So Gilmore Girls is a comfort series for me.. and I can tell you with the confidence of a person who can quote most episodes that Rory did NOT read all of these books. Whoever made this list took every reference from the dialogue that had a book even remotely attached to it. For example both Babe and the Shining are discussed as movies. Pinocchio is referenced in a line about taking deals with strings attached. So this challenge is really just about making people feel bad. I am tempted to make an actual Rory Gilmore challenge though that will just include the books that were read by her in the show.
Oh my gosh please do, make the correct one because I swear this challenge put me to SHAME 😭

Omg please create an accurate list! It has always bothered me, I got really suspicious when I saw Pippi Longstockings on the list, because I remembered that they only talked about the movie and never the book

I feel like the Lorelai Gilmore challenge would be all the movies she watched on the show.
I got 22% but if I could count my DNFs that would probably add another 20% - Rory's reading list is as dry as an unbuttered piece of toast
Same with 84 = 25%. But if I had to remove all the ones I just had to suffer through cause uni and all the ones I happily deleted from my memory the second they were over I'd probably drop back to like 10% tops 😅 Cause yes, booooonedry...

My husband has read 70 and hes a high school English teacher so most were required reads in college. The amount he responded yes to with sighs of regret was hilarious

I got 71, but more than half of those I had to read for school. This list is full of books from American schoolkid reading lists. Required reading is the only reason I think anyone has ever picked up A Separate Peace. 😂
I hope you do a read of Count of Monte Cristo! The length has always been daunting for me, but I've heard it's great.
Most of it is because of school/college. Now, I went to school in Finland, and we had our own books we had to read, and I don't have an English degree either 😀
I remember when Gilmore Girls premeired, lol. Yes, I'm that old. Also, my surname is Gilmore so my mom and I were called The Gilmore Girls as soon as the show came out. Mom died fifteen years ago, but people who meet me still bring up the show whenever I tell them my name. Also, you should read The Crucible! I recommend the audiobook because it's a full cast and it's a play.
The Count Of Monte Cristo is sooo good! Its amazing
I want to read it, but the size of it scares me. Even though I know I'll love it.

I read 63 books. My English degree saved me 😂. I read every Shakespeare play, so I got to check up all those. BUT, now I am intrigued- what is Gavin's Reading Challenge? What 100 books should we have read?
And the Lottery is absolutely fantastic. It's one of my favorite short stories.
And I would TOTALLY buddy read Count of Monte Cristo. That one's a chunky book, but it's supposed be so good!

I still remember us reading crime and punishment at school.. in russian😂 I was maybe 13-14 years old. I don’t remember a lot of what they made us read back then but I remember this one, it was rough😂
Gavin you should def read jekyll and hyde -- its so short. You could finish it in two hours lol. Easy peasy.
I would love to see you read Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers. It's nonfiction but I thought it was really interesting and pretty funny at times.

Gavin please read Joy Luck Club. Omg it made me cry and was super emotional and moving. It is following four adult Asian women and their daughters who have a hard time understanding each other but the mothers'' share their stories about what they went through to make it to the states. The movie was AMAZING

Anna Karenina is a surprisingly readable book.
I LOVE Gilmore Girls and I didn't love Rory during my recent re-watch... it was a sad moment for me since I identified with her so closely as I grew up, but my partner pointed out that I turned into Lorelei as an adult. I'll take that as a win! xD Rory and I have very different taste in books so I think I've read like three or four of these!

I didn't know Whatever Happened to Baby Jane was a book either until this list/video. I LOVE the movie and have got to read that book now.

Yeess, please read The Count of Monte Christo, as well as Anna Karenina. TCoMC is one of my favourite books and also started Anna Karenina and it's veryy promising so far. Ironically enough, Gilmore Girls spoiled the ending of Anna Karenina for me🥲

I've never watched Gilmore Girls, but I've read 37 of the books. I don't think that's too shabby for someone who is picky when it comes to classics (read most during my 2 college literature classes) and tends to read nonfiction more.

