When this movie came out, I was hoping for a sequel followed by a trilogy. Just seeing Will Smith as a superhero had great potential in my eyes..
Funnily enough around the time every movie coming out for sequels and what not but Hancock didn’t. Was so surprised and disappointed
originally there was going to be a sequel where another immortal would be revealed however scheduling conflicts have sidelined it for the time being.
Yeah imagine Kevin hart as a villain and Will Smith slaping the sh it out of him... Wait, I can imagine it a little too well

This is one of few superhero movies that isn’t based off a comic book and ends up being nostalgic af!
Yes, the idea was pretty unique. Fun fact: I've seen the movie at least 10 times by now but the first 3 or 4 times I keep forgetting that she also has super powers until the moment they meet at the house. Usually I can remember the whole plot of almost every movie, even small details. However for some reason with this movie only the iconic "drunk super hero" part got stuck. Though after I got surprised about 3 times, I finally have engraved the plot in my brain. The reveal of her power is like the plot twist within the plot twist. It was simply that unexpected which makes it stand out compared to other movies.

Honestly, Will Smith coming back with a Hancock 2 might "save" his career, or at least jump start it in Hollywood after everything he's been through in recent times. With a mix of a good solid plot and similar comedy as the first one...not a bad idea

Director Peter Berg knows the difference between cartoon violence and the real stuff, and Hancock mixes both to good effect.
But he's less practical
This is SO much better than most other blockbuster superhero movies. It gives me major Hawkman and Hawkgirl vibes, being that he didn't remember his past, and the eagle motif.

I love the friendship between Hancock and Ray. Ray is such a good guy. He so genuinely cares about people, and he was the only person to really _see_ Hancock. The whole situation with Mary was obviously awkward, but she was just trying to figure out how to live her life without him, since every time they were together, she got him hurt, and she just wanted to stop hurting him, so she tried to move on with Ray. With the way that Ray was such a true friend to him, of _course_ it makes sense that Hancock was willing to step back and let them be together. After all, he can't really be with her without someone who hates him coming in like those bad-guys did. He's got more saving to do, and after Ray gets old, and the two of them have had a good life together, maybe she and Hancock can revisit the idea of having a relationship again. After all, they've got an eternity to get around to it.
The story is so unique for a super hero movie, I LOVE it 😅
I never noticed it before, but how they cleverly hard cut to Charlize’s face right after Will said “I’m the only one of my kind”… good stuff.
Great movie the story is so much better than most super hero movies. It was real and hit home. Will is a legendary actor. Jason is hilarious his delivery is top tier. But my favorite part is Jane saying he can find superhero friends in New York. Lol. That was adorable. 😂😂😂

I wish they had made a sequel to the movie, but it's likely never going to happen, as most superhero movies in last 10 years have been both box hits and bombs.

Hancock is neither a DC nor a Marvel character. He's actually a character from a standalone superhero film called "Hancock," released in 2008, and he doesn't belong to any of the major comic book universes. The character is portrayed by actor Will Smith in the movie.

Really one of the great underrated movies with an all-star cast. There are a few that nobody has reacted to and The Interpreter with Sean Penn and Nicole Kidman is another on my list. Sahara and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past with Matthew McConaughey are two others. This was a real treat.
Love how the bad guys plan was to shoot the bulletproof guy BEFORE he knew he was losing his powers. Also love the fact that the prisoners who Hancock put away thought they could intimidate him. Not too bright 🤣
This is a really good one. I love the love story honestly. it makes this movie. As for the drinking. I think it's explained when he is like, "nobody claimed me." I think the explanation is basically that he doesn't feel loved. So he's a broken person.
From what I read, the popcorn and the storms happened because they were both overly emotional and creates heat and energy. So the popcorn churns and pops, and the air around them in downtown LA churns and pops off. When they’re calm together, it’s bliss. When their emotional, their relationship is turmoil. 😁

Hancock is a very underrated movie. Almost nothing about it is the typical superhero movie layout. Which is one thing that makes it great.

I loved this movie when it came out. Don’t know what it says about me, but I wanted Hancock and Mary together SOOOO bad. I am a sucker for soulmate, I will always find you relationships. I would love a prequel of their love or a sequel of one last heroic mission and then finally getting to choose each other. They’re going to be in love forever and it’s tragic to me if love doesn’t prevail somehow.
Chronicle is one of the best superhero movies ever! It’s how I became a Michael B. Jordan and Dane Dehaan fan.
Facts I was always thinking about a sequel and so on but as the years went on unfortunately it never happened. Chronicle was also another great one I hoped for a sequel and same thing it never happened Although there was a leak about chronicle 2 and I'm so glad it never happened.

this must me an unrated version. i don't remember that female cop saying the F word. she said "get me the hell out of here", in the version i watched. also when Mary goes to meet Hancock at is place, she fly's in , not drive. didn't realise there were 2 different versions

This movie is so fun. Also it has the most realistic depiction of flying in any movie I've ever seen. He's not in a superman pose, he's just floating forward, while drinking in this case but that's unrelated. I just realized I said a realistic depiction of flying like people can actually fly lol. You know what I mean

Super underrated movie. So glad you guys had the opportunity to watch it! If you guys can, I'd recommend watching/reacting to Chronicle. Another very interesting take on special abilities. It's just a bit darker of a movie.

To be fair, a big percentage of people would handle having those powers just as poorly as he did. Actually, a portion of those people would handle it a lot worse: at least he tries, however poorly thought-out, to use them for good. Does he have bad in-the-moment thinking skills? Yes. Yes he does.

Charlize Theron was in the Netflix movie, Old Guard, which is sort of a superhero movie that I found to be actually pretty good. I do not think it was super-great & it had more potential to be better, but I would definitely watch a sequel to it if it were made. I found it pretty entertaining that kept my attention throughout. James Gunn made a movie called "Brightburn", which is a horror movie that does explore the concept of what if Superman were bad. There are surprisingly plenty of movies based on graphic novels that I never knew were graphic novels (e.g. Wanted, 300). But, they do not really feature superhero powers. The best non-DC and non-Marvel movies, IMO, featuring superhero powers are....
Chronicle, The Mask, Hellboy, Spawn, Kick-Ass, The Rocketeer, The Crow, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (both 90's and 2000's era), Sky High, Dredd (with Karl Urban), Watchmen, Darkman, Mystery Men, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, The Shadow, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

Still one of my fav hero movies. It got alot of crap because at the time, people they didn't like him being a dark asshole of a hero. Obviously if those same people watch movies today, they would see dark/anti-heros are big now. Then you had those who didn't like it because they brought their little kids to it and/or they didn't like the story becoming about his past. Which is silly, he's fascinating. We want to know about his past. If I recall they still may do another one, but since the Will slap incident, its gone quiet now on if they will do another.
I love the mythology, that it was an original IP and the tragic love story at the heart of the story. Plus, Jason Bateman is a deadpan genuis at line delivery. Great pick tonight. The original title of this movie when it was a spec screenplay making its rounds round Hollywood was 'Tonight, He Comes.' But they thought it sounded too pornographic. So they changed it to HanCOCK. ;)
