Thank you so much. This is the first helpful video I've found on the topic. Even the official Herman Miller videos are completely obtuse on this use case.
Just got an aeron myself. Mine is the classic but I was able to figure out that you can still do it in this chair too thanks to your video. I found the default position I was a bit too far back but when it's in the forward tilt I am fully straight up and my back gets the most support. Loving the chair more now. Thanks a lot. None of the videos explained this could be done which is baffling to me. Thanks for the video.
Useful info and well presented....I have been umming and arring whether or not to get an Aeron but after weeks of looking at used ones (older classic) I have finally decided to get a new one .....HM have their Spring sale on at time of writing this (May 2021) ...15% off and it ends in 2 days ....I rang them today and they wouldn't budge on an even lower price (had to try :) ) but I have decided why not....I spend most of my day at the PC in my shed so deserve to treat myself. Have gone for the gaming edition which is exactly the same as a standard one and is fully loaded with the posturfit and fully adjustable arms etc but in a black colour...same price at £900.15 ...normally £1059....alot of dosh but I wont get a better price new and the 12 year warranty will be worth it. Anyway good luck with your channel...have subscribed to get you on your way...you deserve it to succeed.
Thanks for the kind comment, Tom! I actually ended up returning my Aeron, but for a very specific reason (I like firmer thoracic/upper back support). I’m planning to post an Embody vs. Aeron video shortly if you are interested. Both are outstanding chairs. Edit - Embody vs. Aeron comparison up here - ruclips.net/video/iXk8Fjlf5g4/видео.html
wow. that was unintuitive on the aeron's part. i did it with the valuable help of your vid after some blind tinkering, but i'm STILL not sure exactly how
The HM Manual states "Engage forward tilt to support the thighs’ declined posture when performing intensive tasks such as keyboarding." When I had an Aeron, I didn't use forward tilt for extended periods of time (1 hour at a time max), but switched between forward tilt and a neutral seat pan position throughout the day depending on the task.
Personally, I only found forward tilt comfy for an hour at a time, max. As I’ve stated in other videos - “the best position is the next one”. In other words, frequent adjustment == a good thing.
I would say it’s handy to have the option. As someone wiser than me once said, “the best position is the next one” - in other words, keep adjusting to avoid being sat in the same position for long periods.
Hey Anthony - when I go to configure an Aeron for purchase on the UK HM web site, I don't seem to have an option to remove forward tilt. However, I've also read that not all Aerons come with this feature, so I would double check before purchasing.
@@Synnipoe You're supposed to disengage the forward tilt and then lean bac. You should lean back far enough to hear a click from the chair by which then the seat pan should go back to the normal flat position.
Rotate the forward tilt part of knob so it indentation is flat and then lean back and you should hear the chair click which means forward tilt is disabled.
Yeah same here, I was wondering how he did that. If I turn the forward tilt without sitting on the chair, the lever thing just snaps back to normal tilt. I need to sit on the chair first in order to be able to activate the forward tilt.

Great to hear this helped. Thanks for the comment 😊
Just got an Aeron and found this super helpful! I will enjoy my chair much more now thanks to you. Cheers!
Great to hear - thanks for stopping by my channel!!
Thank you so much for this. I have been looking all over the net trying to figure this out and you did it in 2 min. Thanks again mate!!
Fantastic to hear this video helped! I was definitely scratching my head for a bit beforehand 😊

Awesome to hear, Ian! I haven't heard of many folks that use forward tilt as their default position, so very interesting to hear that you are a fan!
how? my classic aeron uses the latch instead of the knob
Very helpful - over a year after you posted...thank you
No problem - thanks for stopping by!
brooooo, I was convinced that part of the knob did nothing, THANK YOU!
Took me a while to figure it out 😄

need this for the classic.
Omg I thought something was wrong with my chair xD thank you!
No problem at all - thanks for stopping by!

Was very useful. Only way I figured it out.😅😂
You just blew my freaking mind, I've been trying to casually google about this for over a year. You are amazing
Thanks so much for letting me know - great to hear that it helped!
You are a hero. Quick question. Is sitting in the forward tilt for a prolonged amount of time potentially bad for you ?
The HM Manual states "Engage forward tilt to support the thighs’ declined posture when performing intensive tasks such as keyboarding." When I had an Aeron, I didn't use forward tilt for extended periods of time (1 hour at a time max), but switched between forward tilt and a neutral seat pan position throughout the day depending on the task.
@@comfytechquest would you feel sitting in forward tilt for long periods of time hurt you ?
Personally, I only found forward tilt comfy for an hour at a time, max. As I’ve stated in other videos - “the best position is the next one”. In other words, frequent adjustment == a good thing.
Is there a way to lean this chair back and lock it back so it stays in position you leaned it in?
Really good instructions, now is it a desirable position for working on a computer?
I would say it’s handy to have the option. As someone wiser than me once said, “the best position is the next one” - in other words, keep adjusting to avoid being sat in the same position for long periods.
Thank you . It helps!!
Great to hear!! Thanks for stopping by.
Useful video thanks :)
very helpful, thanks!
Glad it helped you out!! :)
Do you know how this works for the Classic model please?
Mine is all in one piece as in both functions, and I still can't figure it out.
Useful!! ❤️
Glad you think so!
Question. What headrest do you have ?
The Atlas headrest 😃
Here's the video I've just posted up on the Atlas Headrest for the Embody: ruclips.net/video/IyM4URKK5Sw/видео.html
sadly i have a classic and still can't figure this out. BOO HOO!
Do all the remastered have the forward tilt feature?
Hey Anthony - when I go to configure an Aeron for purchase on the UK HM web site, I don't seem to have an option to remove forward tilt. However, I've also read that not all Aerons come with this feature, so I would double check before purchasing.
how do you unlock the tilt forward though? After it was locked.
did you ever figure this out? I can't get mine to unlock at all, stuck in the forward position

Thank you so much! I'm a legit dummy apparently lol
Haha I don’t think so - it certainly wasn’t obvious to me 😊
how the fuck do you lock the forward tilt without sitting in the chair? ....it does not work that way
