've always thought I would like more hidden movements but I've never known where to look. Thanks for the video!!!
I really enjoy the production you put into these videos! Keep it up!
Also, :-) Letters from Whitechapel would make a nice addition to my small collection! It's a genre I've never player before.

Thanks for sharing! I really want to play Specter Ops again with the traitor, it's certainly a nice twist on the genre.
Awesome video John!! Your opinions on certain games is truly brilliant... love the different characters in this one.
great and fun review! was hoping to see Last Friday in the review but letters from whitechapel is surely on my wish list now!
I come for the games but stay for the writing. Your stuff is so entertaining!
+Ser Capelli Thank you!
Scotland Yard was a family favourite growing up, can't wait to try out some of these newer takes on what feels like an old classic.
Actualol needs to get more attention in my opinion. Board games and humour = great channel
+Watch Videos Thank you! :)
I actually-loled
I like your style of video. It's informative but humorous and entertaining at the same time.
I've always enjoyed Scotland Yard, but now you mention Letters from Whitechapel it sounds so much more awesome!
Loved playing Fury! Whitechapel looks like another great addition to the genre.
Excellent video based on this theme. I've been thinking about getting a hidden movement game. I've picked up games based on your previous reviews and have yet to be disappointed. Thanks!
I'm a fan of Scotland Yard, so it's good to see some more modern takes on the game style to try out. Thanks for the video!

Although I realized after playing a game called Warrior Knights that I much prefer underwritten rules to overwritten rules, that game had pages and pages of verbose explanation for no reason and made it hard to keep track of what the actual rules were.
Is it just me, or are these games extra gorgeous? Letters, Ops, Fury, and even Aliens all might be some of the most visually pleasing games I've seen.
+Stephen Hager Yeah, completely agree. The board for Specter Ops is stunning and the Whitechapel one isn't far behind. The Nuns on the Run board looks very dated in comparison.

thanks for another great video!! My husband was the one who introduced me to them and I am a huge fan.
I'm a huge fan of your husband too, for recommending me! :D
Woo! Great Video! Love the on-location shots :)
Nice selection of games.
Great production as always.
Jack the great in Australian.
Haha. You're legend!
Enjoyable as always. I was expecting a few two player hidden movement games as well.
Great video and topic. I like that you got outside. Definitely going to search these games down.
Loving watching your videos! You are always putting new games on my radar and hurting my wallet...haha! Specter ops looks the best out of all of them
Yes, Letters from Whitechapel! I loved this game!! I bought it for my brother as a birthday gift and I've been wanting my own copy every since.
definitely the mechanic that i never knew i wanted to play... great video as usual!!
Nuns on the Run was actually my first introduction to Hidden Movement games, and is still one of my favorites! Thanks for the review, based on your video I bought letters from whitechapel and I can't wait to play it
"Oh, no ... church!" - LOL
Exactly!
I lol'ed out loud with the rat bastard setup. Good job.
With all of the hubub over Dracula when the new edition came out, it made me start looking into hidden movement. This was an entertaining and informative look into alternatives, since I really don't think Dracula would work with my game group.
Awesome video as always! I've played letters from whitechapple. It's fantastic!
FWIW Scotland Yard is the family hidden movement game, the reveal every eight turns keeps the sprogs in the game. Whitechapel competition entered!
Another awesome video matey! We got Scotland Yard last Christmas. Then shortly after I bought Fury of Dracula. We still haven't played Scotland Yard!
+gazgibbs Haha! Sell it :)

Excited about the contest!
Genius! Please continue to make these kind of videos!
I originally was trying to decide if I wanted Letters or Fury, but now I think I need both.
Colin Mancini Fury of Dracula is one of those Games Workshop/Fantasy Flight games. And their business arrangement is ending soon, so you might want to try to pick it up sooner rather than later.
Location shots!! Sweet! Keep up the great work!
I saw an article about a game coming out called Last Friday. It looks very similar to Whitechapel, but skinned like a slasher movie. It looks like the "Jack" role is more aggressive, attacking players, not just running away.
That's a great line imma bite you. I block with my crucifix. Oh no church
:D
i had just learned Letters From Whitechapel last night. it's brilliantly designed. so easy to learn and to teach. i own Specter Ops and have played Fury of Dracula which are also great games.
really fun to watch, very nice selection of game!
Haha "Steak Ta-Ta" got me! I love Spector Ops and Fury of Dracula, but agree Fury is incredibly long! White Chapel has been on my wish list for ages and now I think I’m going to have to add Escape From The Aliens in Outer Space too. I cannot watch one of your videos without it costing me ;)
Well, at least Escape is the cheapest one!
Great video and greater dialogues "I want to bring someone to(o,) justice". I will check out Nuns on the Run, looks like fun ;-)
I've been wanting to get a hidden movement game but couldn't decide what to get. After watching this... I still can't decide. They all look like a lot of fun.
I've only tried a couple of these. Great video!
I'm late to this, but this is comedy gold! Reaaally good.
I've been meaning to get a Hidden movement game. Thanks for the recommends.
God I love these videos :) Again - funny and educational plus this time it's a topic about a mechanism that really interests me. Thank you! :)
Love your videos, can't wait to see what you make next!
Another great video, Jon. Keep it up!
really makes me want to try these games
Can't wait to try white chaple
This was an excellent compare and contrast of experience. It makes me want to be quiet and recline upon a chair and watch it again.
I have wanted a good hidden movement game for a long time now. I finally have a list of some to get!
My friends and I always have fun with Nuns. On the run. Arms filled to the brim with letters from a lover.
Another great one, jon. Really excited about FoD. Have a copy on order.
Latecomer for the contest! love your sense of humor. Keep them up!