Just a heads up on Demons, it also goes by The Devils and The Possessed.
Bought it under the last title during my brief "I should read more Russian literature" phase. Have not read it. I should have really bought more short Russian literature.
I got 171 thanks to some of these being required reading in high school and college. However, most of these books are not the greatest or havent aged well, so I would not recommend most of the books on the list. This was such a fun video and challenge to try.
I love Gilmore Girls! You need to also add To Kill a Mockingbird! So good! Count of Monte Cristo is one of my favorite books and I just read Rosemary's Baby and loved it. And yes, Sisterhood of the traveling Pants definitely should have made the list considering Rory plays in those movies! 😂 She read The Yearling!? Lol isn't that the film that Lorelei was trying to boycott the Mayor from showing year after year?

I got 37. Several I read because of this list. A few years ago I had everyone at the bookstore I worked at take the challenge
I remember reading the da Vinci code in high school I didn’t know it was part of series . Favorite Poe poem the Raven . I’ve read Frankenstein multiple times. And dean koontz Frankenstein the complete series . Would recommend.

If you haven't read romance novel Mates by Sobers Rodrigues, you must include it to your TBR. it's such a beautiful love story with the correct proportion of intimacy.

I've only read 25 of them and a good handful of those were assigned in my high school English classes. I graduated in 2016 and most of them I don't remember all that well- except the Awakening really stuck with me for some reason. I've also since re-read To Kill a Mockingbird and it is a 5 star read imo.
Omg I remember doing this because another booktuber did. I ranked pretty low, but part of it is also that I just...dont havevany interest in reading nearly a 100 or so that are in the list 😆😆😆

I made The Rory Gilmore challenge into a whole TBR on a spread sheat 😆. I had read 73 and I was horrified, but mainly because I knew almost every book. We were made to read A LOT of them in school. I have taken it upon me to read one off of her list every month going forward, this month is my first and I chose Dead souls by Nikolaj Gogol. It's actually really funny.

Lorelai Gillmore may not have been shown reading a lot of books on the show, but the actress, Lauren Graham, has written four books, I think. You probably know she's an author, so you can always give one of her books a try. (I've read none of them.)

I read 70 of 339. Most I read for school though. And she definitely didn't read all of these. Crimson Petal was a book Emily read. I loved this show so much when it came out but it always bugged me that she was only ever seen reading classics and what would have been school books in the US. So did she really emjoy reading or was she just doing homework all the time? Lol

Read 84, which is pretty good considering I hadn't even heard of a lot of books. Too many Hemingway for my liking but all the Shakespeare bumped up my score.

Gilmore Girls was one of my childhood shows and it's still a comfort for me to this day, but dang Rory gives the vibes she'd judge you for reading general fiction, lol.

I read 50, I have quite a few on my tbr because their classic's. But really want to read Pygmalion as the film 'my fair lady' with Audrey Hepburn was based off. One of my all time favourite films
This challenge was so difficult. I tried it a few years ago and was shocked how few I had read.
I read 56 which is not great but better than I expected honestly…a couple of university lit classes saved me 😅
Maybe Rory hasn’t read sisterhood of the traveling pants, but the actress was in the movie so I think that counts lol

I’ve read 108. Some for school, some because I went through a pretentious phase of reading classics in my early 20s simply to say I read them, and some because I simply wanted to.

Da vinci code is really good, but read angels and demons first since it the first adventure.
I've read 39 out of 339, so only 300 left to go lol. It was actually fun to see books I wouldn't have thought of to add to the TBR. I honestly won't try to finish all 339 because there are quite a few that don't interest me but still a great way to get out of my comfort zone.

If you're going to suffer through a Tolstoy for a video I beg you to power through War and Peace. I read it because of Bella from ThroneofPages and sometimes I just walk around wanting to scream "I read War and Peace!!!" like she did 😂
